I love it when the guy doesn't understand the difference with a distortion and beam forming... it's some what technical but you really should know about the issue even if you're not speaker designer. Distortion is when output of the system adds higher frequency components (harmonics) to the fundamental signal. The total distortion is calculated as total sum of all harmonics divided by t he power of the original (fundamental) signal. Beam forming is related to the directivity of the signal at the speaker and when the frequency gets higher it stops spreading evenly and thus the frequency response of the system gets worse when off axis. It's especially harmful for these multiple element systems where the drivers aren't absolutely co-axial to the listener and thus the old school shape for the tweeter. To get better off axis response over all and to get the multi-element speaker to perform evenly at listening position. Genelec has introduced their acoustically co-axial speaker at AES too, other way to reduce the effect is to use less elements but that makes it hard to get the wide frequency response from a single element.

He basically said it's missing what makes the other expensive speakers good, but we still want your money so we made this speaker for you even if it lacks.

Yeah, the price raise is frightening. They get more expensive every year. When I wrote this comment the price was 10000 Euro. Now, 1 year later, its 13000 Euro. I bought the MM27 first gen in 2010. They were officially 7400 Euro, but I got them for 6500 Euro. Actually I wanted to buy the MM 35. They were only 4000 Euro ... now they cost 10000 Euro.

Dropping off at 40... hmm. I mean, that’s not terrible at all... but I REALLY wanna go down to 30 at least. Like kick mics capture down around 20, which is well beyond what you need.. but with these, so I guess high pass up to 40? 😂. Even if the ear has trouble hearing lower than 40, we do indeed feel it, and those super low sub frequencies can’t be mixed right if their not audible. I guess buy a sub? Orrrrr buy a set of Focal monitors, one of my buddies did buy these barefoot monitors and swears by them but he mixes predominantly country and a Little Rock.

6000$ for a pair of speakers of that size, this guy better get real, that's too much money for those, as soon as I heard the price, I clicked on stop and moved on and scratched those guys off my list.

***** I think you're overstating it. I've been doing this for nearly 40 years, have worked for commercial companies, I don;t have (need) a foundry to build a far better pair of speakers for less than commercial offerings. and I do;t have a PHD in acoustics. But after 40 years in the biz, you pick up a thing or two including marketing. That's not to say that I'm down with free speaker software programs like WiniSD or the like, however to build measure then build again doesn't take more than one sheet of MDF. In the UK they cost around £18-20. Not a whole lot of investment. Crossovers in commercial speakers is where a majority of companies try and save costs, and can be a pain in the butt, however, it's still doable. However I have known people build studio speakers for a fraction of the price as the likes of Barefoot and ATC, and in regards to ATC which I've had the displease of hearing, have produced far better results. My ultimate message is: i wouldn't put your entire faith in commercial companies, and neither is acoustics only available to a select few as your post suggests. In fact acoustics is very accessible to those who can be bothered to read. It's not a Pandora's box, it's; Drivers Crossovers Lump of wood. Don;t be scared of them!
