In 2000, I was privileged to see Barbra live in concert. As the last song before intermission, she sang this song and held this note just as long. This brought the house down and a standing ovation followed. And like you, I had goose bumps and shed a tear. I’ll never forget that moment. Thanks.

One of the most triumphant endings in film history, enough to give one shivers and yes, THAT last note omg!!! she holds it for a ridiculous 20 seconds and still manages to do a subtle vibrato before getting off the note (whereas she should have been on the ground gasping for air) and that's very hard!

There are some underlying gay themes, but overall, it is a movie about love and following your dreams! She does sing this song live, in a duet with herself from her "Timeless" concert on January 1, 2000. You have to see it to believe it. LOL

That is not her longest note. Her last TV special back in the 70s - she did a montage of classic songs via different countries and at the end of the 16 min montage, she holds a final note while the orchestra plays each of the themes of the songs from each of the country's instruments played earlier while she sustains the note over it. It is truly one of the Mount Everest of long notes.

There is a live compilation on KZread of her in concert singing songs from Yentl, when she’s older. My mother was the biggest Barbra fan, so I heard all the Barbra growing up. Her voice is absolutely amazing, one of a kind. A gift to us all. I saw the movie when it came out, it’s a great movie. Every time I hear Barbra, I think of my mother, RIP, and gives me good memories. “Papa Can You Hear Me?” Is a beautiful song from Yentl. A great video is her and Neil Diamond singing “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” live at the Grammy’s in what looks like the late 70s/early 80s, it can come and go on KZread, but it’s amazing, because Barbra didn’t sing live very much for many, many years. Thanks for the reaction, definitely going to subscribe based on this…and I see a Queen poster in your background 😀

Watch the movie “Yentl”, Barbra Streisand directed, produced, co-wrote the movie, starred in it as well as sang every song. What was remarkable, women didn’t direct movies then! And to top it off, it was the first Hollywood movie made behind the iron curtain during the Cold War!!!! She became the first woman in history to win the golden globe for best director. When she was snubbed by the Oscar for the major awards, it was a scandal!!!

Check out the Yentl Medley from her 1994 return to the concert stage after a 27 year absence, recorded for the Emmy winning HBO special. She duets with herself by singing live along with this clip from the movie. The late, great Marvin Hamlisch conducts the magnificent orchestra. Absolutely astonishing. If you want to hear what may be an even longer note held by Barbra in a movie that is probably the last note in Before The Parade Passes By in Hello, Dolly! It goes on forever!

Her note at the end of "Before the parade passes by" in Hello Dolly was long and nailed the first act finale...not to mention how she held the note at the end of "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" was one for the record books.

She does have a live version of this song where she is singing it along with this movie clip...You must find it...Her singing with herself...The way she blends her voice to compliment her own voice is like nothing else 😁

Here you go. I happen to just stumble upon this. This is from one of her tours. It's a Duet from Yentl. All I can say is have a box of tissue handy, especially after the first song. The visuals in your mind are overpowering. You have to literally sit still for a few minutes as your mind processes what you just heard and saw. Anyway, here is the link, and have your producer or someone download the video so that you don't see it first. I really am curious to hear your expert opinion. I am 62 and grew up with all this music from the 60s to the present. And I can't help but watch the breath-taking delight on your face as you experience one of the best talents ever as I have since my early teens. As a gay man of 62, people might only be able to see the age difference between us, but the experiences and impact of how we were, back in the day -- thought of as people who had a mental disorder -- and up to the experiences of present-day you talked about being bullied, which you and I both have felt the emotional scar of oppression and stupidity linking you and I and thousands of others together. Personally, Barbra brought me through some patchy period in my life. I have subscribed and will be taking a look at your merch, as well as a Patreon member to support you, your channel, and your efforts. Here is the link to watch one of the best performances ever. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mJpkqbJvnMioltI.html. One last thing. This may be unheard of, but I think on some video reactions, the blending of your two reactions would be amazing and garner a lot of attention.

You should watch Yentl to hear all of the songs and then this one will make more sense. It`s also very similar to the end of Funny Girl, her first movie, where she sings. Nobody Is Gonna Rain On My Parade on the back of a tug-boat and holds a note almost as long as this one. there`s a video of her performance from the film on KZread, well worth watching.

In the 90s, she gave a concert where she played this on a big screen and sang it live at the same time. Basically doing a duet with herself - and yes sounded as good. You could probably find that on you tube. Entire audience was on their feet.

Barbara co directed, co wrote and co produced and stared in this movie. Her vocals are insane. And let’s not forget her acting! She’s also an artist.

Yentl was a Musical, that they made into a film! She starred, sung, and produced this film. She was up for many Academy awards, but for some reason, she only got one award. The academy snubbed her for some reason. I think, they thought it was too easy for her. Barbara said, it was one of the hardest films to make, but because she always made everything look so easy, they didn't want to give her awards, even though she more than deserved it!

She sings a longer note in Make our garden grow, which is a more difficult note, cause it's longer. Yet it's not her longest. On a special she sang who could ask for anything more which was 23 seconds long. (Tom)

Sung it live at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim back in 1994! It was a duet with herself on screen! Did it again in 2000, in Vegas! It was pretty AMAZING! You need to review it!
