The manipulative and false marketing of this movie making it look like Sonic or something is the only reason it was popular. If they had shown the evil inside it would have bombed harder than Nagasaki lol. For a group that's so "proud" of themselves and their beliefs it's quite telling that the only way they could get anyone to watch this drivel is to actively deceive them into watching it.

I've seen several repudiations of the Barbie movie, (by men and inciteful women), but I think yours is probably the most in depth. Your analyses of the propaganda, and note that the very vileness of the misandry on display is itself probably the most telling critique of the film, is spot on, since in truth the most frightening part about this film, is just how accepted it has been, as satirical comedy, as "a female perspective", as "A kid's movie." I hate to play the "as a", card but as a teenager, I experienced sexual abuse from girls, abuse which involved a lot of public humiliation. Two of the most telling characteristics of those experiences, is that what was being done was framed as "A joke", even though had our genders been reversed, even if someone didn't stop the actions publically, the police could've gotten involved. The second was a complete narcissism. If I attempted to defend myself physically, or even verbally, I was castigated, told I was the one committing abuse, told I "didn't understand how hard it is to be a girl.."

@@lowtemperaturehands Thanks that's Appreciated. It's more something one just has to deal with, often on a day to day basis, than something one "gets better", from. I have ended up married to a very wonderful lady, and am no longer genophobic, as I was for a large part of my life, so certainly some things did work out. But I'll admit that misandry, and the constant barrage of the men bad, women good rhetoric, is something I definitely have trouble with.

Deceptive marketing and the "Barbenheimer" meme made sure the secret toxic payload hit a large audience. And while it will resonate with a lot of people, one common criticism I've heard is that this film makes feminism look so unappealing it promotes a different message than what Gerwig was going for. She was so bad at feminism that she made an anti-feminist film. While it made bank at the box office, it appears her message is not helping her cause.

Thank you! That's strange about not getting a notification. From the KZread analytics this video has the biggest drop off after the first couple of minutes compared to any video on my channel. In hindsight I'd do it totally differently and it's probably the weakest part of the video, so for that reason KZread didn't want to recommend it. At least that's what I'm guessing. It kind of sucks because after the initial dropoff people typically stick around and watch the whole thing. I also think KZread seemed to have pushed it to the wrong audiences too. Learning something with every video!

The speech at 16:00 is horrible. It suffers from the same lack of awareness it pretends to try to right. This fantasy that it's a man's world and that men have it easy is such a farce. Whatever benefits of being a man come with a rather similar laundry list of 'social expectations' that are listed in the speech. We need to try understand and relate to the struggles of the individual. The idea that you can typecast tribulations based on your physical characteristics is so outdated, that I can't believe mainstream is pushing them back into fashion. It's like we've reduced a person to their sexe/gender, sexuality and their skin color. That's it. With that information you have enough to understand their life situation. And those things are the only things you could possibly relate to. How many kids do you think who grew up watching the Lion King identified with Simba, or any of the other characters. Was it because they had the same sexual orientation, and gender? No, identifying with a character should always be beyond what they look like, and their sexual preferences. You'd think that having these kinds of examples and more on hand would allow us to stop this madness of thinking everything is about these superficial things. I wouldn't be surprised that in years to come. This weird phase we're stuck in will be seen as some kind of regressive moral dark age.

I totally agree! I think we should be careful with the reductive discourse, it only ever seems to divide people into extremes and perpetuate hate and anger. But it gets used so much because it makes things easier to attack. Propaganda never ages well. It will certainly be interesting to see what people make of this movie 10 years from now.

Let's hope things are better 10 years later ;) Stellar work btw! I couldn't' for the life of me organize a 30 minute video without rambling like a lunatic. I can only imagine how many hours went into this.

@@OneRedKraken Thank you! Just FYI, I didn’t delete that comment from the person critiquing the video that you replied to, she did, so I’m sorry you lost your message. I kind of also need to figure out how to not sound like a lunatic. There are always things I’d change in hindsight with every video, KZread is certainly a learning process!

@@lowtemperaturehands No worries! I assumed she had done so herself. Bit of a shame it was quite an ironic comment to read considering what she was accusing you of. We should focus on the ideas being discussed not the people saying them.
