Barber Tutorial: Classic, Professional, Gentlemen's Haircut 2017

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, MC will show you how to do a classic, gentlemen's haircut.
-0:28 MC starts by parting the hair, wetting it, and combing it in the direction of hair growth.
-1:00 Take a vertical 1/4 of an inch to a 1/2 of an inch section 90 degrees from the scalp.
-2:50 Moving to the top of the head, he starts from the front. MC takes horizontal sections a 1/4 of an inch to a 1/2 of an inch thick, keeping them 90 degrees from the scalp.
-3:50 Learn how to properly cut the front of your hairstyle.
-4:00 Watch MC trim eyebrows using scissors over comb.
-4:29 Moving to the nape, MC uses an 8 plastic guard on his Wahl clippers to create a taper.
-5:13 To further taper the neck, he moves down to a 4 plastic guard on his Wahl clippers.
-5:49 Watch MC create his shape up using Andis trimmers.
-6:44 To taper the sides of the head, he starts by using an 8 plastic guard on his Wahl clippers.
-7:20 To further taper the sides, he moves down to a 4 plastic guard on his Wahl clippers.
-7:52 He uses Andis trimmers to clean up the hairline and around the ears.
-8:38 Learn Trimmers over comb instead of scissors over comb to help blend the hairstyle.
-10:23 MC cleans up his shape up line using a straight razor.
Enjoy!!

A Barber doing a classic taper cut. So many new Barbers consumed with bald fades in every video. I'm working on my 34th year cutting lots of hair every day. It's good to see something else than bald heads. Great job sir.

So glad for this video! I'm in cosmetology school and they don't teach you men's cuts until you're already on the floor, and all the videos on KZread are disconnected cuts, and fades. My dad's been bugging me to cut his hair and show off what I've been learning at school (everything but men's cuts, basically), and this is his haircut exactly!

Thank you! Since we can't go to barbers or hairstylists right now, my husband wants me to cut his hair. I'm terrified, and have been combing (ha ha) KZread for videos. This is by far the best, especially, as other commenters have said, I'm not looking for fades or anything fancy. Thanks for the details and helpful commentary!

I just used this video to cut my hubby's hair. It turned out great! Actually, better than some of the haircuts he gets at the barbers. I would like to know how to do a little more of a fade at the neckline. I'll look around to see if there is a video for that.

UPDATE... I almost forgot to share how it went. I apologize. It went really amazingly well! I didn’t remembered until I was doing my hubby’s two week touch up. He had me cut his hair again!!! That says a lot!! Especially, when salons are open here in Washington State. I did take an entire hour to accomplish the cut the first round. However, I just made him a strong drink and all was well. We laughed and talked thee entire time. I guess that I said “uh oh” at one point soooo, that wasn’t reassuring for him. I have an entire new respect for anyone in the salon world!! That is coming from someone who has worked in retail for 20years. And I am extremely thankful for my current four years in pest control. Again, that says a lot! My main income is eradicating bed bugs and roaches. Thank you for sharing this technique!!! I wish you all blessings ❤️ Remember, it’s only hair. In two weeks, it literally never happened.❤️😂😂

Thank you for your patience and wisdom my compatriot. You have a gift not only for this art form, but also for instructing others so they can elevate themselves along side of yourself. A great way to live, I envy you and aspire to help others too once I reach a level that will just become a flow one day. This cut right here is the example I need to help level up. I love this cut for my demographic, even younger folks now want longer hair tapered. After viewing your instruction here I was able to give a mostly scissor cut at a park on a bench, while finishing up I had my cordless and tapered buzzer over comb. It came out brilliantly! Best to you and your future endeavors. Looking forward to more... Cheers. Robert M. - CelebratedRazorworks

vvv2k12 When he said "less cables" (I'm thinking he means clipper cords), therefore, the clippers he's referring to are probably cordless clippers. And yes the voltage in many European countries use 240v compared to 120v in the USA.

Superb barbering. I live in Scotland and I wish I could find a barber like you. I am 65 and I need a barber that actually listens to me! My last haircut was November and I am still growing out the neck taper that I didn’t ask for. I don’t intend to get another haircut until April and I reckon by then it will be back to where I started. Just because a guy goes to a barber it doesn’t mean he wants to come out looking like he is going to fight in WW1 trenches!

Haha...Don't even have to see the guide..as long as fingers connect to the head that determines eveness as long as sections are not too wide..Even do this cut clipper over comb..Different technique s keep me from being bored doing 20 - 30 cuts everyday..and there's more than one way to skin a cat and get the same results..

This is the most popular cut i do every day in my shop. My clientel is mostly older gentle men but do have a lot of fades that come in too. I dont do much blocking in the back. I think a nice taper with this type of style looks better and as i tell my clients, with a taper instead of blocking you dont notice it as much as it grows out.

where i live so many barbers hate doing old school hair cuts because they take longer to cut and are harder to do well. they much prefer short back and sides, fades and wot not as they are a lot quicker and easier.
