    Honestly, I like the Fighter. Far as I'm concerned, the Fighter should be the best at all round fighting. That's their job. They don't get stuff like barbarian rage; they just get to be overall the best at weapons. Having said that, I do think monks should have access to legendary unarmed proficiency.

    @@riceenjoyer3164 I mean, they can be better at punching people, but monks aren't just about punching people. I mean, Fighters get a +2 to hit relative to monks, but monks get to do things like catching arrows and throwing them back, or doing elemental damage with their punches, or self healing, or aoe attacks, or walking on water, or (at 18th level) literally going super saiyan. I'm fine with this distinction, personally; I mean, a monk might be rolling 2 less to hit than a fighter, but the other special features make up for that imo.

    The Superstition Barbarian benefits heavily if you have a party member invested in the Medicine skill. A Forensic Medicine Investigator with the Medic Archetype could serve as a party's sole healing source and never clash with the Barbarian, same with a Chirurgeon Alchemist, even their Healing Bomb should work with the Anathema.

    While barbarian isn't my favorite class, Amiri is tired for my favorite pathfinder iconic. Tied with Seeoni ofc who's just the most badass ever EDIT: 15:20 I know why!! They explain why those traditions are related on page 297 (I think. I'm in mobile) where they talk about the four essences. Arcane and Primal deal with matter, Arcane and Occult deal with mind, Divine and Occult deal with spirit, and Divine and Primal deal with life. That's why you can't pair Arcane with Divine; they don't have any overlapping essences.

    15:18 now that secrets of magic is out, we do know why the superstitious barbarian is limited in his choice of "opposing" traditions. He has to choose one magic ESSENCE (which is a concept developed in secret of magic). Basically and essence overlaps two traditions and represent what link them. Here's the essences and associated traditions (I recommend this chapter in the book of unlimited magic in secrets of magic, very insightful) : Matter : Arcane and Primal Mind : Arcane and Occult Spirit : Occult and Divine Life : Primal and Divine As we can see, arcane/divine and primal/occult are at the edges, and share no essence ; that's why so few spells in common (only 1 and 4 as a matter of fact, excluding spells available to other traditions as well). Note that guessing the traditions related to a specific essence might be a good guess game while the wizard is looking for a spell or you have some dead time at the table :D but I might be boring. Hence, the superstitious barbarian opposing traditions falls into one of these essences, hence the choice limitations. Thanks for reading

    15:25 the reason you can't mix and match, as I can tell, is that the two traditions share a magical source. I don't remember the official names of the magical sources, but as I understand it, it goes as follows: Arcane and Primal share the material source, since both affect the material realm primarily; Occult and Divine inversely affect the spiritual realm, so they share the spiritual source. Additionally, Arcane and Occult both share an academic approach to magic, so they share an academic source, where as Primal and Divine both share an intuitive approach to magic so they share an intuitive source. (and as stated, I forget the official names of the sources, so I know the names I gave are wrong) So it seems to me that the Raging resistance is designed to be about one particular source of magic, which makes it not really mix-and-match-able

    I am currently playing a spirit instinct barbarian. Lore wise she is a young catfolk who is one of the last members of her tribe to survive a troll invasion. Her dead father possesses her when she rages, lending his strength and prowress to his daughter's side. I am taking her down a shadow dancer path to play with a blend of shadows and spiritualism. Unfortunately, there doesn't exist a spiritualist archetype in the game (besides the spirit barbarian themselves) and needing to take something for the free archetype, I went with Shadow Sorcerer as they are the closest thing besides undead, which I was meh on. Might retrain the charge feat for moment of clarity once I get a few spells, but otherwise, she is just fun to play with and smash things with her father's greataxe.

    My thoughts on the Is throwing weapon barbarian It depends on your team and your GM If you are The tank of the group and the only competent melee class I think it is an extraordinarily bad idea. Same for if your GM dislikes scattering terrain around your combat arenas and only ever does open fields with no obstacle. One of the best advantages of this feat is that you have an easier time taking advantage of cover and avoiding getting surrounded by enemies, Plus it meets fewer double move and dead move turns. But if they need you to tank then it's probably better to take a sword in board et cetera Stopping said, I also thinkThat's the draconian instinct Makes it significantly better, because their rage gives additional bonus damage without any major downsides to dexterity. Dealing 10.5 damage on average with darts is no laughing matter. Plus eventually you get wings, and you get to take advantage of the real power of wings which is mobility . Play keep away Being in the air means that any enemy that relies solely on their Melee attacks is going to B easy pickings for you

    Here are some of mine opinions/add-ons on some of the feats. Keep in mind if never played pf2 this is meanly from a built perspective. 19:19 Acute Vision: you need to be raging in order to gain darkvison so a little more situational feat. 19:24 Moment of Clarity: this feat is meanly useful with archetype dedication features that have the concentrate trait without the rage trait (like rangers hunt prey) will still gaining rage bonuses mostly spellcaster dedications so you can rage and cast 1 or 2 action spells (maybe 3 action if you find a quickened condition for spells). Other then that it can have some situational moment with basic actions like the ready action or skill actions. 20:11 Raging Thrower: probably mine go-to 1st feats if I were to play pf2 barbarain because even if I don’t make a build around this feat it still good at dealing optimal damage against flying creatures and ranged attacker out of reach like: higher ground or on the opposite side of a chasm. Other then that it’s good for fun and thematic builds. For example a level 8 barbarian with a zeus complex adding a shock rune to a thrown weapon or a Giant Instinct barbarian with Rage Thrower having a Large weapon with the thrown trait.

The most obvious would be Arcane and Occultism though it could be flavoured a few different ways depending on which you have as Anathema. Like Divine and Primal would be someone who hates the natural order and wishes to destroy it or who's one of those witch Hunter sorts who considers those magics taboo, Divine and Occultism could see those magics as unnatural and needing to be purged for interfering with the world, etceteras

    Supersticion Barbarian does work well if a healer simply respects your choice to not be affected by magic. If they just bring a healer's kit to use on you instead, it's fine. Also another handy workaround is a ruling where the barbarian doesn't even know he is healed by magic. Most barbarians aren't very smart and will probably not be proficient in any skill to recognize magic. So a little loophole i always accept is, to trick the barbarian into thinking it's non-magical healing, when it in reallity is. Like telling them to hold still and whipping out the Healer's Kit, but in reallity using a Heal Spell on them while they don't understand the difference. However if they make any kind of check or are told that they were healed by magic at one point they have to refuse any further healing in that manner to keep their power. (Also i usualyl just scratch the part where they cannot even travel with healer)

    Am I the only one waiting for someone to build a legal 6 level Giant Instinct Barbarian with +14 Athletics and (using the Giant's Stature and Titan Wrestler) will suplex freaking ANYTHING?! Titan Wrestler skill feat allows you to use Athletics against creatures up to two size categories larger than you are... And Giant's Stature makes you Large... Which means that these two combined allow you to use Athletics against both Huge and Gargantuan size creatures... Which means any possible creature from any sourcebook (except for incorporeal ones) can be suplexed by that son of a mom when he (or she, who knows) decides to rage. Do the Giant's Stature and Giant Instinct Ability abilities combined mean that a medium sized human while raging can use weapons meant for Huge creatures? If that is true, then I can make a pretty scary thing... I can LEGALLY attack a dragon with his own ripped off tail. When my character is level 6. Using it as an improvised weapon... Or even improvised thrown weapon with Raging Thrower class feature. 2d10+4 from his own tail tossed at him... That sounds... Amazing! And you can then become a Huge creature if you take a feat at level 14(?)... And you can use weapons made for Gargantuan creatures with practically NO PENALTY! If you are allowed to use Free Archetypes you take Weapon Improviser and become unstoppable machine that can use a sword of a statue with no penalty or you can beat the s**t out of a dragon with another dragon's corpse... Or throw something like a Huge Boulder...

    That is wrong on giant stature, when enlarged your weapons are considered large weapons, a large character can dual wield two double handed weapons as if they where one handed weapons. Now a gnome and dwarf can wield there two handed weapon like a shortsword. RULE SAYS LARGE CHARACTERS DEAL LARGE DAMAGE add a 2 dice to your damage of your unarmed or weapon damage unless a feat or item says otherwise.

  • @Nonat1s

    @Nonat1s

    I'm not sure that's how it works in PF2. Nothing in the book (that I could find) states anything about weapon size increasing damage die by a step. The "Enlarge" spell specifically states that "...the target grows to size Large. The creature is clumsy 1. Its reach increases by 5 feet (or by 10 feet if it started out Tiny), and it gains a +2 status bonus to melee damage.", but the "Giant's Stature" Barbarian feat doesn't say that it functions like the "Enlarge" spell. "Gian'ts Stature" only states that "You become Large, increasing your reach by 5 feet and gaining the clumsy 1 condition (page 618) until you stop raging." This leads me to believe that the +2 damage isn't from the equipment changing size, but rather from the Enlarge Spell itself.

    All of the different instincts are very playable, but you’re right in most cases players will choose animal or dragon. The spirit barbarian may do well with the spirit eidolon in the future. I feel some great synergy coming from that. The superstition barbarian is just a barbarian who ultimately wants consent. And I think you can get around that anathema of magic being used on the character, is simply getting consent to do it. Could give examples, but it all boils down to analogies of protecting oneself against unwanted physical/mental....”things”. I can’t say what cuz of youtube policies. But if you roleplay with that in mind, it could lead to very in-depth character and party development.

  • @kevinbarnard355

    @kevinbarnard355

    Look at the Anathema again. Superstitious Instinct doesn't allow the Barb to willingly accept magic. If you give your NPC or PC caster ally permission to cast a spell on you, you have committed Anathema. If they do it against your will (without consent), you are obliged to make them stop, seek amends for it, and if they keep doing it you have to leave their company.

    Kevin Barnard You must have completely missed the part, in any of our discussions and in this video, where THE DM CAN MAKE HOUSE RULES TO CHANGE RULES IN THE BOOK! Even Nonat in this video says it could be changed. And the whole point of my comment was to provide that reasoning for the change to the superstition anathema.

    @@FluffyCajun I certainly didn't miss that part Fluffy. There was no indication that your "suggestion" was that. Your writing made it seem more like "anyone can get around this rule which I've misstated," rather than "here's my suggestion to make Superstitious work for PCs". Maybe try being more clear, in a comment section for a video about "how things things are written to work" rather than implying I don't know how to read.

    Kevin Barnard Because instead of saying, “oh, that would be a good change” you immediately start on your rules lawyer bullshit. Cool, you can believe whatever you want. As I already pointed out, you didn't make it clear that you were making a "house rule" suggestion. It seemed to me and possibly other people who watch and read the comments that you were implying "all you need is consent" is the way it's written in the book. Context is all I asked for. Preface your suggestion as you have before with "my house rules, or "if you don't like this, here's an idea." Maybe you are the douchey person who jumps to conclusions? I certainly gave you credit for interesting ideas last time. I merely questioned why you did stuff to learn better. I'm happy to accept your suggestion is a plausible alternative. Are you happy now, or do you want to continue to be rude and inflammatory?

    Barbarians don't actually have to do the Atonement ritual to get all their features back... they just have to take 1 day of downtime to 're-center' themselves. Basically, the fact that you did something that's contrary to your nature throws you for a loop, and you need to take a day to process it before you can channel your inner nature again. It's far less punishing than the Cleric/Paladin anathemas, but the Barbarian ones tend to be more restrictive.

    Couldn't Swipe trigger Cleave? Cleave requires killing/downing a foe with a melee Strike, and Swipe makes you roll a melee Strike. So you expend two actions to Swipe and, if you only kill/down one of the targets, you could use your Reaction to Strike *again* the second foe. Heck, if you were surrounded by enemies you could even use it to target a third foe, wouldn't you?
