My first thought in seeing this another time after many years, pertained to erosion and rising sea level. I wonder if the property has ever been impacted by storms or been water damaged. The interview was unique, particularly in seeing Carson at home. I did not find the exchange very penetrating, though there were opportunities had Walters recognized them or chosen to follow up. Historically, there's meaning, but mostly shallow fluff...

Carson did not stay away from politics. I watched The Tonight Show all through the 1970s and 1980s. He dealt with it in a way that would make people laugh. Johnny sold this house soon after this interview and bought a home high on a cliff on Pt. Dume. It was more secure.
His Carnac The Magnificent skits with sidekick Ed McMahon were memorable
220k per month settlement... a reminder of why you never get married.
He is spot on. I also have very close friends that I talk to.
But he always felt his Mother didn’t love him He wanted his Mother to love and respect him So sad
Back when barbera was enjoyable
TG the short shorts have not come back

Those short shorts.
She interviewed Johnny Carson differently from other people.
@lovesvegas Why did you edit this interview?
Amazing how many high notoriety people have come from Nebraska or the Midwest. Warren Buffet…
Acknowledged
6:28 Boy, is that true to this day. Mentioning no names.
I don't understand the brief flashes of "All Copyrights Acknowledged". This isn't your work, so therefore you are copying it. Have you gotten the permission of the copyright holder to put this on KZread? If so, your message would be "Posted on KZread with the permission of the copyright holder." That would be acknowledging the copyrights.
So glad not to hear her anymore. I forget how that voice registered.
Somebody should spell "acknowleded" correctly.
You spelled knowledge wrong. You see spelled it the way Baba Wawa would have pronounced it!
Man, Barbara always did the most powerful interviews. She was sexy, smart and could have been a great interrogation tool in the wars.
"Perfect day ...doing what Lord, wants 🙏 you to do 😃
The Mike Wallace interview was a bit better but this was quite good!
Baba Wawa was so goofy.
So?
Spell check??
A new womance!
I think Jonny was a very sexy fella x
Barbara was so hot back then
This tape is horrible quality stuff gets cut out
did she just say that Johnny was "58," and "as physically fit as a man in his 50s"?

No one even comes CLOSE to Johnny Carson. Especially today. Johnny mentioned not talking about personal views or the comedy would suffer. That's being demonstrated today on every late night talk show. They're not funny, they're just whinny, petulant, over paid individuals who parade around as comedians.
The Crown should have passed to Letterman not the chin on legs…
Was the luckiest man in the world, what he did was not worth millions of dollars, please he didn't do anything Steve Allen wasn't already doing
To bad the late night people now don't take any notice of johnny about politics That's why Kimmel Gorbet are not liked
Physically fit? The guy smoked like a chimney ffs🤪

Being physically fit and physically healthy are two totally different things. You can be really fit, and not very healthy, and you can be very healthy and not very fit. Carson was very fit but not at all healthy.
Babawawa should have listened to Johnny about celebrities opinions

How relevant was his comment about political statements..wow..he said the comedy suffers. Look at all the late night guys now who used to be funny.
I loved the show but have grown to dislike the man as time went on and more was learned about who he really was. Its true that power corrupts and it certainly took its toll on his mind and personality, but yet he was too weak with women and in relationships in general. Its so ridiculous what some of these men allow to happen to themselves with women😢
That joke at the start..so lame
Jim Carey should have listened to his advice. Taking political stances makes you less funny.
There's no way he was cleaning that house by himself lol He was such a decent man her questions were so dum this interview 🙄 they both by this time were divorced multiple times and she has the nerve to ask what does it feel like
I loved Johnny, but I know for a fact he had a granddaughter that was black & he refused to even acknowledge her! A dna study was done & she was rightfully his blood! After he talked about it I lost all respect for the man!
Barbra Walter’s was genuinely a horrible interviewer. I don’t understand how it became her job
Was a Jerk
She is great usually but this is the worst interview I've ever seen her do and that sucks because I love Johnny Carson and generally I love her Work...

my love of carson makes even her worst effort pleasurable to watch. i missed this one somehow, someway.
You can clearly see here how insecure Johnny remained his entire life...he simply can not bring himself to the point of vulnerability....which means he would be nearly impossible to have a relationship with because he would always be feeling threatened by the tiniest self-revelation.....you think the reasons he couldn't stay married were the fault of his wives? Beautiful women, which his wives certainly were, do not seek divorce from a man as attractive in so many ways as was Johnny Carson.....

He always kept his show classy. He left political subjects out. People watched him to laugh and be entertained. He didn't get political. He stayed away from politics. There will never be another classy comedian host like Johnny Carson ever again. All the comedians now-a-days use politics for their personal gain and for their paycheck 🙄. It's disgusting. I don't even watch TV anymore because of that. And I don't miss it either. 👍 Johnny Carson, you're a legend. May you rest in peace. 🙏

Carson did not stay away from politics. I watched The Tonight Show all through the 1970s and 1980s. He dealt with it in a way that would make people laugh. For example, he spoke in this video of the faux pas of James Watt (who had been Reagan's Secretary of the Interior) in a light-hearted, funny way.
