Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

The reading speed is perfect as it is. The well-timed pauses and clear diction facilitate better understanding, meditation, and the absorbing of important points. This person reading is the best.

Like many Christians, I was baptized in water as an outward show of my faith in Christ because I believed it was commanded by our Lord, as taught by my pastor at the time. If I believed we were required to parachute out of a plane, I would have done that too. I love my LORD, my King, and my Savior. However, I don't believe the great commission is about dipping people in water. John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:11 - I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. Jesus baptizes with the Holy Ghost and fire. Ephesians 4:5-7 says there is One Lord, one faith, one baptism.... I would surmise that the one baptism is the one Jesus spoke of in Luke 12:50 when He says: But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Was he stressed about being dipped in water? Obviously, there is no question that He was referring to the fact that He was about to bear the sins of the world on His shoulders, and be sacrificed on the cross. That is baptism. Jesus asked James and John, when they asked that He would grant them to sit on His right and left hand in His glory, if they could drink of the cup that He drinks of and be baptized with the baptism that He is baptized with... They said, "We can.." and He said, "Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized.." He wasn't talking about being dipped in water. He was talking about their future martyrdom for their faith and testimony in Christ. True baptism is also noted in Hebrews 10:22, which says, "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water (not H20). And also in 1 Peter 3:21, which says, "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus.." Peter says baptism is not the putting away of filth, as in with water....but having a good conscience toward God. Preach belief in Jesus Christ, who died and was raised again, for the remission of sins, and those who hear will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. By the way, I love Spurgeon. I just think he may have been a little off the mark on this particular topic. Christ:

Did Christ mean water baptism or spiritual baptism?

Baptised with fire by the Holy Spirit. I disagree with Spurgeon here - he is being very disingenuous by making no reference to Baptism with fire under the NEW covenant. John himself stated this that the one to come would baptise with fire.
