Due to depleting gas reserves, the Government of Bangladesh has to depend on imported LNG and regasification to feed the power plants, various industries and households. Bangladesh currently has two offshore LNG terminals in the form of Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU). The two FSRUs are owned by US energy giant, Excelerate Energy. One of the terminals is operated by Excelerate itself and the other is operated by Summit Group. These two supply approximately 25% of the natural gas of Bangladesh.
In this video, I have shared the experience of one of my recent visits to Excelerate's terminal and also shared how the terminal operates.
