@@bobcieslinski My understanding is that Mitch's last super-high note is how the song was originally written. My guess is that it was slightly modified to allow performers to sing it time after time for the Broadway show. It's still a freakin' high note, but since Mitch was only going to be doing it once, he just went for it! Modifying high notes is not unknown for PTX in live concerts, either. There's a video on YT of songs with high notes in the studio performances that they've never actually attempted to perform during concerts.

Oh, I loved this reaction so much. Some reactors get caught up in the humor from their intro, and Scott's haphazard wig, and Mitch's thrown on green makeup. I mean, they intended that humor, but it wasn't meant to detract from how committed they were, dramatically and musically. In fact, to me, it focused me more on their performative prowess. They came from a theatrical background, and you can see it in the way they perform all their music in character according to the song lyrics, but this was actual Broadway roles. Kirsti did Kinky Boots, but Scott and Mitch need to do Broadway, too. Maybe Mitch could be the first gender shifted Elphaba.

Great review. Yes Mitch has an rare physical anomaly voice where his chest and mix goes up higher than most males.Yes they're classically trained. There's a video of Mitch hilariously reenacting his voice teacher " the passAGIO!!!!" There's another video on tour where you get a glimpse of the warm up of a PTX show and they're behind the stage with Kevin and Mitch standing across from the others with Mitch correcting the note for Scott to come in on in on in of the songs because they both have as close to perfect pitch as you can get. I imagine that's challenging on tour with all different venues and having to be able to rely on ONLY your voices not the backing tracks, earbuds and mics.

Mitch did community children's theater in the Dallas area when he was young. He was in a production with Scott and another with Kirstie when they were all around 10-12, though I don't think any of them were in the same school until high school. I'm sure they had vocal coaching as part of the rehearsal process and possibly private lessons if their parents could afford it. This Defying Gravity session was an episode of a vlog that Mitch and Scott did together when they shared an apartment during Pentatonix's early days in Los Angeles. Most episodes were chat and KZread challenges but every so often they would work up an arrangement or medley of pop music, something they'd been doing since high school, and record it in their home "studio". Around 2016 they started writing / arranging original songs and in 2017 released a double album of original songs and videos for almost all of them, titled "Future Friends"

Where can you find a group with such depth, creativity, training, theatrics and attention to detail. I think I mentioned that they tend to make everyone raise their own game.Even reactors. Hats off, you seem to have settled in and raised your own game. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a group or students with their range and talent available at all times to create with. It’s really almost almost unfair!

@@bobcieslinski I checked and it is still on FB at the moment (one other video I knew to be FB only was recently removed so 🤞🏻). I'd write the direct URL but YT doesn't like outside links. It was posted to FB by a page called Wicked the Musical Australia on July 5, 2019. You should be able to pull it up just by typing "Pentatonix What Is This Feeling".

Another great reaction! So glad you did this one. Scott has incredible vocal control for sure, but I think Mitch's control is almost superhuman. The way he can hit a note and delay the vibrato until he's well into it just blows my mind! And breath control? You should check out Carol of The Bells - "Christmas Under the Stars" version. I swear I'm going to pass out on his behalf every time.

Thanks for your great reaction, Bob! This is really mindblowing and I have to agree with Ellen, Mitch's enunciation is fantastic, esp for me as a non native English speaker it's so helpful, how you can really understand every single word from him. And yes, please do their Frozen medley or "Feeling myself", if you haven't done yet.. 😊

Amazing, aren't they? I've seen videos with numerous women singing this, considered the best to have performed it and honestly, I always talk back to the screen because Mitch does it better than most of those examples and I'm asking yeah, but but where's Mitch? He deserves to be in this video. He's your true competition! ( Sorry, I'm a tad obsessed/protective when it comes to all the artists in PTX). Watching your reaction was fabulous and I'm going back to watch you again. 😻

There's a very revealing TikTok out there where PTX needed a choir backup for part of a carol, and Scott recorded _himself_ for all the parts and looped and overlaid the clips with each other - and it was lovely! Oh, I found it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lZlhmcWOo9WWk9o.html

Hi there Bob...I really enjoy your reactions. Not all glitz and glam, just you and a mic and the video. Thanks for the content. Pentatonix is one of my favorites. Would love to see you do a reaction of Pentatonix's version of "Imagine". Also, on a side note, I see you teach in Pennsylvania. I'm from Greensburg area here. Well hope to see more great reactions in the future. I will definitely be subscribing.

Jergm25 thanks for thr kind words. Holy cow we are neighbors. I actually live near Leechburg and Vandergrift. I’m about 40 minutes from Greensburg. We often go to the Westmoreland Mall. I also purchased my Mountain Bike from Flat Tire which is in Greensburg near the stereo shop where I got my home theater speakers. Maybe we will bump into each other someday. Thanks for subbing!

Hey Bob! I hope that I'm not being rude by mentioning here at this time but may I please ask of you this special request? FOR A BIG SURPRISE! " BRING HIM HOME' From Les Miserables by AUSTIN BROWN of Home Free & " WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW/STAY" TIM FOUST of HOME FREE I don't think PTX will mind my asking here because HF & PTX are all good friends also Voice Play! They work together occasionally on different projects. There is never any compitition or jealousy! The respect for each other is real! If I missed these two videos by mistake I apologize! I think it's great that there are three premier a capella groups to reach the broad range of preference for all of us fans! Each group is different and very talented! I appreciate all that you do and enjoy listening to your breakdowns. Thank you! Sending love from South Georgia!♥️😃🍟
