Great band, so good to hear the subtle differences between household bands, only possible when you're this close up. Differences such as the Irish guards have the 'swagger' and volume and the Scots stir you with fantastic individual sections and how slick they sound, this band is not as loud and doesn't have the same 'flair' as some of the others, instead they have beautifully controlled dynamic range, 'colour' and a lovely round sound with top quality performances from individual players. Thank you for these videos, always enjoyed so much.

Love seeing the household troops band in 6 ranks and in such numbers! Really makes a difference in the sound, not just volume but the overall balance. And nice seeing 2(!) euphoniums on parade too. Bravo!

Hi@@kirkotash7349 , no, there are 2 euphoniums (the smaller ones in the inside) and 3 tubas (the larger ones, on the outside).

Great video. Very smart guards on the heels of the excellent band who are led by the matchless SDM Chambers. All in very fine form indeed. The move from ranks of 6 down to 4 as they approach the gates is seamless. Thanks for sharing this.👍

@hazel1605 Hi Hazel, around the 7:33 Mark there's the raised trombone to herald the change. There's a video of them at Wellington barracks rehearsing the extra moves they have to make for the Easter Court. I can't remember who filmed it though🤔

@@AnnofWales21 yes! Just watched again and saw it, mesmerising indeed. Did you ever see the’move’ by the Royal Navy on coronation day, top of the Mall approaching Buckingham Palace? They had to do it to get through the entrance they were using to access the garden where the Royal Salute would take place. I’ll find it for you and let you know 😊

I'm glad the weather is improving (well, it is here in Wales anyway, for now........) Hopefully that will make your journeys more pleasant 😎 The downside of course is more spectators, but they can lend a bit of atmosphere I suppose!

Hi@@AnnofWales21 , thanks, and yes the weather is improving a bit, but here in the east of England it is still unseasonably cold and quite a risk of showers. The amount of spectators, and tourists, is always a bit of a gamble, but I think there tend to be less on the weekdays than on the weekend days. Just have to "play it by ear", so to speak!
