They suck you in with familiarity, then confound your expectations by giving you twice as much as you could even think of expecting.

I had watched various world music videos that led the YT algorithm to suggest Wagakki Band, which I really got into. Then the algorithm kept suggesting these cute girls in maid outfits and I just dismissed them as a bs gimmick. But the algorithm was persistent and I finally gave in. Secret My Lips was their first video I watched. I couldn't believe my ears. So good. So musically creative. So hard! Next was Domination live. Then Onset live. I thought rock was dead but it was reborn in Japan. Band-Maid has given me so much joy these past few years. Thanks algorithm!

@@roqy Cool you came from The Wagakki Band, it's usually the other way round. I'd suggest, if you haven't already come across them, Greta Van Fleet, as they have a "Led Zep'"vibe going, while still being their own dynamic.

@@gordowg1wg145 My assimilation actually started with Atarashii Gakko, then H ZETTRIO and Wagakki Band. Along the way, Necry Talkie also lodged itself under my skin beside Hanabie and Gacharic Spin.

@@roqy Cool! I don't know Necry talkie, must check them out, thank you. necrophila are also very good, and for a decidedly "metal" vibe, "Lovebites" - they're usually a bit much for me - the vocals, but I do recommend them to my "metal" friends. A friend caught "Unlucky Morpheus", I think it was, in Paris, a few years ago, and they're one of his favourites.

@@gordowg1wg145 Necry Talkie is kind of a different planet. Much lighter vibe. Kind of garage band persona with self deprecating videos, tongue in cheek. They did the opening themes for Girlfriend Girlfreind and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Seem to have some sort of tie to vocaloid that I never investigated. Can't quite put a finger on their appeal, but I always check out their new stuff, and always like it.

I happened across Band-Maid in late 2019 after searching for Baby Metal and they were suggested on a side bar for "Thrill", and I've never looked back! Down the Pigeon Hole hard core now! All I can say is my wallet hates me now, lol!

Saiki's delivery on this one is more like her live performances, than a lot of their earlier studio stuff. Their last few studio releases have been well mixed! Protect You is part of that high energy anime-commissions family of BAND-MAID songs, with ones like Shambles, Sense, and Different.

Epic music! As dense as a flourless chocolate torte and just as darkly sweet! Such an amazing group they've throwing away riffs that we can barely hear without breaking it down with a computer program that isolates the layers. Ooo La lalalalala!😮

How many videos do you have to stop to catch your breath? I understand the anime that they created the song for is titled Grendizer something. It's really popular in France. I guess that why there a lot of "Ou lala, lalas" in it.
