JIMMY PAGE OF ( LED ZEPPELIN ) loves this band. He met the group back stage and asked if he could have his picture taken with the drummer( AKANE ) she thought it was a dream ( it was not ) a rock legend like that giving props to the girls, how awesome is that.Jimmy Page( LED ZEPPELIN) just after seeing the band play in Tokyo in 2016. He complimented Akane. Akane was star struck. She later said Mr Jimmy Page-san offered her much encouragement and she promised to do her best. The talent level is off the charts, These girls are flat out ROCK STARS. SHRED ON LADIES...

and rumor has it...Page might be somewhat familiar with what a great drummer sounds like.... (and guitarist, bassist, singer, etc). Aakane reminds me a lot of Keith Moon, TBH.... so close to being over the top/out of control..yet always manages to keep it right where it needs to be. Lover her aggressive drumming attack and fills.

@@bishopsteiner7134 Yea wasn't he in a band, what was it ah LED ZEPPELIN ( LOL)? I have seen in other comments that Jimmy Page said that Akane drumming style remined him of his late band mate John Bonham. I have yet to find the translation of that comment in any of his interviews about Band-Maid?

I happened to be a the Nagoya Diamond Hall show where Band-Maid introduced Onset. A friend had an extra ticket, so I got an upgrade from #170-something to #24, so I was right on the rail right next to a Japanese fan I had met at the J-Pop summit show the year before. I was blown away by the song because I wasn't expecting anything new to be played, and certainly not a instrumental. Even the crowd was a little less raucous than usual until the end of the song because everyone seemed to just be trying to take it in. But, the crowd blew up at the end of it; it's so freaking good live, just like all their songs.

Type A Blu-ray included. This is practically an instructional video focusing on each band member's performance and playing. Many earlier "complaints" about Band-Maid concerned the jump cuts in previous MV's and the inability to follow what each band member actually contributes to the tune. It is the next best thing to actually standing 10 feet away from the stage and witnessing first hand this remarkable talent. Trust me on this: there wasn't anything "compressed" about the stellar performance these ladies put on at the Echoplex. Band-Maid is first and foremost a live performance band. And who could have seen that the Japanese recording industry would deliberately sabotage their own product? Cause that is what some of you reviewer would have us believe. And why is Band-Maid singled out for this when it occurs on every record released by all the top rock acts in Japan? For you guys in the Rust Belt Band-Maid appears at Inkcarceration 2020 on July 11th. This festival drew 20,000 last year. There is an old saying whom l am addressing to no one in particular that says those who can do. Those who can't teach. And those who can't teach criticize. Currently, there is no better hard rock band on the planet.

pretty cool thing with this video, this was from the dvd that came bundled with their new album. There are three songs on the dvd that are broken up into multiple videos each focused on a different instrument so we can get a really good view of the finger and stick work to make copying the songs easier.

What I really like about Onset is that it is a proper song despite it being instrumental. No insane shredding, no crazy time signatures and so on. Just a proper song with a pretty classic verse, chorus and bridge thing going on. I think 8/10 is a pretty fair score!

So Onset is one of their live-only instrumentals. They have several, the one they played on the last US tour was called Don't Be Long and it was pretty cool too. Onset was recorded as a bonus track earlier this year for the first time and the video was an extra on their last album with a feature that lets you focus on each individual instrument.

All great band have their own sound and formula. Bandmaid has the instantly recognizable sound. Even their instrumental like don't be long and without holding back have that. But of course without their 'poppy' vibe. I see many metal/rock musicians struggle with 'timing' that's one thing band-maid don't have problem with, keeping up with Akane's idiosyncratic beat changes.

It's weird that Band-Maid don't record their instrumentals. They have this one, Without Holding Back, Don't Be Long, and Go Nuts. Anyone wanting to listen to Onset has had to rip it off KZread, while Without Holding Back and Don't Be Long are only out there as fan-cam recordings. Go Nuts has, I believe, been performed live, but only in Japan, where cameras are not allowed into gigs. The best fan-cam of this is probably from London earlier in the year kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6hkz9SglZy1drg.html where, if it wasn't for the mic struggling with Akane's cymbals, you'd almost think it was a pro (audio) recording.

I took a minute or so of this studio version DVD and then joined afterwards, the same section played live. I did this to show the FB group Band Maid Fans Worldwide, how if they choose Band Maid, can match what is produced in the studio, on stage. For musicians of their level, this is basically a 'walk in the park' and from my understanding, the track is used when Saiki, has a rest from singing. Unfortunately the FB group removed the video I made as it contravened their no copyrighted material policy. Thanks for your reaction. Without realising it, you exposed an issue I have when people make reaction videos, they will not in most cases carry out a rudimentary check of the video first. For the few talented folk who can make an entertaining, interesting and informative reaction videos, seeing parts of the video first, does not make less of a spontaneous reaction. Nor, does it ruin it for the viewer when the reaction video is paused occasionally and rewound to catch a section again. This is my opinion,. I know many folk are happy to watch a motionless, uniformed person not reacting to a video and then demand the viewer like and subscribe. Thank goodness, you and others can demonstrate differently.

Totally the wrong video for scoring. A. it's an Instrumental, so no Lyrics. And B. this is more of an instructional video. The series has a separate video for each player showing how they play their part. This is the final video of them playing the song all together. To do all five of them takes over 20 minutes.

Fair enough review but until you see the live version in April in 2018,you don't get the full picture. Music with the lighting is superb. Listen to all their live songs. The Maids do have a niche market and following and understand it's very difficult to rate these or any of their material higher as explained. It is different and will gain a greater appreciation by more when international travel resumes. Nothing like rave reviews of concerts to ignite the fan flame. They do have that secret formula now but just need to improve their English skills and incorporate more in their lyrics so the fans can relate to their songs. Their music does speak for itself though with all audiences being appreciative without the verbal communication. Miku is a great character so fans can always relate to her. Never underestimate the quality of musicianship these ladies have though. Misa on bass,Kanami on lead guitar and Akane on drums are some of the best in the world and their combined strength live proves that. That's something that will hold them in good stead when they eventually do get the chance to tour again. Magnificent lighting just adds to the experience and when you get the atmosphere as in these live shows,it's the perfect recipe for success.

I guess Kanami's shredding sounds rough around the edge sometimes, which I absolutely love. It's her style and it fits the style of the song as well but if you look at her techniques and precision, I think there are better players in Japan. Having it said, these girls just keep improving exponentially, so one day they'll reach 10/10.
