BAND-MAID is just amazing. I had given up on new music until I found them. They quite simply gave me the gift of joy in music that I had lost.

"Domination" is about them dominating the world with their music. The live performance is way better than the MV but the latter shows their way to dominate the world 😆By the way: "Keep running" and "looking forward" is a repeating theme in their songs. And you named it: A-KA-NE 🦍🍌 ... she is a beast and always smiling (watch "Freedom"!) And in some earlier videos she reminds me of "Animal", the incredible muppet drummer 😀 If you want to see Akane in action then watch "Freedom" (LIVE), "From now one" (MV) and "Influencer" (MV, with Saiki ... well ... also rapping!). And you must watch "Manners, Blackhole" (LIVE) and all the other fantastic songs.... They offer so much: Every time I watch them (especially live) their music makes me happy. Not only the mostly positive lyrics by Miku, the phantastic composition by Kanami. Also Akanes drumming and smiling, Mikus backing vocals, Misas fantastic bass tone, Saikis stage presence ... No other band influences my mood so much in a f**** good way.

Miku 🌹 rhythm guitar, backing vocals and founder of Band Maid is also the primary lyricist. Her lyrics are poetic, often cryptic, and almost always positive or inspirational. The translation to English often misses the mark (“get a lap,” “breaking new gate,” etc) but we just play along and enjoy. Saiki, lead vocals, has a brief rap segment “The non-fiction days,” OMV. Been there my friend! I'm convinced I'm physically addicted to their music. I had a visceral reaction especially to "Wonderland" and "Onset" when I started listening to them. I suggest both highly. And their live shows can make you levitate. Cheers.

Don't get hung up on the lyrics. Main lyricist Miku, tends to be poetic and open to multiple interpretations. Japanese fans have remarked that they often have problems understanding what she is saying.

Good one Mate - nice to have a description of how the music makes you feel. What you're experiencing, in Miku's world, is called "The Gap" - the dissonance between the maid image and the hard rocking music. It is on purpose, and makes the experience memorable. I call this song their "announcement" song, declaring their intention to dominate the musical world. And that happiness you feel is also a common experience in J-Rock, whatever the song topic. I think their "happiest" songs are Freedom (Live) and "Bestie", the last a more mid-tempo and very warm song. Enjoy the ride!

They're so damn good it brings a lump in your throat. Been there and it still happens almost eight years later, sometimes on the same songs. No other band has ever had that effect on me.

There’s a lot that gets lost in translation. Your gut feeling that it gets you pumped up and have a positive feeling was closer than trying to parse the lyrics. The basic gist is that their goal is to dominate the world with their music, and they talk about not letting people tell them that their goals are just a joke, or that they should just take the mundane path laid out for them. That you should express yourself and reach out to the “unseen world” (name of one of their albums), which kind of describes novelty, like an uncharted world of creativity waiting to be discovered. And just kind of general encouragement to keep running toward your loftiest goals, and make a name for yourself.
