    Before "Alone" Band-Maid was known as a good band. But when they wrote and recorded "Alone" they became known as great songwriters.

    I don’t think it’s her best solo, but I’ll say this: I literally burst into tears the first time I heard this song and this solo. I simply couldn’t believe that such a band actually existed today.

    The fact that this band isn't dominating all the charts globally kinda shows how out of touch (perhaps willfully, for whatever reason) the abysmal music industry really is. Not only are they amazing songwriters and musicians, but they do it all without the typical gratuitous sex appeal that sadly most female music talent is almost always required to offer. Ironically, that kind of makes them all the more attractive and appealing, imho. This is exactly the kind of band that people should want their daughters looking up to and taking inspiration from. Talented, disciplined, creative, hard working, and they do it all on their own terms. Rare to find a band that is not only incredibly awesome but also great role models at the same time.

    Totally agree with you! Yes, the music industry is willfully mediocre, that way they can sell all they want and make easy money... it's a business after all :/ Music became fast food crap and the only thing we can do is sharing good songs with people curious enough to try more complex things. Let's support this amazing band and give them all the respect, the love they deserve ;)

I mean, from the initial concept of sweet Miku, to the end result, how does that happen? Alone is one of three Band-Maid videos I have been watching in rotation since the beginning of September. Thrill and Alone for their historical context. Their 1st video (and the one that got them noticed) and 1st all Band-Maid only song, and Chemical Reaction because I just really love it. I don't think it gets enough credit for being such a great rocker. I probably watch these 3 videos 15 or more times each day during the week, and many more times on the weekends. Just to spice things up a bit, I throw Shambles into the mix every so often. These 5 young musicians are the best. I cut my musical teeth on the British invasion groups of the sixties, and then fell in love with the hard rock hay day of the eighties and early nineties. Band-Maids music brings back so many wonderful memories for me. I hope they have many more years of awesome music ahead of them, and for us the fans.

    Agree, we dont listen with our eyes, we got stuff for that, when I originally picked up on BM about 4-5 years ago it was off the back of Spotify playlists, tracks just kept coming up and I kept liking them, after a few weeks I went and found out about what I was hearing, I have to say that had I seen them before I listened I probably would not (to my shame) have given them the chance (due to the whole maid thing) but happily I heard them first. Have had similar in the past where I would look at a band and think "If had not heard you before seeing you....." so its a hard and fast rule for me now, we see with our eyes, but we do no hear with them, we got stuff for that. Its sorta human nature but its a crap part of it - though tbf, how often to music companies try to sell an act with looks rather than talent - pretty often so i suppose its wise to keep some level of suspicion (or lets call it balance) when viewing bands

    @@Maple8man 私は65です。今まで日本のロックはほとんど聴いてきていません。今だにbandmaid以外ですと昔の洋楽、例えばloan me a dime のduane allman、santanaのsong of the wind、freeのbe my friendとかを聴くことが多いです。

    Akane has an amazing attack, so precise and most amazing of all she doesn't "click the rims" like a lot of drummers do when they play fills. Everything is precise and even. Many drummers favor one hand over the other and you can also notice that on the fills making for an uneven beat but Miss Metronome here freeking nails it with even strokes. I would put her in the category of top female drummers who happens to be better than a lot of male drummers. Regardless, she is one of my top five rock drummers of all time and that is going up against some really tough competition. The whole band together makes for some of the most perfect, butt kicking rock and roll I have ever heard in 53 years of listening to rock and roll and playing drums. I really can't say enough about these amazing ladies, they will only get better in the upcoming years. Seeing them is on my bucket list that is for sure!

    What you should listen for with Akane is dynamic control with her feet. Regarding which her only serious competition are Bonzo and Joe Morello. Dunno about you but I'd say that puts her top of the class.

  • @Liddledriver

    @Liddledriver

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, I should have added the fact that she is solid with the foot work too, her use of the Roland multplier is perfect and makes for an incredibly precise and even double bass drum beat which is almost impossible to duplicate with twin kickers due to phyisiological challenges for most drummers. It is hard to make an apple for apple comparison of drummers just as there is for guitarists but let me end with this, Akane is a natural drummer, she is just made for the drums and has obviously an amazing natural talent. Anyone can beat on the drums but do they have natural rhythm and timing? Akane does with no struggle whatsoever whereas some drummers are at the furthest reaches of their technical abilities and it shows. Akane will only get better and will not have to extend herself to do it. I would love to sit down with her and discuss her influences and technique but until then I will be happy to just listen.

    The smartest thing this band ever did (well, Kanami, I think) was getting Miku playing rhythm guitar instead of hiring a skilled player. Miku plays basic barre chord Johnny Ramone style punk rock guitar, and it gives Kanami room to do what she does without the song losing anything. Most bands of skilled musicians would never think to do that, and was a genius move. Sometimes I see morons whining about Miku not being talented enough, but what she does is perfect for the songs, and those people are completely clueless about why this band sounds so good.
