Scary that this version is now nearly as old as the original was then.
This is - by far - the best „cover“ version of the original recording of 1984 👌🏻

Agreed. Every good cover sticks as close to the original as possible and adds some modern elements. I'll always love the original, but this is excellent. Don't bother with the 30th Anniversary version. Lyrics are changed and it simply sucks.
We need Dido back what a voice

Paul McCartney is playing bass on this
This is my favourite version of this song, I mean... Radiohead and Paul Mccartney and Supergrass as band. Can't belive it isn't played more.
Seqrched so long for this version. I really love the part at the begining where dido sings.
The simplicity of the instrumental and vocals of the original made it way better
I feel the break down part is magical and hits home what the song is about we've now had do they know it's Christmas 30 sad thing is the suffering is still out there one day we may unite to stop this have a great Christmas all enjoy with family and friends
Bono and his part in the original this version and Band aid 30 version can’t wait till band aid 40
A dizzee rascal rap. What a time to be alive!!
As long as people are still suffering and starving there is a need for this! Sad that we need reminding that this is an ongoing issue! Bravo! Sad but inspiring! 💛
I think this is the best band aid

I'm 30 and i remember this version. I love it because reminds me the 2000's
No matter what you think of the singers or how it sounds, what you’ve got to remember is that this is real love. Famous people coming together to help out the famine in Africa. Giving their own time to raise awareness and money for a cause bigger than themselves. This is what we need to see more of, especially with the rise of inequality growing ever more prevalent in society

THE REAL QUESTION IS : DO THEY KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS
literally here just for paul
What a beautiful thing hearing these voices carrying on from the original band aid. And to see chris Martin bono and Paul McCartney participating. Well well done.
Best bit, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead and the Darkness at 3.37.
This song is do beautiful
I loved the original but it has been 20 yrs since than and it was nice
Best version by far. Radiohead vibes, pre-sellout Coldplay, prime Robbie, Darkness, travis, Sugababes... Great

Best voice: Justin Hawkins by far🥰
I love this version.
This song - by which I mean this specific version - is my favourite Christmas song. I know that the original Do They Know It's Christmas? is the most liked, but I'm not sure if it's because more people think it's objectively the best or are just influenced by nostalgia. Personally, this version is the best for me, not because it's the first version I heard, but because it's more of a rock version mixed with the pop stars of 2004 rather than an emphasis on the electronic sounds that the original and the 1989 versions had. And 2014's Band Aid 30 - I just found it comparatively boring except for Bono and Seal's singing which sadly wasn't enough to save it for me, nor even Queen's Roger Taylor on drums. With this version there's guitar work from Justin and Dan Hawkins from The Darkness (which I think worked additionally as compensation for them when Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) would've been a far better Christmas Number One the year before than Michael Andrews and Gary Jules' depressing cover of Mad World) and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. Paul McCartney also returns to play bass guitar. There's drumming from Supergrass' Danny Goffey, piano work from Radiohead's Thom Yorke and keyboard playing from Sparks' Ron Mael. And I think the vocalists went really well with it, along with Bono returning to reprise his line. Also Busted were among the singers, which was a plus for me when they were my favourite band at the time (and I thought Charlie Simpson looked kind of cool at the front of them with a guitar even if he didn't record anything from it), as well as Robbie Williams who was my first favourite solo singer. And I don't even see why people were upset at Dizzee Rascal's new lines thrown in there, even when I'm not into his music at all. It's not like his lyrics were out of place or pretentious. So glad that, despite this version being rather underrated, it was still the UK's Christmas Number One in 2004. I just don't get why this video's been difficult for me to find on KZread, even though it was published a decade ago.

Yes! Agreed. Glad others out there think the same thing. This version was nice and unpretentious, ya know? It got people singing along (again), and for its time was a modern remake of the 1984 original. I thought the singers blended well with one another, it wasn't all "listen to me-me-me" like whatever garbage they produced for Band-Aid 30 in 2014. They might produce another one in 2024 - hopefully, it follows in a similar essence to 2004.

It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time But say a prayer, Pray for the other ones At Christmas time it's hard, but when you're having fun There's a world outside your window And it's a world of dread and fear Where the only water flowing Is the bitter sting of tears And the Christmas bells that ring There are the clanging chimes of doom Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time The greatest gift they'll get this year is life Where nothing ever grows No rain nor rivers flow Do they know it's Christmas time at all? Here's to you Raise a glass for everyone Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived If the table was turned would you survive Here's to them Underneath that burning sun You ain't gotta feel guilt just selfless Give a little help to the helpless Do they know it's Christmas time at all? Feed the world Feed the world Feed the world Feed the world Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again Feed the world Let them know it's Christmas time again

This is the best remake of any of them. As someone who was around for the original, I feel like this one paid true homage and brought new energy while really recapturing and adding to the spirit of the original. The 1989 version was awful but this was good!! ❤
Will Young and Jamilia though... ohhhfffff NAUGHTY.
Paul McCartney, Bono. Ya that's about all I recognize here. Don't have a clue who the rest are. But I'm an 80's guy & knew all of the original Band-Aid artists in '84. Should have never tried to remake a classic.

I love the original, but I disagree with all the negative comments about this version. I think it's great. There is no reason not to remake such a classic for a new generation - especially if it creates awareness of the issues it represents, and raises money to help those in need. I enjoyed this (mostly) new generation of artists rediscovering and reinterpreting this classic song in their own way. And I'm sure a lot of other people also loved it. The artists performing it seemed to.
I wish, there would be another band aid

I guess you people out there stop comparing which version is the best or worst for you. These artists just did their part for the sake of charity. Kudos to sir Bob Geldof who has been spearheading this project to help those who are suffering from famine and poverty even up to now. Merry Christmas to everyone!
