Thank you for showing the neighborhood, I live in Tanzania and I heard about Banana island from Nigerian friends compare with Tanzania rich neighborhoods, something us Africans need to up our rich neighborhoods designs a little, the idea is good, set up is good, big streets, it feels safe, but I was expecting in Banana Island to see more amenities in the Banana Isalnd than just Big homes, I was expected to see modern playgrounds for childrens, Golf courses, Tennis courts, fancy libraries with huge glass windows, jogging areas, Fire Station, public transportation for workers to take them from the main gate to different streets they work, instead of those workers walking in the streets, how can a jogger enjoy their run? Well we are still work in progress, Greetings from Tanzania 🇹🇿 🇹🇿 🇹🇿

Excellent views, certainly the area, a neighborhood that is so much talked about as being for the exclusive few surely does not strike me as one. The streets are drab, and so are the general layout. Just as you've aptly captured, folks of all kinds everywhere on the sidewalks, that does not speak well of a so called pricey enclave. The vehicular roadways are not lined, making drivers meandering everywhere. Again, your observations are right on the money. Cheers.

This shows how Nigeria has deteriorated in 35 years. I lived on fifth avenue in Festac in 1990 and it was more beautiful than this. Ilupeju, Ikeja GRA, Bodija and Iyaganku GRA in Ibadan back then was much more cleaner and more beautiful than this. This cannot be Nigeria’s best or richest neighborhood. That will be sad.

I prefer lekki estates with good security and low fences it's modern. The type of houses here are fast becoming archaic. Arcadia grove , osapa London, ikate estates are more like it for me . I will be bored to death here with all these olden days houses.

Nice video! Though it didn’t wow me. I expected more from almighty Banana island. I expected paradise on earth, like streets made of gold, marble and all that. Rather it looks more like a regular estate in some parts of Nigeria. I think it’s overhyped and overpriced. My opinion, though.

It may be the most expensive neighborhood in Nigeria, but not the most elegant. The humongous houses are walled off thereby taking away the beauty of the neighborhood. The open sewage and pool of water by the streets are an eyesore. So, if one should fork over money to purchase a property in that neighborhood, is he/she paying for the comfort or name of the community?

Folks all over the comments section are all about the place looking normal and having fences and nothing being special about it. Please how many estates here have roads that are this wide? How many estates have houses this spaced out? The size of the average house here destroys what you will find in most places. Many extremely affluent neighbourhoods around the world have gated houses, so I wonder what the fuss is about, they value privacy, simple. Some people are saying the place wasnt planned, that's very false, the estate still has a whole lot of empty land that's why it might seem like that. Besides she didn't even cover 1/4 of the entire place, the place is very big.

I wouldn't like to live in the environment, apart from being secured the area is not blessed with architectural beauty. Despite being developed in modern era it has no architectural definition. Slap-on building designs is not for people with good taste in architecture. The area should had been a cradle of architectural modernism. I think Fela would call it overpriced nonsense.

Thanks Tolu for showing Banana Island in Lagos State. But the question remains, who are the people building this mansion and introducing us to individuals that own them. Since they say Igbos travels any where and everywhere making forest into residential and darkness into lights, they are the most sociable and can mixup with any race and become your friends if not family. If this place called Ikoyi is save for living didn’t the end SARS shooter happens in Ikoyi. I have had and seen car snatchers and even phone snatchers patrolling Ikoyi, home invaders, killers in Ikoyi so what else can you save about all this to attest to your ascension that ikoyi is the safest place to live in Lagos. Are you sure ISWAP, Fulani herdsmen, Northern Banditsand Bokohari is not there.
