At 3:39 I can see B230 on the block. The cranks in these blocks don't guide the con-rods(keep the con-rod centred in the cylinder bore). You need con-rod wrist pin spacers to keep the rod in the center of the piston, this set up works for the B230 crankshaft. The noise you are hearing is from the con-rod slamming side to side. If you don't add spacers to the piston's wrist pin then the con-rod will buckle and fuck the engine. Get in contact with Wisco or JE, or who ever made the pistons and tell them you need con-rod centering spacers.

Andrew Gallagher Im from sweden where b230s are very common and i've never heard of this before. Where did you get this facts from? Im not saying your wrong, just wondering!

Rostmeister B23 blocks have crank guided rods to centre them in the bore. B230's have piston guided rods to keep them centered. Volvo changed the crank design. Probably best to compare the two engines and compare the difference. :) Bamse's aftermarket rods may be wider at the big end to allow the crankshaft to keep the rods centered.

Andrew Gallagher Andrew everybody working with these redblocks knows the piston steer vs crank steered deal between "normal" Redblock and B230...and nobody in their right mind specifies rod big end width narrow like the original rods---If they have any sense they go 20,75mm on big end---same as b21/B23.... The major problem in piston steer is the pin bosses have to be very wide and then milled exactly to give the 0,25mm "float" and that means they are unusually wide bosses...None of the US made pistons worth having have enough material in the raw forgings to make the narrow 25,, needed to guide from piston..J7E and CP the gap in the raw forging is already 26-27mm... Just to note I have rods and pistons for these motors made to my spec--and specify full width big end, 24.75mm small end and supply CP Pistons..Done hundreds of them--and I specify a 7/16" size big end bolt...My rods are 160mm center to center and that makes a nice light piston...very nice stuff... If you look at 5:53 you see the rod from bottom and the width--using the rod bolt hole as a guide is about 3 times the bolt hole---it is full width. Those Swedes and Finns are no dummies when it comes to motors and the Redblock is "the Small block Chevy" of Sweden...easily 60% of the entries in Swedish rallies since the mid 90s (when they had killed all the Opel Asconas in the country) are Redblock powered volvos... Its the "MkII Escort" of Sweden.. Let's cross the fingers they find the problem---and find a way to torque the head properly.

I found the clacking problem! At 13:30 you can clearly see, on the cylinder head it says "sample". :D

the scratches on the pistons can be caused by low to no oil on the cylinder at initial start up maybe due to low oil pressure or an air lock...i would take a look at my oil pump to be sure that its ok

Is the knock/rattle caused by a bad injector or ignition timing? Just a suggestion :) Keep it up!
You should do a big montage of those slowmo machining shots with nice music in the end of the season. Those are beautiful
So can any one please explain in English what the problem was?
Just sharing some thoughts.. Have you checked the bearings in all "external" things like the alternator, the timing-belt wheel, steering-servo etc.? Maybe it's a dumb question but you didn't mention those things in the videos and it seems like you haven't found the problem yet so yeah.. just sharing some thoughts as i said!

Onko nää kaks viimeistä videoo enne vai jälkeen Tupla clipin? Vai tuliko vika sen videon teon jälkeen? Ei muita kysymyksiä. Loistavaa että vikaa ollaan etsimässä ja toivotaan että se löytyy ja päästään baanalle. Eetzille propsit että jaksat vääntää näitä videoita aina paranevalla laadulla!
