Amazing, being a baloch, I can surely say that the Baluchistan crisis cannot be explained more better.

I used to celebrate 14th August when I was a child around 10-15 years old and cause the kind of education I have received in school it motivated me to be a patriotic Pakistani. My dad and my uncle didn’t let me put the flag on the top of my house, instead scolded me and have been beaten by my dad and uncle. I asked why wouldn’t you let my put the flag on and they said “our brothers gone missing, our mutilated bodies are found”. I still didn’t trust them and only trusted what my teachers said or what education I have received from school. But one day they have come and picked some people from villages right infront of my eyes and made them disappeared who done nothing wrong, that day changed my perspective of Pakistan, I started digging into deeper and eventually I led myself to the right path of studies where I have received authentic and good knowledge, I turned out to be complete different person some people say i am anti Pakistan but I only speak what I study and what I have seen. Moral of the story, Pakistan security forces vicious crimes can make a patriotic person into a rebel

The burgeoning demand for freedom, in Balochistan, is rooted in history and has gained significant momentum because of the treatment of Balochistan and the Balochis as a captive and subjugated resource for exploitation and repression by the Pakistan State. 1) Historically, the accession of the Kalat State (as much of Balochistan was known prior to 1947) to Pakistan has always been questioned by Baloch nationalists. Ever since 1933, Ahmed Yar Khan was recognised by the British as the ruler of Kalat, subject of course to their suzerainty. Post 1947, Muhammad Ali Jinnah wished to grab Kalat but could not do so blatantly because Jinnah himself had recognised Kalat as a “non-Indian princely state” whereby, Ahmed Yar Khan was not bound (unlike other princely states of British India) to either accede to India or Pakistan or declare Kalat independent. Jinnah, therefore, adopted a circuitous route whereby Pakistan entered into “discussions” with Ahmed Yar Khan regarding accession to Pakistan and coerced him into signing the instrument of accession. Ahmed Yar Khan’s sell out of Balochistan to Pakistan triggered an immediate revolt by his brother, Prince Abdul Karim but succumbed later to the Pakistani military might. Meanwhile, Pakistan continued to treat Ahmed Yar Khan as the titular head of Kalat but finally dropped all pretence in 1955 and declared Balochistan to be a province of Pakistan. Ever since then, the people of Balochistan have repeatedly staged movements to free themselves of Pakistani shackles, either seeking independence or greater provincial autonomy, but have been put down brutally by the Pak ruling junta. 2)Economically, the rich mineral wealth of Balochistan has been consistently exploited for the benefit and enrichment of the Pak ruling elite to the exclusion of the Balochis themselves. Reserves of oil, coal, gas, gold and copper are located in the Reno Diq/ Saindak area; the bulk of the supply of gas within Pakistan comes from the Sui Gas field near Sibi in Balochistan; there are deposits of antimony around Zhob and Sulphur abounds around Koh-e-Sultan. Balochistan is blessed with fertile plains in the Lasbela area and fruit orchards flourish in Quetta. Balochistan accounts for almost the entire coastline of Pakistan with the only deep water port of Pakistan being the one at Gwadar. Unfortunately, Balochistan receives no royalties for the exploitation of its mineral wealth, far less any real employment opportunities for the local Balochis. The Gwadar port has been virtually farmed out to China. Virtual proprietary rights over Gwadar port that marks the end point of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has provided China with enormous commercial and strategic access to the Straits of Hormuz (for trade with the booming economies of the Emirates) and the Arabian Sea (for strategic leverage over the Indian Ocean). None of these developments have engendered employment or economic opportunities for the Balochis whose misery remains unaddressed. 3) Socially, the Balochis are a repressed and abandoned people. The literacy rate in Balochistan, at 26.6% is far behind the national average of 47% while only 25% of Balochistan is electrified as compared to the much better power supply position (75%) in the rest of Pakistan. Likewise, in all other indicators of human development, Balochistan trails well behind the other provinces of Pakistan. What would be the consequence of such a sorry set of circumstances? Inevitably, the desire for freedom has gained ground among the Balochis, who have also discovered that the heavy hand of the Pakistani State resorts ruthlessly to killings, abductions, incarcerations, kidnappings and other forms of tyranny and repression every time the people of Balochistan voice their aspirations or take to struggle. The signs in Balochistan do not portend well for Pakistan. It lost East Pakistan is very similar circumstances and unless the sorry plight of the Balochis is addressed and their aspirations provided the means of realisation, discontent and the desire for freedom could well assume proportions that even the worst of repression by Pakistan may fail to subdue.

Any Indian listening to him is getting real ground report , not like ISI projects like Arzoo( who lives stone throw away from ISI Islamabad office ) or her Husband Fakhar Youshuf. They r making inroads to indian common homes and testing time and again paddling fake news like dawood death , and not all the Pakistanis are evil, listen to him instead . Just doing reporting wothout any Bias or Agenda

As usual, excellent analysis by Muzammil. I remember meeting Sher Muhammad Marri alias General Sheroff in 1979 at Kazi Hall Karachi at a valima reception of my uncle. The great Mairaj Muhammad Khan was also there. On that day I came to know that both Marri sahib and his brother Khair Bakhsh Marri were highly learned leaders. They had full grip on German & Russian languages. I request Muzammil to do a programme on Hassan Nasir Shaheed.

Honestly reviewed on history and present of Balochistan. But one thing you didn't clearly describe that is. ' Khan of Kalat and his all family were on gun point and he was forced to sine the documents by which an independent state of Balochistan was merged with Pakistan.
