The so-called “ribs” came into the tournament hairstyle thanks to the stylists and are still very loved by dancers. They are worn in standard and Latin, in all start classes and age groups. And they seem to suit everyone.
However, I have three warnings
A ribbed hairstyle is not easy. The finer the ribs, the harder it is to lay them neatly. And a messy ribbed hairstyle looks pretty miserable. So, feel free to try it yourself! But only wear it on the tournament if it looks tidy!
The lighter the hair, the better the ribs are visible. On very dark hair, the ribs are harder to perceive. Therefore, the reliefs on dark hair should be quite strong. The finer the ribs, the stronger!
I often see how the ribs are laid without crimping. I would advise against that. Clean laying is not possible without crimping, and we don’t need it messy.
