ballroom blitz Intro shuffle pattern
Музыка
This the classic drum intro to the song Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet originally played by Mick Tucker. I've demonstrated it on my Roland TD-20 triggering the on-board sounds. The 13" Snare drum is made by British company JOBEKY. Hope you find this informative.
The thing to remember is to start slowly and get it sounding crisp, then speed it up gradually, concentrating on groove and keeping relaxed.
Link to the whole song...not played naked !!

That bass drum coordination's the tricky bit ...
Thank you took me about 30 minutes to learn, then I forgot it the next day. So I’m doing it again!
Man you even look like Tucker 😀 thanks for the awesome shuffle
FANTASTIC! Thank you so much for helping me with this. Slowing it down and explaining there is no double sticking really helped me get it and now I can work on it. You are a terrific teacher who approaches it from the student's perspective. Cheers!
Great to watch how to play the greatest drum intro ever..!!! And i'm not even a drummer..!! 😊👍
Thank you so very much haven't picked up a drum stick for thirty years but thanks to you I've bought a practice pad so here goes
This guy is good at explaining the the actual theory.
My era, and a great one to get going on! Superb lesson thankyou!
Badass! Simple, to the point, brilliantly presented and with a Limey accent.
It's about midnight now and I laughed waaayy too hard at 1:07!!! Didn't See that one coming:'D You did a brilliant job there! Gotta love the Sweet. Mick Tucker is one tragically underrated drummer.

@@johnbarry1965just happened to be listening to that one again yesterday on my vinyl of the rainbow live album 👌🏻 some very decent drumming it is
sounded spot on mate.not many get the feel right and not many get the ghost notes to sound linear underneath the beats which is what the tone comes from .cheers
I found this video very helpfull. I like your style of teaching, you made it easy to understand. Thank you very much.
That was a great breakdown! Good vid.
Great demo. The kick really makes this beat. Desolation BLVD is a personal favorite. I saw some live video from this fall and Andy has a great Sweet band, still out there working and sounding incredible.
Thanks Jon really helpful I have to learn this for our 70s covers band.
Great video man, playing this for a swing dance, wanted to get it right so peole will, you know, dance to it.
Great video LOVE THE HAIR BROTHER!
Excellent tutorial! I'm using this to help me with Rude Mood. Thank you.
Great talent, communication and humor!!!
Good Job man. Cool. Groovy. Love it. Kicks As.
Thanks bud, a great break down, I will need a lot of work to fit in the base drum, hey will eventually smash it. Thanks again.

Very good at drums 1 of my favorites😆
Comfortably presented, nice :-)
Yesterday I began i try and nail this song. The single elements aren't that tricky, but I can't for the life of me synch up the bass while focusing on the snare beat. I might just have to play the snare until the beat becomes second nature.
Excellent
very tricky for me yes beginner I was accenting 1st beat and couldn't make the turnaround finally paid attention yes have no training learning on my own a rough road!
THANKS SO MUCH DUDDDDE
Wooooow....Love it ☝️☝️☝️☝️😍😍😍
Have you a video on how to play Let there be drums?
Thanks,Jon.
Great, thank you much
Thank U mate !
nice.
In addition to the accented snare notes, are you making them rim shots? Kinda sounds like it.

Yes Golden Earring stole it from Mick Tucker. But Mick Tucker stole it from Sandy Nelson. And on and on it goes

Mick Tucker did´nt steel it. Nicky Chinn or Mike Chapman did. One of them heard Sandy Nelson do the drumbeat and showed it to Mick, and Mick adapted it and played it on Ballroom Blitz. True story.

@@Merca230e Yep you're right. Mike Chapman did it, not Mick. He had been a drummer before he started working with the Sweet.
There's NO shuffle feeling at all in Mick Tucker's version. But adding a shuffle feeling to it is quite interesting though.

Slow it right down you'll hear it's definitely swung
Not quite correct (I don't hear there shuffle, just straight sixteenths), but helpful for beginners... maybe. Anyway, thanks for a tribute to great drummer Mick Tucker. Buy the way (IMO) - nobody can play this beat better, than Mick did.
