finally a game simulating the thrill of being a taco bell meal

I played this game on my old 1GHZ AMD athlon and it was incredible back then.

Yeah that Is definately some speed! Makes you wonder how big the maps are and how long they would be with IRL measurements.

The game has real world speed measurements mph and kmph. I bet...someone with a lot more time and mathematical knowhow could figure it out. But yeah im guessing they are extremely long

GRIN would go on to reform as Overkill Software and develop the Payday series. They still use the same engine to this day, meaning one of the most popular co-op shooters to date on PC got its start thanks to Ballistics.

haha, loves this game, saw you driving and i was like LEEEEEEFT (goooong) told yaaa. My brain still knows this tracks in and out. I won so many bets with my friends with this game. :D

This came as a pack in game with my GeForce FX 5600 back in the day, probably the only game capable of making that card look impressive with it´s speed. That being said, I was never able to get into it since it always felt way too fast for it´s own good.

Yeah at a certain point the speed is impossible to handle and it boils down to pure luck. It's so cool but unfortunately makes the game not as good due to the blinding speed.

I suggest stereoscopic 3d in a virtual reality headset, it can be done on most games. Install reshade, select depth3dvr shaders.

idk if you are still looking to try and find this arcade or if this place still has it, but there is an arcade in Springfield MO called 1984 that had a cabinet for this ( i dont think it was one of the moving ones though been a few years since i have been)

It's not a lie, but I think this game will forever be almost completely forgotten compared to the likes of Wipeout, Redout, similar games in that vein, and of course the big 2, Extreme-G and the F-Zero series. It's just kind of...boring, in comparison to those. Even though I know it's going fast as hell, I somehow manage to get more of a rush from F-Zero GX's mission 5 with everything flying past me than this claustrophobic tube. And that's just from watching footage of either. Even Thumper, which has no numbers to tell you how fast you're going and no real sense of reality either, managed to convey a better sense of its speed.

I would agree. I try not to compare titles for the sake of preservation....but if we were to rank this among other scifi racers it'd be very low. Ballistics will be forever forgotten because it's not nearly as good as F Zero X or Wipeout

this game is much more fun that fzero or wipeout which are boring every second futuristic pc racing games is better that those two overrated kids crap

@@oldschoolracinggames5729 There ain’t nothing going on in it man. It’s a long tube for thousands of kilometers with obstacles in it. It’s not even “F-Zero and Wipeout” it’s “Practically any racing game,” this one is fast but visually boring in comparison. Lol.

@@CDROMFossil i played all 3 major f zero just now and man, they are boring. No sense of speed at all. Ballistics has hilarious challenge due to it hyperspeed.

Cool review of a pretty crazy-looking game! Unfortunately, it looks like the devs prioritized hitting that 'fastest racer' trophy over making a fun player experience.

Nah I don't know about all that. F-Zero has characters, story, distinctly different tracks, kickin' OSTs. F-Zero X is one of my all time favorites.
