    A few answers: - the "half-shoes" they wear have the purpose to reduce friction that there would be between the bare skin and the carpet -the costumes are called leotards just as in dance -their age goes from 15 years old as gymnasts enter the senior competitions the year they turn 16 -if you miss a catch points are deducted from your score, if the apparatus (the ball for example) rolls or bounces away you are either faster than it and you catch it quickly or you run to grab the substitute apparatus that has been put on the side of the carpet -yes they get injured quite often if anyone suspect that -yes the tension is REAL Also you should try to watch the group competition, so much goes on at the same time it's so powerful (the athletes in the single competition are not the same ones as in the group one, just for clarity) Love from Italy ❤🇮🇹

    Ex gymnast and judge here! Loved all your reactions. I'll try to answer all of your questions :) 1:32 they're clubs not maracas :D 1:50 if you loose an apparatus (be it rope, hoop, ball, one ore both clubs, or ribbon) you just pick it up and keep going. the deduction for the loss of the apparatus can be from -0.50 up to -1.00, depending on how far from the gymnast if falls and how many steps are required for the retrieval. 2:00 yes gymnasts have definitely less turn out than ballerinas 2:19 we kept most of the ballet vocabulary :) 3:06 yes everything is in relevé, just not on pointe, and have to point our toes all the time 3:45 we also consider sickled feet to be bad, but imo there's definitely a lower standard than there is in ballet 4:38 that's a catch without hands, she blocked the club on the floor with the other club (admittedly the club was not supposed to fall that far way from her) 5:20 identical twins! Dina and Arina Averina! (you got it in the end ;D) 6:35 BLR is Belarus, it's near Russia 7:41 rhythmic shoes are usually called toe shoes 8:20 Linoy (ISR) doesn't have the same legs as the Russians but she's still the current world silver medalist :) 8:41 RGymnasts' backs are a mix of natural flexibility and good training, but it's definitely not unusual to have back problems during or after their career 9:20 that's called a boomerang. you basically throw the stick and then retrieve it by pulling at the ribbon fabric 9:40 she got a bit tangled in the ribbon 10:26 usually Dina is the one with higher scores 11:14 Averinas were born in 1998. gymnast become senior the year they turn 16, they usually stop competing between 22 an 26 13:07 RG is definetly the extreme version of dance! Let me know if you have any other question. if you want to react to other RG videos, i suggest the routines that use famous ballet music, eg Swan Lake, I'd like to know what you think about those :)

  • @virginiaandreotti

    @virginiaandreotti

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@jjjjjjjjj934 no rule about repeating a routine. You could theoretically perform the same routine for 4 years in a row or change it every competition. Usually gymnasts change their routine every year. If a routine doesn't work out, like they keep getting low scores or making mistakes, they might change it mid season. Or if a routine works really well they might keep it for 2 years. But still even if the routine stays the same they keep tweaking and adjusting it, so the beginning of season version might be almost completely different from the end of the season version

    As a Rhythmic Gymnast who took up Ballet after retiring from RG, this is so much fun to watch! You should do this again, but with videos of gymnasts like Yana Kudryavtseva, Alexandra Merkulova, Alina Kabaeva, etc. In the first video, they're called clubs, not maracas. If you miss/drop an apparatus, you get a deduction and lose out on whatever element you miss to pick up the apparatus. Fouettes in RG have a different technique because we don't do turnout, and we have to manipulate the apparatus while turning, so we don't get to use our arms for support. Everything is in the legs and lower core. In video 2, yes that was an intentional 'drop', it's called a trap. Belarus (Bell-uh-roos) is not part of Russia - the gymnast is Katsiaryna Halkina and she's insanely talented. Her ball routines are out of this world. The "Foot thongs" are called toe shoes :)

    Actually its not that true. Like every sport injuries happen but in rythmic gymnastics you do tons of back strengthening exercises so its actually helps people with back problems sometimes. It is true that it gets a lot harder over the years to use this kind of flexability and train that intensly so that why gymnasts stop at an early age:)

    hey claudia, i’m not sure if you’ll even see this but I want to thank you for really inspiring me to start ballet again. I’ll explain my story. I started ballet when I was about 6 and continued to do RAD exams until I was 11. I used to enjoy it but once we got to about 7 or 8 years old we switched teachers to the stricter one because she was more specialised in ballet. The first year or so were great, she genuinely seemed like a good teachers, just strict, but it changed as we grew older. She claimed to have our best interests at heart but she often made “jokes” about our weight (she would say that we should stop eating pasta because it made you bloated) or my height which I was VERY insecure about at the time (I am quite short for my age). She didn’t know that I was insecure about it but it still wasn’t her place to comment about it. One time she pushed me over and said that I fell over because I had bad balance and then tried to get me to push her over and when I couldn’t, said it was because she had good balance. (she was a grown adult and I was a small 11 year old girl and had just fallen over so of course I wouldn’t be able to push her over!) This is just a few things that happened but along with a couple of over reasons I decided to quit ballet after that year. (I still danced because I love it but I did other styles instead just dropped ballet.) I discovered your KZread channel at the start to middle of this year and it has really inspired me to start ballet again. I have decided that next year I am going to start ballet again! I really did not want to go back to that same teacher but have instead decided to try a new ballet program and my dance school that they started this year in which we won’t do RAD exams, it’s a more relaxed class and we won’t do pointe. I thought this was a better option than moving studios because I don’t want to leave my friends and I do like the studio that I’m at. I love you so much Claudia and I hope you understand how much you have helped me. thank you so much💖

    Thank you for this video, Claudia. As much as I admire the art etc., yes, I had various girls in my dancing school after they left. They had serious back etc. injuries at the age of 16 and it was so sad. There is a part of the national team in my home town and they had famous eastern europe teachers but when I heard about the methods, I am speechless, I`m sorry. I think health and humanity are first and I hope this is changing EVERYWHERE where there is emphasis on "achieving the supernatural" in sports, art, etc. We need this. NOW. Lots of love, Heike

    I loved your positive reaction to this sport. I used to be rhythmic gymnast when I was younger, and honestly, I remember ballerinas being a little bit snobbish towards gymnasts, considering the sport to be like a "lower" form of dance. Even though gymnastics definitely takes some things from ballet, the technique is completely different.

    I did gymnastics, not rhythmic though, from when I was 2 to about 11 or 12. I was living in America, and then Singapore when I stopped. The gym options were limited, and I was not improving. The kids my age were doing much more advanced stuff. So, I quit and went to dance. Best decision of my life. The flexibility and just the movements really helped me in dance. I've only been dancing about 4 or 5 years, but I think I have progressed very fast, in comparison to someone who might have started at the same time as me without the gym training.

    “What happens when you miss one” In a competition on three of the four sides of the carpet are hoop,clubs,ball,ribbon,robe at a point you miss catching (etc ) your apparatus you have the choice of to go to the side and get one of the spare apparatus or get your own back depending on how far away it went. if you are closer to the side go there! If your apparatus goes off the carpet then don’t get it because if you look all the way around the carpet you can see a red line and if you even step a foot out that line you loose points. When you are retrieving your apparatus how many steps you take to get there will be attend to your final score (for worse not good) I don’t want to go any further into detail for this but I hope that answers your question 💕

    Most Rhythmic Gymnasts peak around 17-22 and very few continue after 23 I believe (they retire due to injuries) :) If I'm not mistaken, the Averinas were around 18 in this video, they're very famous when it comes to RG (rhythmic gymnastics). If you continue this series, I recommend watching Yana Kudryavtseva for her elegance and excellent body lines, and for the WOW factor, Lala Kramarenko, who is 15 in 2020 and has amazing turns. Love this video! Oh and! If you want amazing fouettes, Boryana Kaleyn has the best out of Rhythmic Gymnasts, I'm not sure if they're clean, but its good

    As a ballet dancer (not high level) I have wondered about different techniques. I have to admit, it bothers me when I see things that aren't the same just because I am accustomed to the appearance of ballet technique. Knowing that it is meant to be done differently helps. I do wonder how a fouette not through devant achieves the "whip" that defines it.

    I am a rhythmic gymnast myself and if I’m being honest this video kinda triggers me but in a funny way 😅 but yes we do have a lot of training and how we do the “tosses” (basically the throw of the apparatus) we have to have a certain angle of the arm that we learn to toss the apparatus as one of the most basics in rhythmic gymnastics. Also for the feet, I would say the feet aren’t too far off of ballet feet because we are taught to turn out, and definitely point and extend the arch in the foot, so from the sickling I think it was most likely just bad technique. So if ur reading this rn you just learned a little bit more about rhythmic gymnastics 😌

I love watching you react as although I never competed I love rhythmics it’s so fun. Most of the gymnasts take a bunch of ballet but they are still quite different.
