Ballad of the Green Berets performed by The U.S. Army Band

Музыка

Special Forces was established as a basic branch of the U.S. Army in 1987. The branch's lineage, however, can be traced to June of 1952, when the 10th Special Forces Group - Airborne was activated.
The U.S. Army Band "Country Roads" pays tribute to the Green Berets with this performance of "Ballad of the Green Berets," originally written and performed by Green Beret Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler.

When this song came out during the Vietnam War, I had 2 Army brothers and I Marine brother in Vietnam at the time and all 3 came home safe. From the first time I heard this song, the tear flowed. And still today I can't hear it without tears on the 3rd course. Thank you for sharing. 💖 Just a little Military family I belong to. 5 Brother 4 Army, 1 Marine. 1 served in Korean War, 1 served in Germany during the Vietnam War, while the 3 youngest did in Vietnam. My Husband is an Army Vet. Our son severed in the Army during Iraqi Freedom, and now we have two Grandsons severing 1 an Army Medic, the other a Marine, in engineering. I so PROUD OF ALL OUR AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Our family has a long line of military service. My father-in-law retired from the Navy. He was stationed on an air craft carrier supporting troups in Vietnam. My dad was a medic in the Army during WWII. My husband retired from the Army, and he a disabled veteran. I spent the final 16 years married to him. We are still married and just celebrated our 49 anniversay. My son, also a disabled veteran, was in the Army and did two tours, about 30 months, in Iraq. My son-in-law, also a disabled veteran, did a tour in Iraq where he suffered TBIs and ended up with PTS. His vehicle was hit by mortors twice and hit two IEDs in his vehicle. Now, one of my granddaughters want to go into the Army. One is already on deferred entrance. She's passed all her exams and will go in when she has her children situated.

The song hit number 1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart in late February and stayed there for five weeks, going on to sell more than nine million records. I had high expectations for anyone who would dare to cover this song and the Special Forces did not disappoint. I think Sadler would be proud.

He fought in the Vietnam war and was well decorated for his actions there. But I know that I received some good training even short it was. The army has some good units in it. Some men are trained well and some aren't. One of the reasons I respect the Marines is because they are all trained well.

What's sixty thousand dead Americans for nothing right? You seem to like to brag about yourself and your murdering comrades , do you ever think about the women and babies that you and you war machine left rotting in the jungle , or the women and babies rotting under the rubble of buildings in the Middle East ? Nothing but respect, in spite of the fact we did everything we could to make them fail Robin Sage. From what I gather, they do it hungry and almost sleepless, while we stayed well fed and rested. Speaking from experience, that makes a huge difference.

A lot of our SF Troopers died in Vietnam. Then again there were an estimated 58,225 that were killed, another 304,000 that were wounded, and 2,413 that are considered Missing in Action. I don’t know for an absolute fact, but I’m fairly certain that every single one of them meant and still means a lot to them as well. My Uncle was an Army Captain (Huey Pilot) that was listed as MIA because they couldn’t recovery his remains. His status was finally changed to KIA. I lost 5 of my Brothers (Teammates, I was a 300F1 SF Medic). I’m sorry for your loss.

I was drawn to this song in 1968 when I used to hear it on the radio. I memorized it and to this day, continue to love and appreciate it and the sacrifices it refers to. The Army Band has done a beautiful job with it. As a Navy Veteran during Vietnam, I have an appreciation for the sacrifice each of us made for our country during that period. Thank you for this beautiful rendition!

Beautifully done. As an Army vet of Vietnam listening to this rendition made me weep. I was stationed at Ft.Bragg after Vietnam & saw a lot of Green Berets training. Americas Best.
