BALL JOINT ELIMINATORS the Ultimate Ball Joint Delete

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This time on Tech Tuesday Jake Burkey and Trey Rogers go over what Ball Joint Eliminators are, why you need them, and how to used them for the ultimate ball joint delete on your Super Duty Dana 60 Axles. These things are tougher than old school king pins and allow you to fit big bell RCVs or 1550 U-joints in your axles. Here at Busted Knuckle Off Road we use them on almost all of our rock bouncer builds. They take a ton of abuse in our custom 14 bolt axles that utilize super 60 knuckles. If they are tough enough for rock bouncing they should work great in your rock buggy, jeep, or crawler.

9:55 I really like that, it's a slick idea. What I like especially is that it's kind of a failsafe; the small bolt is likely to snap before the big bolt gets rounded out. And if you're lucky and get the nuts lined up, then you're able to get a socket and big breaker bar on it. Very clever idea

Found out on mine (99-04) that I had to use a brake cylinder hone to get my brass collar and bolt to not bind up once installed. I think this was because of a casting line that was inside the ball joint bore that we didn't smooth out before install. Also my friend Chris put grease grooves inside the brass collars to help distribute grease throughout the entire surface of the bolt. Been running it that way for almost 2 years now without failure or having the bolt back out. Great product considering I was having to replace my ball joints annually beforehand. 👍

Another tip for welding cast steel, is hitting it to relieve stress. A brass punch or hammer will work fine if you wanna keep it pretty, but steel works better. Don't get overzealous and use an air hammer, you'll make the steel harmonic and risk cracking it right then and there Also, get the steel RED hot. Most people only get it to 300-400 and call it good. Also doesn't hurt to heat it up again after you've welded it and it's cooled down some, as it will develop stress during that time as well

To get the brass to free float on my 99-04 rock jock, I had to grind the top of the brass down to the very top edge of the zero fitting threads, they work great, but I find myself using spray lube to stop the annoying squeaking because the grease through the zero doesn’t go into the brass it just comes right out the top :/

I’m building a overland suburban. I know it says specially for off road use only but my 90 suburban doesn’t have camber adjustment and I’d say this is definitely safer than running a 35 or 37 on a stock ball joint. Can someone with knowledge give me some feed back? Yes I’ve got one tons but that’s later down the road. No I’m not worried about putting money into a 10 bolt. When I’ve finished building my front axle I’ll install it. I’ve got a K5 I’m going to put my built 10 bolt. It’ll never see real off road it’s to nice.
