Ball in a Cage [Broken and glued back together]

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Carving a ball that is enclosed in a cage from a solid block of Mahogany.
Thanks for taking the time to make it this far. I am a little late posting on this one because I injured myself on another project while in the midst of this one. I made this video for someone who has been thinking about making one of these. Pay attention for tips that will help you along the way. This was WAYY fun and I am much more proud of it than I thought I would be. There are a few things I would change about my approach if I were to do it agin. This was my first wood carving project and I could easily trim off 30% of the time with what I learned. Talk to me in the comments section, I would love to hear from you. Message me on Instagram Curtis_Made_It if you want to see the gnarly cut I got while working on this one!
Smash that like button and subscribe to my channel if you would like to be notified about simple woodworking projects. Make sure and share this video with the woodworker in your life! Next up is a modification to my first ever KZread video, the Floating Bed Frame. I’m going to design a headboard to include some storage for items that make you feel safe and some small shelves to display things you love. Maybe some lights. Thanks for your time, I’ll see you soon.

@Billy Walker Thanks Billy. I appreciate people like you that pay attention and point out stuff like this. I really could have just finished the ball part and then put it back together, but I wanted the challenge. Thanks for your comment and attention to detail my friend.

@justindickinson912 Yo Justin, you noticed that too, huh? At this point in my life, I wasn't extremely familiar with hardwoods. The word 'mahogany' just sounded super cool to me and I thought it would sound nice in a video for KZread. I didn't know how hard this wood was...this was a monumental effort that seemingly took an eternity. I still haven't taken the time to finish it all the way, but I pick it up from time to time and work on it a little more. Sooner or later, I'll condition and seal it. It would take an extraordinary sum to get me to make another one of these out of the same wood. I appreciate your compliment. I'm way beyond super proud of this one...have it on display, as I'm sure you understand. Talk to you again soon my brother 🤝
