    Why "p" in the final value? What is it? and why? It doesn't appear in the workspace

    'p' refers to proportional gain of the PID controller, it is 'kp' when used in equations or code such as in the MATLAB workspace since 'k' is commonly used for the gain in control theory, and 'kp' distinguishes it from the others gains, namely integral 'ki' and derivative gain 'kd' of the PID controller.

    how did you integrate arduino with the software you are using?

    Matlab(Simulink & simscape) was used for simulation. Arduino was used for the real thing, with a matlab for plotting the response.
