Balintawak For Beginners: How To Capture A Stick And Enter

Balintawak encompasses diverse meanings, with some considering it a Filipino martial art known as Balintawak Arnis, specialized in close-quarters combat. It is linked to specific locations in the Philippines, like barangays or streets. This close-quarter FMA system excels in teaching speed, defense, and is immensely enjoyable. In this context, Belton Lubas of Warrior Strength Martial Arts demonstrates techniques for capturing a stick moving at an extremely fast pace. Additionally, he provides insights into entering on an opponent in Filipino martial arts, a concept that translates to grappling.

I'm recently getting into this style of self defense I don't know anyone in my town who practices this besides me but it's fun to practice but I have to practice by myself for now until I can find some other people who I can learn with.

Hola! ¿Qué te hace suponer que cuando alguien te lance un golpe, detendrá el ataque justo frente a ti para que lo captures? Por otra parte, ¿Por qué asumes que la pelea iniciará en esa distancia? Saludos

Reminds me a lot of HEMA messer. Of course grabbing a sword is different than grabbing a stick.

Sorry this is bullshit. Im modern arnis you have tapi tapi where you block simultaniously against the hand. Blocking the hand or the lower part of the stick are 2 sides of the same coin. What you describe is for a complete beginner Level. In advanced Level No one in modern arnis follows that prayer blocking First and Than grabbing.
