    What a great honest video. Hopefully people will appreciate you letting us into your life in Bali. I believe you are spot on with your assessment of the now in Bali. The cost of living has risen all over the world, some more than others, and regardless of what we are paying, the most important factor is your happiness and it’s with in your budget. Thanks for sharing 🍻

    Wow! Thanks for letting us see a glimpse of your humble abode!! Can you elaborate further on your circumstance, thought process and decisions on why and how you ended up long-term in bali (vs simply holidaying, i meant). A cosy little pad, thats ample in terms of space, and presumably in a bloody beaut location in Sanur!! I am envious of you, sir!!

    Well, Susan is Indonesian and we were in Bandung for many years. Bandung is not the place it used to be... things have changed and we decided to move to Bali because it suits our lifestyle better.

    Yeah not too difficult to find a place with a garden. The problem with gardens and pools is that they take up space and space is at such a premium that you pay a lot for it. If I build my own place, I’ll definitely have space for a decent garden with lots of greenery. Not so much a lawn though.

    Thank you and I think that house is great value. I'm guessing you're on the other side of the bypass not the beach side. We started looking a bit too late and seem to have missed the boat on affordable rentals!......maybe next year. Thank you again for the content.

    You are correct. Beachside is very expensive for what you get and prices there have risen dramatically over the past few years. Things Westside haven’t really had the same boom, but they’re still not cheap. There is still plenty of vacant land within 5 minutes bike ride of the beach meaning it should be possible to find decent value if you’re patient, have your eyes peeled and strike when an opportunity comes up.

    Your idea has real merit. We are not yet ready to move up to Sanur full time, but I keep hearing that costs are rising a lot due to the amount of expats from around the world who are moving to Bali either full time or are able to work remotely from there. There is only so much supply and demand seems more than supply currently

  • @SanurDiaries

    @SanurDiaries

    Yeah that does seem to be the case. I think it's still possible to get cheap places closer to Renon, but I guess it depends on what the reasons are for moving to Bali. You can also get cheap places quite far north of Sanur... there's not much in the way of restaurants and infrastructure, but you can still find your own slice of paradise. Depends on your budget I guess.

    Can you do a KZread clip on the best Nasi Goreng in Sanur? I was in Sanur in 1988 and recall exceptional Nasi Goreng’s with fried rice, a chicken Maryland, fried egg and a prawn cracker! The satay sauce was memorable. Can you do some research ❤️?

    I’m always researching new things and as I eat different foods, they all go in the back pocket to be used in future videos. As for the best nasi goreng in Sanur, I think that is going to be a tough one unless a friend recommends one in particular. I suppose I could ask viewers to submit their favourites and I could go and film them all.

    Bali accomodation is expensive to live as an expat compared to other places in South East Asia like Thailand and Vietnam

  • @SanurDiaries

    Yeah I agree with that. I also think the quality in Thailand is better than in Indonesia. That said, if you look outside of Bali there are many cheap places in Indonesia to live… you just might not want to live there 🤣

    In my opinion it depends on how much money you have. My favourite part of Sanur is in the suburban south on the east side of the bypass. It’s expensive. Aside from that, anywhere Westside of the bypass is good if you have transport. Just don’t go so far as Renon unless you’re trying to save money or want something big.

  • @SanurDiaries

    I’ve thought a lot about doing videos on the visa situation, but the problem is that it’s really specific to each individual and I’m only knowledgeable about the visa I’m on. I’m married to an Indonesian so it makes things relatively easy. I have friends who are in various different visas and I might ask them what visas they’re on and perhaps do some videos on that. I’ve got a bit of research to do first though.
