Baldurs Gate 3 Is the Biggest RPG EVER!

Ойындар

In this Baldur's Gate 3 video, I will be talking about the size of Baldur's Gate 3 and the replayability of this game. I've talked a little bit about why I think Baldur's Gate 3 is going to win the game of the year, and I think this is probably one of the more compelling reasons for that.

When you’ve got articles of other developers coming out saying that it puts an unacceptable pressure on other game developers to produce this level of quality and product, I’m reminded that there’s a reason why good games become timeless while other fade into mediocrity or soulless cash-grabs

I bought this game immediately upon early access release, played about 40 hours, and knew I was happy enough with what I had seen, and confident in Larian from my experience with DoS2, that I was willing to uninstall the game and wait until full release. Very rarely replay/restart games. I like getting everything I can out of the first playthrough and taking as long as I need to make that happen. If this game is a 100 hour playthrough then I might do a second playthrough years later, or never. Even if it is a top 30 game of all time. Like I may never play Hogwarts again, but it is a great game. It takes something like the Witcher 2 breaking the plot in two for me to load an old save and play the second plot to the end after the first plot is over. I might be restarting though since I plan to make a Wizard to have the spell collecting as a mini-game, but the stats be spread out to increase skill and conversation checks that need those ability boosting items to make it work, haha. "Are there people that will only play Baldur's Gate 3 once?" Yes, this is pretty much guaranteed to be me. I don't play games more than once, regardless of the amount of choice, different endings, etc. I've also notice that generally speaking when I get about 40 - 50 hours into a game I start to get ready to move on and if I haven't started mainlining the primary story quests at that point I generally will, if I don't just quit playing it all together. I've been like this for a long time and I don't know why but after a certain amount of time with a single game I just start to lose interest, no matter how much I've loved it up to that point. I'd like to say it will be different with BG3, and I hope it will, but I doubt it. I doubt I'm unique in this but I have no clue if this perspective is super rare or not.

Your points on respec being good for replayability is spot on. I've played dozens of RPGs, and the only ones I've been able to stick with all the way through on my first playthrough are those that allow for experimentation. For instance in Divinity, being able to respec at the start of Act II was huge as it allowed me to tweak my party composition more to my liking. If it had been another game without that option, I very likely would have come back to the game and just restarted since I was "only" 10 hours in and had "only" finished Act I - which probably would have lead to a loop of me never finishing the game. Instead, I actually finished the game, it's one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm working on a second playthrough with my wife!

The story of them were amazing and they are the game(s) that got me into RPGs in the first place. Whenever I look at a singleplayer game that invovles choices, they've permanently set the bar for what I expect. That's just how good they were for their time. Now with BG3 releasing, the bar has been raised exponentially higher than I think any AAA developer is capable of doing. Leave it to Larian to continue this awesome streaks of RPG style games.

I have an very good memory especially when it comes to stories so I often find myself unable to play games, read books or watch film/TV multiple times bc I just remember the whole story. That said, my concern is that Larian probably isn't going to let you respec level 1, which is actually very inhibiting. For example, I want Lae'zel as primary companion, but I may not want her to be a two hander. I may want her to dual wield or go sword and board, but her first very valuable feat is already dedicated to two handing. Hopefully modders will fix this though. Some people do only play games once, though. It's why 'multiple endings' for them isn't always a great selling point. If they go through the game one way, and learn that there was one or twelve other ways they could have played each story beat or 5 different endings, they feel like they've missed out instead of gearing up for another playthrough. It's especially a problem when there is one ending in a game that is clearly 'the best' that you only could see because of a key decision made halfway through the game, or decided to be evil just one time, or didn't choose to save a character you honestly disliked, etc.

This is a dream come true for me, I have been waiting for BG3 since I finished the second game as a teenager, and larian making it, was the perfect choice. They surely fill the gap that bioware left behind, and it looks like they are setting new standards. DUDE I CANT WAIT!

I've never touched a DnD game before. I will be checking this out because I have been a Larian Studios fan for the longest time. I am very excited to see how they handle this and how I will discover this RPG genre for myself and what DnD will do for me and to me. I pray this game not only holds all expectations but exceeds them by a large margin because the Divinity series, especially the last two installments Larian released, was absolutely fantastic for me.

Nice to meet another dragon age origins connoisseur who likes the game just as much as i do. I'm definitely in the minority but I think it's the best game bioware has released closely tied with anthem, since we can't forget about that gem. The origins system was amazing, being able to choose between 7 origins and them actually being referenced in the story is fantastic. Going back to orzammar as a dwarf noble, meeting Bhelen again and deciding if I should kill him or side with him because he makes good points. Something I also liked was how there were no right or wrong answers for the most part. Do you side with the traditionalist who is loyal and generally kind or the progressive who stabbed you in the back and does anything to gain power but would advance the dwarfs and possibly fight the darkspawn back. Do you side with the keeper who turned the humans into werewolves after what they did to his daughter or help the humans remove the curse since not everyone was responsible. That's what make good rpgs so beloved and what a lot of modern rpgs lack, I don't mind if there are good and evil choices but sometimes I want morally Gray choices in my rpgs.

You're insight into respeccing and being a positive instead of a negative is so well thought out. When I heard about respeccing I was worried it would kind of feel like cheating and ruin the immersion. But There are games that I have played that I stopped playing cause I didn't like my character after a period of game play and going back wasn't worth it to start over. Also, you're not going to want to use it to cheat and leap frog because DnD is about character identity. You're going to latch onto what you find cool about your character and want to see it all the way through.

It's great to see BG3 rocking the boat so assuredly even before its full release. Much like the Witcher 3 when that came out. I do hope though that other developers aren't put off by the prospect of being compared to BG3 when going down the RPG route. They most certainly should look at Larion's homework however still be inspired by their own innovative ideas. I fear we will see tunnel vision by other devs on what works in BG3 and ONLY do that. Regardless though, we should see a bump up in quality going forward because of BG3. This game is a mile stone in development and I look forward to seeing what the industry pumps out after this game has had it's time in the spotlight! Itt's all very exciting.

Funny how they can make 17000 different unique endings and yet have a crappy preset system for character creation from 2010 and not have your junk show up in any romance scenes. And these are the guys who made the legendary divinity original sin 2? Yeah i dont buy it. Theyre hyping this way too much, and the fact that it has LGBTQ+ and Vitiligo inclusion are already two massive red flags, considering its a western developer its almost guaranteed that the female presets are going to look like arse. I dont play games to look like someone with an autoimmune subcutaneous disease and got run over by a truck square in the face. edit: oops, i meant preset system not slider system, the game lost the slider system that divinity original sin 2 was known for.

I plan to play it a lot, but I think there will be diminishing returns after a few times going through the game, it will also get progressively easier as you wont get surprised as much. A lot is going to depend on how much you change interactions changes the journey, if you are more or less doing the same thing with different npcs it wont be as interesting from an RPG perspective, but I think it will still be fun from a combat perspective. I might save the harder difficulty for later play throughs.

I loved the early access. I have more than 100 hours in it. I am hyped for the final game. However I firmly believe that it won’t get as many awards as many it deserves. Probably Starfield will get everything because of Skyrim fanboys and from the pushback from the industry as well. There are already developers crying that we should not treat BG3 as a new standard because that would show how bad are modern RPGs nowadays. The overall industry will do everything to discredit BG3 and Larian so they can safely churn out bad games every year
