Is there any way to justify (IC) knocking out Alfira so that you get Quil? I want her for my Dragonborn Durge specifically because of the more interesting interactions in it, but I don't want to have to heavy cheese to do it.

Admittedly, since this is a Dark Urge exclusive thing, this _would_ canonically be their first experience with it, or Dragonborn culture. They've been in Baldur's Gate all their lives, most of it as a psychotic mass murderer, and even outside that, they've lost their memory completely. It's a strange, foreign thing to them. And that's if you're playing as a Dragonborn/Default Dark Urge!

I love the fact that apparently the throat singing was done because the developers found out some of them could throat sing

To be fair, dragonborns are rare in the sword coast, if I'm not mistaken, I think only 1 major city in Faerun has the majority of them, can't say for the other continents. There's even less of them after the second sundering. But at the same time, yeah, even 1 npc in act 1, or two in act2 would had been amazing to stumble to as a dragonborn pc.

Even the dark urge dragonborn gives her the WHAT IN THE BLOODY DEVILS IS THAT look when she throat sang 😂

"There are 69 (nice) more verses."

fun fact about Quil: she is a literal replacement of Alfira to die here. if you check her stats, you'll notice that she has dark vision and fire resistence, which a silver dragonborn would not to have by any means.

Quil: "I can't wait for what is coming next!" Evil DUrge: "Me neither..." Real talk though, this conversation is so heartbreaking. :( I hope there's at least a way (or perhaps modders will add it in the future) to bring her manuscript to Baldur's Gate and at least have her songs published. That way at least she'll have a legacy to be remembered by.

With Dragonborn being added so late, this is unfortunately like the most Dragonborn lore in the game and the only Way to even experience it is by playing durge and then knocking out Alfira, it's a lot of hoops to jump just to even get to know some DB lore

God the tradgedy of the Dark Urge story line, no matter what you do, a songbird full of light dies.

I mean, technically speaking, if you do kill Alfira, then Quill should still be alive out and about on her way to Baldur’s gate, or at least I’d like to think so…

She died never experiencing a kiss. Wish the Urge could have rectified that.

Her voice acting is underrated as HELL!!!

It kinda sucks that if you play DU, this is the only moment in which player can not control the actions of the character and "1 bard has to die" - Alfira or Quil. And actually sacrificing Quil is technically better option (Yekes !) as that NPC appears only for that one moment in your camp while Alfira is in act 2 & 3 (if Alfira is unconscious with 1hp or turned into stone with a spell). Seeing how default DU Origin is a Dragonborn too, Larian clearly wanted players to hate their own character in that very moment. I mean even if you kill DU right before long rest, Alfira or Quil still dies...

I agree, I think Quil is a very loveable character, and after meeting her for the first time I was reconsidering myself if I should go back and just kill Alfira to just let her do her things, even if I would never see her, but make myself happy ;-; I wish they would of given us a dragonborn to romance, she would of been perfect! A bard for the party that is also a Dragonborn!

@@gferrol118 basically yes, devs want you to feel powerless towards the urges your character have, but *that* is really the only time you cannot control yourself (besides if you have to roll, and fail, like in my other video), otherwise you are free to control them or just follow them

You can actually not kill one of the bards in the beginning, but one of them still die, I don't remember the steps, i think DU needs to be dead the night of the interaction but someone posted a video and apparently the butler kills the bard and even has dialogue for the dark urge when he does it, protects you from being the murderer but they still die.

I actually like the dragonborn bard more than Alfira😅💀

Dragonborn look REALLY cool in game. Makes me wish they were more common on the Sword Coast

I wish she could be at least dressed for the unfortunate fate that awaits her. Why goblins would steal her pants is beyond me.

What irks me is that there isn't even a possible outcome in which she can survive. Even if it were a 99 skill check, I could live with that. But no, even telling Alfira / Quil to go away doesn't save them.

Including outright killing my Durge with Shadowheart right on the first little beach and played the game up until that point, and nothing changed.

I think someone in the comments mentions that a fist in act 3 mentions her, but I'm not sure if you have to be a Durge for that to trigger 🤔

Quil has a good friend in Baldurs Gate who is in love with her. Which makes the meeting and killing of her, very sad. (* you can find a letter of a flaming fist in the cells of Saveroks Temple. A man who wrote a letter to Quil....saying how much he likes her)

Writing a fanfic including the Dark Urge and i consider Quil to be his canon victim. Especially since Durge is a companion to my Tav, who is also a romantic innocent. It makes perfect sense that he would welcome her. I might even give her a little more time, have her arrive in time for everyone to get to know her, enjoy her company...only to wake up the next morning with her dead... Durge is not the same after that. (Also in my head he brings her manuscript to Baldur's Gate and has it published posthumously)

@@jjgamer1178 thank you for the compliments!! She is my favorite Tav and I've played as her many times now. That outfit naturally is found in act 3 in crates or shops, but I used a mod called "Purchasable camp clothes" to get them in act 1! That is my favorite outfit by far :3

Or at least as a Hireling. There isn't a single dragonborn hireling in-game (Fafnir was supposed to be the dragonborn/sorcerer hireling but he got replaced by the High Half-Elf Jacelyn before release).

It's a shame that she can't be a romance option, it's weird being a Dragonborn and trying to romance normal people. Not to mention we don't have any bard companions.

I have a mod that allows me to buy all the camp clothes in the grove! That one is called Eminent Obsidian Outfit, naturally you find it in Act 3 in fancy wardrobes or if lucky, in random boxes!

Honestly this is one of my only complaints about Baldurs gate 3. The main party is great, but it honestly feels limited when you see how many character there are that are genuinely interesting. Quil is one of them, but theres also Zevlor, Alfira, and Isobel. Its insane that the games so good, that the only complaint I really have (Other than that god awful saving system) is that the side characters are literally TOO engaging and interesting.

your Durge face when Quil started throat singing, he like the dafaq? as if he forgot his birthrights (which makes sense cause they don't remember their past), also is it true that the dark urge is canonically a dragonborn?

The default Dark urge character is a white dragonborn, and if you are not a Dark Urge character, you can find the model of the default Durge as a body from Orin in act 3! So I would say that they are canonically a dragonborn 🤔

How can I meet her? I tried avoid the emerald groove, but cannot find her anyway

You have to get in the grove, and knock out/kill alfira before your Dark Urge event happens (I knew it was coming so I saved before every long rest to do this), Quil will appear instead of Alfira. I am not sure how many long rests it is tho, or if it works if you do not go at all to the grove.

She’s sweet but the real evil option would have been to let that singing persist in the world

A shame to kill her but... the Potent Robe is a really good item and you can't meet her any other way so...

Reading her name when you can speak Afrikaans makes it a lot funnier

@@xKiTKaT18x you’d break it into two words, groot and slang (the g on groot it’s the same as German g and slang is more like an ah sound so slahng if that makes sense) so her name will mean big snake 💀 groot is big and slang is snake

Such a nice character, too bad it’s a Dark Urge run through. On a side note, I get gold but what the shizz is a goblin gonna do with hose?

Why does the Dragonborn look so shocked after hearing the other Dragonborn sing lol thought they be a custom to this sort of thing

BG3 Dark Urge loses their memories, they hardly remember who they are, and I doubt they were raised in the ways of normal Dragonborns 🤔 no spoiling just in case but you'll find out between act 2 and 3 why ;D

Knock out (use blunt and non lethal damage) Alfira or kill her the night before your Durge gets to kill her during the cinematic, and you should get her to show up instead ^_^

The interaction? You have to be the Dark Urge, and (because I knew this could happen) knock down/kill Alfira before the Long Rest of this interaction!

Fun fact, if you meet Quil you can later ask the Dragonborn bard in the Guildhall in Baldur's gate if she knows any of Quil's songs!

@@xKiTKaT18x it's Lyrux Goldthroat. The dialogue only shows up the first time you talk to her, then she always says she's busy... (Btw the wiki says that you can only ask her about Quil as a Dragonborn, but it's not true because I'm playing as a Tiefling. You just need to have met Quil, I think)
