@@GreatScottch I think in the lower city, there is someone that you can talk to who makes a comment on her infernal engine being a prototype of the Iron Watch constructs, it almost feels like there was supposed to be a plotline where we do get it fixed.

This was all actually datamined in the game files. Withers throwing a party/epilogue. They were going to do it anyway. Probably ran out of time since they launched early.

New epilogue: karlach “might” be able to fix her heart Me: Give me the quest…..NOW! lol

I would love extra DLC where you and karlach (and Wyll too if you do his quests) romp around Avernus searching for the blueprints to fix her engine. Would also like a DLC with Lae’Zel and I taking the fight to Vlakith with Orpheus (and the option to go with her to the astral sea even if you aren’t a Gith)

I want that dlc as well, but I especially want to get the whole original gang back together to go to Avernus to fix her heart, and then come back to the material plane and never return to or even think about hell, or devils again

Well, Swen did say that to increase the level cap u would need more powerfull enemies to chalenge, I think an archdevil in avernus would fit the bill. So there is a chance.

man, all i want is a DLC that lets me live out the next 30-40 years with Karlach. not in game years, but irl ones. i don't think it's that much to ask.

This is 100000% better. At launch she deserved better and was the worst ending. A month ago she got a better ending but because it left on a vague cliffnote we never knew if it was good or bad. We could of died right there with the swarm of imps. This wrapped it up in a nice neat bow. Sure we're not living in a boring white picket fence ending. But we've been kicking demon ass for 6 months. Got solid plans for a cure. Yeah that's a good ending.

@DevilWolf000 most cases, I agree. Hell, I actually liked the ending of mass effect (after they patched it) because mass effect is more realistic. So, a "realistic" end to a "realistic" space war felt fitting However, BG3 is all about the ending you want. There's super bad endings to the corny white picket fence ending and every spectrum in between. The whole point of D&D is to get the ending you want. If this game had nothing but sad endings. Like Gale had to die no matter what, or Wyll was going to end up in servitude or worse in the buring hells, then I'd also agree with you there. A grimdark ending for everyone involved. But every companion had multiple different endings ranging from horrible to good, with the exception of Karlach. Until last month, she dies no matter what unless you change her into the mind flayer. The problem wasn't that she had a bad ending. The problem was that it was her ONLY ending. This helps bridge the gap. Now she has good endings *this video shows it* and bad endings. Sure, it ain't as varried as say Gale or Lae'zel. But hey, now people can choose which ending they think she deserves. You can't make a game where there are multiple endings for multiple characters that range from bad to good but leave ONE companion have a bad ending no matter what. It sticks out like a sore thumb

@@DevilWolf000 While true this game had two instances of characters with an incurable "bomb" in their chest. Gale's bomb was created by his own hubris and need to prove himself powerful. And he got a deus ex machina where a god fixes his problem. It was self inflicted but he still gets a happy ending. Karlach was betrayed by someone she trusted and sold into both slavery and as an experiment had her heart literally ripped out and replaced with metal. She's a victim none of that was self inflicted other than working as a body guard for gortash. Those two stories don't really mesh for me if you want a "no way to fix it" story Gale not Karlach should have been the one to get it.

This is THE best ending in my mind. Such a cool setup for more. You’re powerful as hell, now fight it.

The idea that Tav, Karlach and Wyll are on the trail of a forge in order to fix Karlach's heart is so perfect. Really makes me feel that years after I've finished the game, those three will still be palling it up, having adventures and killing devils 😊

“Me and Karlach storming hell, then returning for the boys to celebrate and then to help us” was my head canon from the start. Glad it’s not just head canon, but an actual canon now

Even if this doesn’t end with a DLC I love this ending. Choosing to fight possibly eternally against the forces of “hell” alongside the woman ya love instead of having to say goodbye… so romantic.

Am I the only miserable shit that kind of loves a bitter sweet ending? 😂 I'm more than happy with the prologue but was fine with the tragedy of karlach having to return to avernus to that awesome swell of music. I thought it was quite an epic ending for her, running into battle with her friend at her side. But looking at the entire Internet I feel like I'm wrong 😅

You're totally fine for having an opinion But in my opinion she deserves better. She is a wonderful person who has had a shit luck for 10 years. Her problem isn't as complicated as problems of other companions, so there must be a way to achieve a happy ending for her. Never thought I'd say this, but... Even if we don't get DLCs, I'd be fine with that. The game has given so much context for possible future, so I'll be fine with my headcanon where Karlach, Tav and Wyll attack the forge, get Karlach a new heart and then leave Avernus for Baldur's Gate. Karlach and Tav open up a tavern and live a peaceful life with two kids... Well, sometimes this peace is broken by baddies initiating bar fights, but this power couple enjoys some chaos in their lives too ;)

Honestly, by the time you finish this game, you're beyond rich. Unless there's some special pact that binds Karlach to Hell when she dies (not seemingly, as death was preferable to going back alone), then all she'd need is a true resurrection. Kill her, temporarily, atomize her body, find any high level cleric of which there has to be at least one in Baldur's Gate, or call in a favor Mystra possibly owes you, and True Resurrection creates a new body, sans infernal engine.

i dont mind bittersweet endings as well, but in karlach's case it's something painful to see because she's someone always striving to do better, to be good, someone done wrong, someone who always talks about loving life and wanting to enjoy all of it in peace, so it really breaks your heart when she cant have it and she mostly doesn't accept it

Karlach deserves a happy ending.

A mission to find these blueprints and fix her for good would make for great dlc

How did you get this ending? I tried this with my old save and right after the music starts, the credits roll anyway, then it brings me back to the menu just like before...

Reloaded my save for a Wyll romance. We went with Karlach to Avernus. No Party :( And Wyll bugged and wasn't even there. I'm gussing this is the closest I'll get lol

You’ll need to redo the final fight to get to the party! Load a save before you climb the brainstem at high hall and go through the end, it should work that way

So this ending basically lets her return after a few hours once the engine stops overheating?

This ending was so weird because her ending in hell took precedence over my own character’s relationship or ending.

An idea to possibly freeing Karlach form Zar ounce and for all. We make a bargain with Raphael in which we promise to deliver Gortash to him so he can damn him in hell for stealing the Crown. In exchange Karlach gets a normal heart again.
