Baldur's Gate 3 is Made for D&D Beginners - Why You Need to Play Baldur's Gate 3 ASAP: BG3 Gameplay
Ойындар
If you aren’t familiar with the eponymous location or the series as a whole, #BaldursGate3 doesn’t sound like that exciting a game. Lacking context, as a title it’s pretty meh. Given that the game has been in early access for literal years now, you’ve probably heard bits and pieces about it and maybe you’ve let those pass you by. Not any more. This is your wake-up call: if you’re a fan of high fantasy, D&D, role-playing, incredible storytelling, turn-based combat, huge consequences for your choices and a lot of potential sexy times - never mind the title, this game is for you. Here’s why you’re going to want to play Baldur’s Gate III, even if, right now, you have no idea what or where Baldur’s Gate is #bg3 #dnd #eurogamer #dungeonsanddragons

You need to find time to get a group going for D&D. I was the same way, always wanted to play but never had the time. The five of us in my group all have kids, less one person. We find time to play once or twice a month. The stuff that happens while playing are memories that'll last me the rest of my life. One example: Our DM uses these critical fail cards, so you roll a 1 you pull a card. We were fighting a Red Mage boss in a dungeon and our warrior rolled a crit fail. The card told them that their minds swapped bodies, so the boss now was put into his warrior and vice versa. We were level 2 at the time and gained a character with 60 HP when we all had around 20. So for the first few months of the campaign, this dude is just an absolute tank rolling around in the bosses body. With that change, he brought many other difficulties while playing. Like concealing the fact that he was a red mage but a "good guy". It was glorious and stuff like that makes DND amazing. Find time, bro.
Good to know they made it with new players in mind. The game looks incredible and fun but is also intimidating if one needs to learn more about the background story and characters. Thank you.

BG3 has been rumbling away in the background on steam for 3, maybe 4 years, at this point and I couldn't be more excited to finally be able to get out of chapter 1! Also, this game has by far the most incredible, most vivid, vicious and volatile depiction of the Underdark to date. Cannot tell you how many times I've been steamrolled by a meandering bullete out for his noonsie stroll or a pesky hook horror taking too much interest in my life or death battle with some minotaurs. But it's not just evil down there, it's bloody beautiful too. As a renegade drow main, there is nothing more important than the Underdark to me, it is home.

count me surprised to hear aoife's voice at the start of this video, and not zoe's - but then zoe's probably been playing it in preparation. i've recently been playing about in early access as race and class combos i hadn't bothered with before and having a blast - oathbreaker paladins are a LOT more fun than i was expecting I would add: to anyone interested in this game, give the original games a go! they're obviously very different (and more than a little dated) but i played BG1 and 2 for the first time this year and really liked them, and it'll give you an opportunity to learn about DnD's Forgotten Realms setting
me and my friend just bought bg3 the other day, our friend group has been interested in possibly starting to play dnd and this seemed like the perfect precursor to learn the core mechanics before jumping into it. so far we're loving it! super excited for the full release coming soon, i wish i got the game sooner but im also kinda glad i waited so i can see what the full release experience is like.

Thank you for this, Aoife. Loved your introduction to this amazing game. I've been playing TTRPG D&D since the early 80s. My first CRPG was one of the SSI Gold Box games, "Pool of Radiance" and I played so many other games in that series. A decade later it was on to the Infinity Engine games like Baldur's Gate, BG2, Icewind Dale and others, where an old friend since high school and I did a ton of co-op. I poked around for about 50 hours in Early Access for BG3 after it was first released. i played the original two BG games including the expansions back in the day. also played Icewind Dale. played neverwinter nights. played both DOS games, played wrath of the righteous. and also Solasta. i'm completely used to playing turn based RPGs. however i'm wondering whether this will have much appeal to mainstream audiences. i think massive turn based games like this especially based on D&D rules might be a turn off for most tbh even if it is more newb friendly than older BG games. does it have a chance to win GOTY? maybe. feel like TOTK has it locked for now. unless BG3 or Starfield gets insane review scores. since i am a PC gamer this might be the only game i might be playing for the rest of this year. this looks fantastic. easily the most bang for your buck by far.
Concerned I’d be out of my depth with BG3, but thanks to your videos aimed at beginners, now I’m excited to play. The best advice I’ve gotten here is to just create a character I’ll have fun embodying, and go have fun and create a great adventure - to take my time and take it all in. You could almost say it teaches you skills you can use in real life.

This was exactly the beginner video I was looking for so thanks!
I'm just going off of the character creator that's available in early access, but I wouldn't say the character creation tool is massive, but that's also a good thing. I think it's got a really good level of customization, maybe just a tad more would have been nice, but I'm glad it's not as advanced as some other ones. Too many options can be frustrating IMO
So I played early access all w/e!! - It's good, and I'm not a DnD player at all. Top tip, save often; I did find that I had to go back sometimes when monsters got too strong and try something else. Also really nice video :)
I've still got the originals on CD. I've also spanked the remasters, Divinity Original Sin 2 and have had BG3 on my wishlist since it was announced. Go for the eyes Boo.

It's not a singleplayer narrative-led experience, but it provides something of the same kind of joy. There was, however, a sequel to Dark Alliance called Dark Alliance II. Whether you can get that to run on current hardware, I have no idea.

I might have to get this, if it takes this long to get the next episode out, i'll be in my 70's and probably wont be able to, so hell yeah, lets go D&D.

I've not found a definitive answer yet, but since everyone seems to be save scumming, I reckon you just reload the last save. There doesn't appear to be any way to get out of a fight once it begins.
the phone vibrate at 5:11 confused me so much 😂
How did Larian hold it all together? It's incredible.
As a long-time BG player (off and on for 23 years), and as someone who has played wayyy to much BG3 early access (so much, i actually regret it) here is my single biggest piece of advice for anyone picking up this masterpiece: Do not "save scum" your way through BG3. that is, don't save the game prior to every interaction, and then reload when you don't get the result you were after. Live with your mistakes (and your bad luck in NPC interactions), and let them be part of what carries you forward. If you don't, nothing will ruin your experience more, and replayability will drop big time. The best habit to get into is saving directly _after_ an interaction, or series of interactions, with NPC's, and once before every battle you get into. You really only need to adhere to this principle for BG3 to be a great experience - everything else will take care of itself. I promise you that save scumming will do nothing to improve that experience.
Nicely made video.
I don't know if or when I'll ever get to play D&D for real but this will have to do. That & it's a good test for race & class combos on Beyond.

My comic book collection was in the 3000s before I was in high-school, but the main drawback of true D&D is it needs multiple ppl to truly experience and everyone ive tried to convince has said no in every way possible (even tried the "I will supply the marijuana. It helps with the imagination.")

There are a huge number of TTRPG systems out there, so perhaps another one would appeal more to them. Call Of Cthulhu & Blades In The Dark are my faves; the former putting players in normal people who are facing horrible situations they're in no way prepared for (and probably won't survive), & the latter having players take on the role of criminals in a Dishonored-like post apocalyptic world (where they can even end up in prison). CoC has a lot of skills (real life stuff) to use & can look a little daunting, but it uses a very simple percentile die system where you roll at or below your skill score to succeed. BitD uses one or more of your normal d6 dice & determines how well an action goes depending on your highest roll, with you getting more dice with more proficiency. They're much simpler to learn & there's less weight of lore to scare off newcomers, plus combat isn't as drawn out & tedious as D&D's can be.
When 5e hit the shelves, I took a good look and could see something like this coming. 5e solidified D&D rules to make a true mechanical representation possible. Previously, the rules were too fuzzy and up for interpretation. When 5e came out, it was clear Wizards wanted to really cement the rules, and BG3 is the greatest representation of what they were shooting for.
While I've never played over the top rpgs this visuals look great probably keep my eye on this one
Wow. A completely different species from the first BG i played in the day. My mind boggles.
Can’t remember the last time I’ve been this excited for a game that I’m completely unfamiliar with.
Ive always said that Shadows of Amn is my favorite game of all time. Now here we are 23 years later and in still alive to see this happen. And I've barely made it. Wait... Eight hours to go? Hope I didn't jinx myself.
As someone whose never played, though aleays was intrigued in D&D, I definitely fucked up my build lol My half elf sorcerer at level 5 still gets 1 shot by everyone. Can't seem to end act 1, 25hr later, stuck in the underdark and cant fight anyone I never found gale (guess i lost my chance early game since his hand never stuck out of the portal). I killed Karlach only to find out a week later she could be a companion. I killed the grove so icant trade with anyone. I have so much items to sell, but there's nobody left in act 1 to sell to 😂 Hell, nobody left in act 1 at all, i guess i destroyed the whole map. Cant find a way to continue to level up since it seems theres no life left on the map💀. 10/10. No idea what I'm doing but I'm doing it
Right noy, I'm enjoying your accent :D
I wouldn't say Asap since your current save game won't be working with the release of the game on August 3rd better wait than investing time.
My only concern is that it might be a bit 'too' much. But I've dabbled in the EA and will give it a go.
I like how you pronounce "now" very fantasy like
im getting early access for the free deluxe upgrade
Will Minsc & Boo be back?

Other than the next elder scrolls game this is probably my most anticipated game.
I can’t wait to use this as an intro to DND.
This looks like the perfect game to play on my coach 😍😍
I really hate to ask but, purely out interest, did someone ask you specifically slow down when talking? Or is it slowed down when the video is edited? A little while back the same thing happened to Zoe’s videos and it’s so odd to hear both of you move away from your usually chirpy cadence you get away with in the game streams to this oddly staccato delivery that feels disappointingly drab by comparison. I can only think it’s to push out the length of the video or perhaps Americans find regional accents too difficult to follow? Either way, good video but I’ll remember to hammer that 1.25x speed option in future! 😅
Doesnt feel like a d&d game. Its so smooth flowing!! Controller support too! 😱😱😱 i thought i had to click all the way through but NOPE! Never played games like this and I f with it.🎉🎉🎉
Sure looks like there's room for one more race on that UI.

Larian has stated that certain fan-favorite Player Races like the Tabaxi will become playable in future DLC updates though whether or not BG3 does well enough to warrant DLC updates adding new playable races is up in the air.

@@derrickhaggard I wouldn't worry about that; been playing games long enough to know a masterpiece that gets both the critics and sales, they have a certain aura.
