Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video we cut back a large Bald Cypress sometimes known as Swamp Cypress.
This tree is a stunning example of the species and is in need of a crown reduction and thin ready for wiring once the needles have dropped

One of my favorite trees (maybe ever). Can't stop looking at that beautiful movement in the trunk. Never seen a bald cypress growing that way, but it is gorgeous. Can't wait to see how the tree responds.
The tree has some great structure. I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes next year.
Beautiful tree. Thanks for sharing. That root base is amazing 😀😀🍻
Great education you give us on this bald cypress ! I’m excited to get my first BC sapling this spring and start my journey with it !
Nice tree, Mexico national tree, here there are some taxodiums as old as 2000 years, yours is beautiful. The name of the tree in nahuatl language is Ahuehuete, meaning the old of the water. It is named Sabino too, is more common the first one. Greetings from Mexico.
I agree with your concept of rounded top rather than flat top . some bonsai folks from the US tend to over manipulate the bald cypress to an extreme and the trwea can look very ugly in my opinion. Yours looks just great, thanks for your learned instructions !
Baldy in the UK? Wowwww, I’m in Florida here and Louisiana these bald cypresses are huge and they love the humidity. I have my baldy bonsai in a big humidity tray to keep him moist all the time, they love water. Try to keep yours in a shaded area but very hot and humid and give him very good amount of water daily. Of course if it’s not hot don’t water him. The reason why I have mine in water it’s cos it’s Florida. It’s 90 plus degrees daily. They do like to be on the wet side, lots of them grow in the lakes and swamps. That’s why they’re called swamp cypress.Nice trees you have. Good luck with that baldy.
What a surprise to see that you have a Bald Cypress, living in south Florida it is one of my favorites. I have 7 3-4 year old seedlings that I will make into a forest planting next year. I was very glad to see that you did not turn yours into a flat top as I think they are such a beautiful tree if left to grow naturally.

That’s what I do, natural on all of mine, also they live in water full time except in the winter

@@edwardhudson7790 I water mine twice a day plus they are sitting in an area of my yard where the excess water from my orchid irrigation shed runs off too.

Thanks a lot. Always looking forward to see what you are up to!
That is one nice tree. Thanks Corin
You do have some really beautiful trees. 😊
being able to have the type of tree you like, in the style you like, is such a fun part of bonsai.
Bald cypress is an amazing species. They thrive in water. I have 10 of them as pre-bonsai. I'm submerging mine in water during the summer so the bases will be large like the ones growing in southern United States swamps. That's a beautiful tree. Thanks for the video!
Majestic. Great nebari and trunk movement and taper. Looking ahead is part of the bonsai journey of a tree, and I am looking forward to the next part. Thanks.
That is a beautiful tree. Great trunk.
i'm looking at all the stuff in the background - so much greatness :D
Cool vid. The trunk on that tree is a real showpiece I’ve a large old Dawn Red that’s got a few dead established branches this year. I should probably chop them like you did with that tree
A great video and such a wonderful tree. 👍
I think the a hungry rabbit in a freshly sprouting meadow is the only time I’ve seen faster trimming! 🤣 Great tree! And love that you are keeping to your Dad’s/Original design!!
the styling is quite different than the natural form these trees have in nature, In many ways I like this better than the flat top style which is more natural. I have a slight preferance for Taxodium mucronatum. For those considering propagating consider choosing the Mexican Bald Cypress over Taxodium distichum. Mucronatum tends to naturally form faster taper as the trunks are naturally much wider compared to bald and pond cypress. Thank you for a nice video. Mats H
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your videos, thank you for sharing your trees with us! This is a stunning tree, so different from the norm, love it! I’m looking forward to the next “gem of a tree” you’ll be sharing with us! Would be awesomeness if you could do a bench tour for those of us too far away to visit. So many lovely trees in the background. Ps, love your chow chow!
Fabulous tree, love it. Looking forward to part two 👍
What a beautiful tree! Certainly stunning! Very good job. Thank you for shearing!

YES PLEASE :D
Great job on a fabulous Taxodium. That continuous sinuous taper is something else... and the foot flare is to die for! A unique and insanely handsome Taxodium which will haunt me forever. I want! Lol
Taper is fantastic
Nice trunk & surface roots. Though your pruning was bold, your explanation & thought process was re-assuring. Still, if that was my tree, i would be crying now after seeing how much you took off :-) Of course, its for the best. Thank you for this video.
My favourite tree in your garden Corin. Amazing example of a Bald Cypress. And that is exactly how they grow in the UK.
What a remarkable tree!
Brilliantly done!
As someone who lives in the southeastern U.S., and have a swamp full of these trees across the street..the shape u made, is exactly how they grow here(minus the movement in the trunk) they grow straight up…great video
You are right. I haven't seen any Baled Cypress like yours., But I love it. All of them here are flat top. Very interesting to see something different. Love your video's.
you have one of the best looking BCs on the planet. keep soil moist in spring and summer and itll go nuts !! and lean that thing forward on the next repot. beautiful mate.
Just a lovely tree, great video yet again 👍
What a fantastic looking tree looks amazing such a great demo/explanation too, you never fail to amaze me with your knowledge 😜
Beautiful tree and nice to see it brought back into shape. A tour of your outdoor plant area would be nice sometime.
I love that you describe what you are doing and why as you work on a tree. I wish I could come visit your studio. Cheers from Niagara Falls USA!

Great video, i love my swampies. Im very happy with the way you addressed the season rather than purely the month, its helpful for those of us in the southern hemisphere. Cheers

Loved watching this. Im a newbie to the art of bonsai so I am always a bit shocked when people are trimming so much away... But its a beauty for sure... and Ill be sure to watch the wiring of it. Thank you!
I love Bald Cypress, started one from seed two years ago, I’m going for a formal upright
Corin really enjoy and appreciate your explanation as you work. Going hunting for Bald Cypress in about a week in Louisiana. Hope to come home with some great material to work.
The little woman and I have been looking for property in Missouri, USA. We are looking for forest and pasture and I'm getting impatient. I can't wait to venture out for a Bald Cypress collection!
Very elegant tree I’m living in Florida it’s nice to see another type of style. Thanks for sharing your knowledge great working approach 👍👍🇵🇷

Beautyful Taxodium. Would love to have a tree of this species!
thank you so much for a different post. I asked you definitely provided. do you leave it in tub of water for summer and your pruning looks savage but what a result you are a master. ded set leddgen. you are an inspiration. love the vids
Wow!, Fabulous tree Corin!! I have one that my old pal Don Smith (Stymie, Rip) gave me some years ago, Nowhere near the size of this one, Also, It is as you mentioned, Very straight!!👍
What a stunning tree. The nebari and tapered movement in the trunk is exquisite. Would give my left arm to own it, would you take that as payment?
Gracias. Qué enormidad de árbol.....
I have a large old Metasequoia that loves water too. I’ve put it in a large bowl with water. And it grows like a weed. It even grows roots into the water. This way there’s no risk of it drying out. It immediatly sheds branches when that happens. Your bald cypres is really special. I love the base and the trunk. Fantastic tree! And the pot it’s in is reaaly good too. I’m curious how the tree progresses. Thank for posting this!
wow so nice
Thanks, Corin.
That bald cypress is nice. We see those shapes in the wild . All kinds of shapes really . They get huge, truly massive growing on the banks of some of our central Texas rivers. They have big cypress knees also, really amazing. will they get the knees in a pot ?
that's the best bald cypress i've ever seen :D

Your wish may come true very soon !
I have a very large Bald cypress and have a Forest, I love bald cypress but a swamp cypress is different from a bald cypress, I need one of those pots but living in Virginia it might be a little expensive to get it here🤙🏼😎
very nice tree thank you for this video .please can you tell me is it posible to air lairing cedar atlantic thanks so much.
Awsome video, I get alot of useful tips from watching your channel. I'm struggling with my Swampie the leaves are turning brown on the tips and the tree overall does not look happy, I've now moved it from being in full sun into semi-shade and also do not keep it submerged in water constantly anymore to see if this makes a difference. Any thoughts? I'm based in South Africa. Keep up the great videos.
Hoping to see a follow up on this Tree.
❤❤❤❤❤
They are really easy to get to back bud and you can't give them too much water
Would hanging it upside down cause the branches to grow towards the roots instead of wiring it down?
I m from INDIA. I want to know, what is your dormancy period ? And from which month to which month. This pruning video prepared in which month. Please
Great tree with super lines. You've done a good job shaping the tree and you are wise to trim first and wire (now, this time of year) after. Ya might try 'ripping off' branches off the trunk when needed and adding cut paste. The ripping technique and cut paste makes for a more 'natural' healing scar.
