Balancing your Voice in Indian Classical

Музыка

Students learning Indian Classical sometimes find it difficult to attain proper balance of voice. Although they learn to take faster progression of notes, called the taans they are unable to find fluency with their tonal quality spanning throughout three scales, lower, middle and higher.
This video addresses the same and draws one's attention to the proper use of one's voice. It is about the extent of throwing one's voice while singing Indian Classical Music in particular.
It deals with the problem not only at physiological but psychological level. In fact, thoughts while singing can be distractive in nature and the video talks about caring one's action solely focussing on one's voice rather than dissipating one's thoughts.
Nishant Akshar gives 1 on 1 live music lessons in Indian Classical Music. He can be contacted at skype id - nishant akshar.

Sir could you tell us the important practices for grasping swarsthan , when we practice in medium tempo, we are some how get the correct swarsthans for all notes. But when the tempo is so fast we cant get the swarsthan so precisely. When akaara singing in fast tempo, avarohana doesn't come correctly, but arohana comes easily .. Please help.with some practice tips..

yes. guruji i agree. singing too much open throttle voice puts a strain on the voice. you cannot do it for long. you will get fatigued. also too much open throttle voice will kind of sound forced sound if you push too hard.

There's a famous quote, "singing is merely an extension of speech". The key is to speak naturally without even a tad of manipulation. However, for professional singing voice one has to focus on other aspects that includes vowels, perfect pitch, throw of voice and words, clarity of speech to name a few. Interestingly, there are many people who speak as if they are singing softly. I experience this whenever I go to any of the beautiful Indian villages in particular as people out there are simple in their conduct. They are not engaged in hurry usually. I think the key lies there in our attitude towards life.
