Such good information! Sometimes if you try to balance a cheap EDF no matter what you do, it will never be quiet. Sometimes it's the cheap bearings in the motors that make the noise.

You are right. Cheap EDF is made of soft plastic which will never balance.

I'm glad you think hacker motors design is awful too. I've just pulled my e50l-1.5y apart and removed the internal fan from the shaft. Its 5mm thick, replaced with hacker spacer. Should sort the airflow in midi 100. Good video BTW.

Nice video Wojtek , but i have some questions about this balancing , i'm not , and i think many off us , can not do this in the good way , when whe buy a EDF brand new and we have to unscrew this , make and design a 3D PRINT , print a 3D LIP en put tape on the inside from the cone , feel the changes whe have done and try again to make it better , thats for me a step to far. The suppliers from those EDF's have to make a good EDF for the customers 100% balanced , its like a SAITO radial engine , it costs 1000 dollar , but you have to send it to France or England to make it better for another 300 dollar because its not OK , its good , but not perfect out off the box , when i buy something i want to put it in the model and fly .... then i buy a SHUBELER and FLY IT . It cost more money , but its 100 % OK .. 80 % OK its good but i can not except this , whe have to contact the suplliers from those EDF's and say to them that those EDF's must be 100 % OK ... ;-) I hope other people can understand me ? Wojtek , start up a company , make 100 % OK EDF's and i'm your first customer ... ;-)

Ronny, did you notice that Shubeler uses bigger diameter motors for his EDFs wchich ruins the efficiency? Are you sure that Shubeler 110mm EDF with 56mm motor has better efficiency than Jetfan 110mm with 39mm motor? But it's not all... Shubeler has 56mm motor with motor housing on top of it so in total it is probably 58 or 60mm motor in contrast with only 40mm from Jetfan. Can you beat that? Are you sure that Shubeler is superior to that? And for more than double the price and much more weignt. And I heard many Shubelers totally unballanced on youtube videos. If you are not willing to put your heart into your models than they will be just toys.

Is there a trick to getting the nut off of the collet when you take the rotor off? I have a Jetfan 80 and when I loosen the nut the collet turns with it. The rotor slides off the shaft, but I can’t get the nut to turn without also spinning the collet. I believe there is some factory applied loctite on the nut. Any suggestions?

Good morning . Your videos are really cool. I want to ask you a question. I have the BH viper and I need to buy the EDF. I ask you: To install in B.H. VIPER the Jetfan 120mm 590kv, using 14s would the sound be realistic, similar to the WeMoTec 100mm? Would it be necessary to make any modifications to the Jetfan 120mm for installation? I thank you for your attention.

Carlos, 120 fits bearly into BH Viper XL airframe. You need to cut out some wood framing in the tail to increase the diameter for the exhoust nozzle which should be 110mm. But it will fly wonderfull on 14s Jetfan-120 PRO with HET800-73-590kv.

YOUR VIDEOS ARE VERY COOL...I HAVE A BH VIPER, AND I'M IN DOUBT WHETHER I INSTALL A WEMOTEC 100MM EDF WITH HET MOTOR 700-83-1080, WHICH HAS A VERY REALISTIC TURBINE SOUND, OR I INSTALL A 110MM EDF WITH HET MOTOR 700-98-840. I WANT TO INSTALL AN ENGINE THAT HAS A REALISTIC TURBINE SOUND.

Do you have 8s1p battery? If so try 8s2p. Li-Ion Samsung 40T is happy with under 50A power. For short bursts you can load it up to 90A, but short bursts only. Li-Ions are not for power but for long flight. If you want power go for Hobbyking Phanter Graphen batteries.
