Also, classic sonic is navy blue and doesn't have to be "very adorable" since sonic in the 90s was created to look somewhat tough and for more teenagers and that color of tails fur in superstars does not match his sprites in sonic 3 and It doesn't look as much as the sprite when you get all the chaos emeralds in sonic 3 and wow if you compare that tails sprite when you get all the emeralds in sonic 3 with the tails model in sonic generations they look completely similar and tails in superstars has different pupils compared to the original classic tails

I'm sure I can't be the only person in the fandom who now feels that the style of Superstars or Mania is what Sonic 4 always should have been in the first place. But then Classic Sonic only really made his big comeback with Generations, and the Sonic 4 that we got at the time just had to be a year too early for that.

Having first played Sonic 4: Episode 1 back on the Wii (the only half of that 2-part episodic game to even be released on the Wii), it always did feel like it was designed partly to ride off the wave of Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. series of games and their particular style.

Thought this was gonna be all Super Stars having the good ones. They both have their cute little ups and downs.

the third animation on Sonic 4 reminds me so much of Rush since the game uses the same engine I wouldnt be surprised if it was just reused

I really want the animators for Superstars to work on more Sonic titles, the player animations in this game are really clean

Because the only good songs in the soundtrack are the ones that use Tee Lopes instrumentation. I’m sorry, but for a game that was supposed to be an “evolution of Classic Sonic” the decision to use a Genesis sound font at all was a big mistake and feels like a downgrade from Mania’s soundtrack.

@@Ggasidlmao None of those tracks use the Sonic 4 style genesis soundfont. In fact i would argue that Cyber Station is the only level where the Genesis soundfont makes sense.

Superstars is more cartoony while sonic 4 is more realistic

the fact some people call sonic superstars disappointing whilst the disaster that is sonic 4 exists is confuzzling

Maybe if Sonic Superstars was the follow up to Sonic 4 it would be confuzzling, but it isn't... it's the follow up to Sonic Mania, which is a far, far superior product to both.

Tbf, S4 was a mobile game with a much more insignificant budget, a smaller team of devs dedicated to mobile spin-offs, weaker hardware and of course the fact it was being developed during 2008, Superstars came out a few months ago, there's a very big age gap between them. Not to mention by the time Episode II came out everything had been improved immensely.

Superstars looks more polished and smooth

Notice how in sonic 4's balancing animations, the foot on the ground is sliding a little whilst superstars has it properly still

Sonic 4 ep1 has game gear sonic blast graphics........that maybe explains why its hated

you can see where the animation repeats in sonic 4, also the game looks like it was rendered without lighting and they added shading to the textures to simulate lighting

Superstars character animation is really good but the backgrounds are so barren usually and not well textured

I just realized 4 looks kinda like an HD version of sonic blast on game gear

@@Butwhythough881 No Sonic Mania is called Sonic Mania. Sonic 4 has the unfortunate burden of being given the name, "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" making it tied directly to the original trilogy. Either give it a different name or remake a proper sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles because that was unexcepable.

@@MarzOnline92 Just because Mania isn’t Sonic 4 in name, doesn’t mean it’s not in concept and design. It looks, feels, and plays like a successor to Sonic 3. Whether you call it Sonic Mania or Sonic Greatest Hits, it’s by all intents and purposes the true Sonic 4. The Sonic 4 we got was originally a mobile game called Sonic The Portable but was mandated by Sonic Team to be put on consoles and be given that name. It’s similar to how some people say Sonic 06 is technically Adventure 3 in concept and design despite not being called Sonic Adventure 3.

Not a remade A entire reimagined needed for that game

I remember when I was a kid, I said that sonic was better than Mario because when you stand at the edge of ledges, sonic will do this. And the only sonic game I ever played was Sonic Ultimate Flash, a random unofficial flash game that some random person made. That's cool how he added that in. Also I remember Mario (this flash game) would take for ever to load

Man. Modders would put that hideous shader on the left in a modern game and people would rant and rave about how it looks so much better than whatever the vanilla game is. Strange fandom.

When sonic 4 came out, there was no difference between Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic. They were both the same character at the game's release.

I wanted modern Sonic which is on the left.

Sonic 4 should’ve been what a new sonic advance game would’ve looked like if it came out, and sonic superstars shoulda been sonic 4.

Okay I'ma be the first to say it, sonic superstars is the new sonic 4. I'm so sick of hearing people call sonic mania, sonic 4. There's only 4 new zones. And it's supposed to be kind of a celebration thing. I'm not saying mania is bad at all it's really good. But it's not sonic 4.

Nah I can agree to disagree. The whole point of the old zones in Mania is explained by the phantom ruby. The old zones are the result of the ruby’s space-time traveling and reality warping abilities. If we can use the excuse of the cyberspace levels using “Sonic’s memories” bringing back the old levels, then I don’t why we can’t do the same with Mania. I’m sorry but to me, Mania is Sonic 4 and Superstars is Sonic 5.
