Tyler Hooks takes you through balancing your RC Tires with the JConcepts Tire Balancer in this latest How-To Tech Tip.
In racing, you can never be too precise, specifically with tires where the separation can be ever so slight. JConcepts now offers a tire balancer for 1/10th and 1/8th tires and wheel combinations. The all aluminum and steel design blends nicely into any pit area and comes set in a storage box for protection and travel convenience. The collapsible design rests in a lay-down configuration but pivots to a 90 degree stance and locks when in usable condition.
The center point of any balancer are the bearings, the free spinning action rests inside the JConcepts hub design. The interchangeable thumb nuts for 1/10th and 1/8th wheel versatility are located on the main axle which can be moved from its home base position to its critical balancing position with ease. The upright is built in aluminum material, anodized black, etched with instructions and chamfered for that extra lustrous look.
The base of the item is built to protect, position and maintain a small footprint at all times. The base has 4 stand-off legs to hold a steady structure while a thumb screw secures the upright in either the up or down position. The JConcepts balancer is pre-assembled and backed by JConcepts customer support and racing team lineage.
Notes - The JConcepts Racing Team uses a modeling clay for balancing material which is readily available through hobby based retailers.

I drag my cars and when I got serious about fine tuning everything including balanced wheels it made a huge difference. Balanced wheels also make a huge steering difference when running at high speed. This a fine economy device.

Why add weight? When you can take it away.. with rc propeller you scrap the plastic blade to balance them cause putty would fling off..

I am fairly new to the hobby and still learning, my question is how much of a difference dose this make when you balance your tires for 10th scale buggie on carpet.

It will make your buggy handle a little more consistently and roll nice and even biggest thing to having a good setup is everything being parallel

It helps you notice the changes you make better. If your car is rolling smoothly then your other changes will fell more dynamic.

I find that I get more grip with balanced tires... if the wheel is wobbling around then grip is off because the tire is bouncing up and down and having less time getting full contact patch compared to a properly balanced tire. I find it important to spot glue and re-balance tires after every race day... sometimes dirt will cake on the clay and require removing a pinch of clay

A stupid question. How will the clay stay when you drive the car?

The clay just sticks. Doesn’t fall off

Centrifugal force keeps the clay in place while the wheel is spinning. At rest, the clay is sticky enough to stay put. As long as it’s the non-hardening type of clay 👍🏻

Modeling clay? Doesn't that come off relatively easy, or are you replacing it with something else?

make sure it's a "Non Hardening" clay, very important that it specifies that, I have grown to appreciate the clay from Dialed Hobbies, it never comes off during a race where the clay from Hobby Lobby is too hard and tends to fall off after a nasty tumble.

No, they would be too big for our balancer.
