The Fuel Altered final round was a rematch of the 2022 Bakersfield March Meet when Lyle Grrenbeerg beat Keith Wilson. Wilson got to the finish line first but did so by running a 5.77, which was too quick for the 6.00 index.
Greenberg scored a victory he admits he backed into. Regardless of style points, Greenberg will take it.
"A win is a win," Greenberg said. "Sometimes you're better lucky than good, but two years ago, when we won Nitro Pro Comp, I'd like to think we ripped their throats out. But this year, not so much. We got some lucky breaks, but you got to be there to win. And we were there, and we were running okay. We just weren't running great."
"As soon as it smoked the tires, and I'm chugging along there a little bit, just idling along, I see him disappearing into the sunset with the header flames high. And I'm telling you what, I'm thinking, 'Wow, I don't think he's going to lift. He's not going to lift. He's not going to lift."
"And I see a 5.77 flash on the scoreboard, and I'm like, "Wow, we just won another March Meet."

I been doing my morning ritual , coffee , and some wholesome family friendly entertainment . Watching Classic Drag Racing videos on CompetitionPlus TV . I've never had the privilege of going down the 1/4 mile , but I've been a huge fan since I watched Ohio George go down the track in his light blue 33 Willys . I have a question , we went to our local track every time there was a big race , Edgewater Raceway Park just outside of Cincinnati. I kept hearing Billy Meyer owned Edgewater . Did actually own it or was he undefeated there. Can anyone answer this question ?

@nitroamerica1024 Thanks for the info, like I said I was a little kid when I heard it . I didn't even realize till later in life that half of the dragsters that came down fire up lane weren't Nitro
love the altereds- but I can't stand bracket racing- seeing a car lose a race because it's too fast just seems stupid to me...

the 6.00 limit is intended to keep a viable competition level - and knowing you have a 6.00 limit should encourage you to run as close as you can to it. That’s all

I agree, sad day that they have a break out in fuel altered. But at least they are racing 1/4 mile.

If you don't, the class runs away with itself and becomes unsustainable/unaffordable to the majority. I'd rather see 8+ fuel altereds running to a 6.00 index than having no class, like we did for decades.

@@motorpsycho417 Yea, I get that and can see the point, I'd just maybe rather see a different restriction to slow them down slightly. Break outs just seem wrong for fuel altereds.

neither is a class where only three cars show up because no one can compete - the only reason for the limit is to protect the racers from themselves
