Bajaj Pulsar F250 & N250 | Your Questions Answered | PowerDrift

With the launch of the new Bajaj Pulsar F250 and the N250, the #PDArmy has been bombarding us with a lot of questions. Burning questions like why they don’t have a six-speed gearbox, or if they are any better than the NS200/RS200. Another big question the Pulsar enthusiasts have is whether they will replace the OG Fastest Indian - the Pulsar 220F. Shumi has the answers that will make the buying decision that much easier.

@Shumi: I agree with you when you say easy to ride bike would feel slow. Never though it in that way, but in retrospect it makes sense. I ride a Pulsar 135 LS and I 'feel' it's a fun bike in city traffic. This is something I 'felt' the day I started riding it as you call it in "Flow state", constantly keeping it in it's sweet spot ( around 6000 to 8500 rpm). It does not make a lot of torque or power with that buzzy engine , barely crosses the highway speed limits, but it does walk up and down the rev band quite well. That meant I can bang through gears 3 to 5 on open stretches, then blip down one or couple of gear as the traffic slows down then back up again. This constant choreographed dance made my office commutes a lot more engaging and may I say it, fun. While doing so I used to think I was doing crazy speed, but a quick glance down would reveal a 2 digit number. That said, how do you think these Pulsars stack up to that use case ? Are they more Yamaha FZ like or still a Pulsar just with relaxed riding cadence. Not upgrading my bike, just in search for different riding experience.

I am looking for my first bike am confused between the pulsar n , Apache and the x pulse 4v , test rode the dominar 250 felt it was expensive and heavy , was thinking about the classic/bullet but way out of budget at almost 2.5 lakhs , I love the way the x pulse looks and what it has to offer , apache to me looks like a no nonsense machine, while I don't know about the new pulsar , does it uphold the legacy and fun of its predecessor ,also rode the mt15 , loved it but at the same time felt overpriced , what I am looking for in a bike is easy to ride , reliable and easy to maintain while being fun and good looking , so pls suggest something , I would have bought the x pulse but at almost the same price the rtr and pulsar have more power , I have that fomo of power and torque with the x pulse

I think it would have been easier for Bajaj to provide the 6th cog rather than explaining the absence of it.. I understand the peak power and torque is available quite early in the rev band so they didn't feel the need of it.. But the same Bajaj felt the need of a 5th cog in the Platina 110. It took them 15 years to listen to customers to find a true replacement of the Pulsar 220 and I wonder who the customers were who asked Bajaj to stick to a 5 speed unit. Times have changed and the competition has moved ahead.. so, banking too much on the emotions of the yesteryears Pulsars and providing a bike with almost no USP is like forcing it down your throat. I ask for your forgiveness in advance for what might look like negativity.. but this is really depressing.. forget 3 Sparks and liquid cooling.. the least that was expected from the 250 was to have Oil Cooled, 4V and 6 speed or were we expecting too much.

We like you to examine the levels of vibration and rattling in the new Pulsar bikes with the ones provided with a perimeter frame. Also why these bikes could not have been designed with a kerb weight of 154 kg the benchmark set by FZ25?. Why have the weights of Bajaj bikes climbed over time ie KTM 390 has added over 30 kgs since the first introduction. How is Honda CB 300 made with such a low kerb weight ? (Now not available in BS6). Do keep up your informative videos. 👍

Japanese bike makers have a lot more experience than Bajaj in designing engines and chassis. Engine casing is one area of weight reduction. Fortnine has a video on this in which he explains how much the casing thickness has reduced over the decades. I suspect Indian manufacturers still have some catching up to do in this area. Still, 6 kilos sound much better then D250's 20 kilo, making the latter a deal breaker. 390 is not 30kg heavier today, what gives you this idea? It could be a few kilos due to change in exhaust from under belly to a conventional one, bs6 additions, etc. Still, it remains as the lightest in its class. Check the weight of cb500, it is quite heavy to its disadvantage.

The thermal stability management system is THE ONE AND ONLY reason why Pulsar AS siblings failed and Bajaj discontinued it. AS had a tiny twin spark air-cooled engine that produced 17+bhp with very front heavy handling. The bikes' engines heated like aloo paratha during summers. Very often it stopped and ceased to start up again after a severe 8k-9k rpm haul. The sweet spot for my AS was 4k-5k rpm which made zero point to validate the 17bhp considering the peak torque was at 9k rpm. That bike, was a bad bad experiment. Bajaj literally skipped R&D there, and many of the customers like me suffered that in terms of maintaining a pseudo-performance 150/200cc engine with not so commuter oriented design and handling.

I think Bajaj does that to ensure they can relaunch the product if the replacement doesn't work. A hope they revive the V brand and lauch a V250. Plus they have a global portfolio where such news can affect sales in region where a particular product is not being discontinued..

@@tmpblurry4614 Sorry for the late reply but you will be surprised I bought Duke 200. I know such a transition must have a good reason so let me explain why not pulsar. In my owner's experience with pulsar it was a machine that doesn't cost me more money but it cost me my time to actually keep it in good condition. The spare parts are cheap for pulsars but the duration in which they have to be replaced was very frequent so almost I used to be in the garage every damn week. I wanted premium quality parts that didn't cost me time like pulsar did. So Duke was the best available option which is a premium category product from Bajaj. @@abhishekshrivastav3825 I decided to buy R15 as I'm a student and what's your thoughts on this ? After listening to your review I think I don't really want that much performance so NS200 or Duke 200 couldn't make it in my list. So R15 or N160 or Honda Unicorn or Hornet 2.0 so I decided to go for R15 as it has performance of 155cc if needed and mileage of 155cc so my family will be happy to see bike eating less fuel

Sir whether mt or n250 is worth buying As their price is approx same But many says that pulsar engines are totally not reliable and harsh also says that as like for example n250 may give 30 34 mileage that is not justified for 250 cc i think So only I think to take mt 15 rather that n250 Please answer dear I am waiting for your ans

Confused between fzs25 and f250. Upgrading from fzs v3 and want a refined bike with good economy for daily office commutes and occasional highway touring. I'm very doubtful about refinement and reliability of bajaj engines as i haved ridden few old bajaj bikes and they were vibrating like hell. I need bike for long term.

It's a brilliant justification... No doubt.... But I guess speculating the consumer's "NEED" n "WANT"... Anything above 1.2 Lakh price tag, not having a 6th gear is a deal breaker.... I guess Yamaha has faced it quite well... N hv reflected in the sales as wellm... I guess bajaj should sort this conundrum via Marketing (Ads)! And as always the best motoring journalism is right here😎 "."

Before pulsar n250/f250 there are no confusion between pulsar 220 and pulsar ns/rs because power figure are different, in the same way when ns/rs were updated there will be confusion between n250/f250 with ns/rs.

You dont need to worry about the ns and rs because they are going to stop making them. Gonna miss a ktm engine at low prices. But I hope the new ns is just amazing and it releases next year. Thanks for the informative video shumi sir.

So the NS/RS are better handlers. How about rs200 vs duke 250? I know one is much more powerful than other, but which one is more friendly/easy to ride fast? I think the new pulsars might be a bit too offortless and uninvolving for me. Am looking to buy my first bike, a pre-owned one at that.

I know we can't ignore the availability of torque but I still feel they should have named it Discover 250 rather than a Pulsar. They had around 8 years after the NS to develop all of that tech. I am not convinced with this justification for Pulsar brand especially when they have the NS which came back some 8 years back. It's an insult. Anyways, they are enjoying the market share with no competition so, their thought process is understood.

Anything below 5 Bhp or 5 Nm difference is not really a difference , you would barely notice them. People nowadays get soo hung up numbers, features etc. and most of them will use the bikes in bumper to bumper traffic and maybe atmost 1-2 long trips in a year. Just buy what you like to ride , it doesn't matter if some XYZ on the road has a bike with better features.

Very good videos they are ! As you explained that the gearbox (for the pulsar) when in development was ratioed by deciding the first and last gear ratios first and hence filling the gap in between appropriately, and therefore adding the 6th gear would've slotted in between these two (first and last) gear ratios. But what if while adding the 6th gear, they move the last gear ratio a little taller and hence filling in the gaps which mates to the expected torque demand ?

I think the Pulsar N250 has decreased in design and liquid cooling features (compared to the NS200). Using air cooling is actually a setback compared to the NS200. The best NS200 design and underbelly exhaust features are great. The advantages of the N250 are only in the slipper clutch and projector lamp. The rest I prefer NS200
