Bajaj Dominar 400 UG2 First Ride Review | Updated & Modified With Touring Accessories | ZigWheels

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Off late, Bajaj has been pushing the Dominar 400 as a touring motorcycle. And to drive that point home strongly, they’ve just launched the 2022 edition of the Dominar 400 which comes factory fitted with new add-ons specifically designed to make touring that much easier. These include everything from a tall windscreen, a metal bash plate to even accessory saddle stays. The saddle stays though are optional and you’ll need to pay Rs 650 for the pair. All the other new bits come as standard on the Dominar 400 now and the bike costs Rs 5,000 more than before.

Even today I don't know what is dominor. With all the bells and whistles it doesn't sell at all. You know the reason because it is not a defined bike. Even R15 which has really bad position sells like hot cake because it is defined as a true track oriented bike. Tell me what is dominor ? A touring bike without wind protection ? Then it's not a touring bike.

Really disappointed with Zigwheels on this one, first of all, what is with" do you need this windscreen do you need that handguards", etc, as if these accessories are added with a huge pricing hike or really are a marketing gimmick, which is NOT the case, I do not know if this reviewer does tour or not, but if 120-140 does not need a wind screen as per him, its really poor judgement and misinformation, as wind blast is a huge factor in fatigue and you start to feel it after 80kmph and for tourers you will be doing 80+ for hours on end, so for all of this for Rs. 4,500.00 added, who in their right minds would not accept these upgrades? Strange, despite this bike being all made in India and Bajaj doing everything for their customer base to get them a out of box touring experience, there are still haters who have deep biases towards Indian bikes ready for Indian roads, Does a touring bike only need to be above 5L for it to impress you? Do you think indian roads offer the Touring speeds of 160-200kmph for prolongated times? 400 CC is the sweet spot Bajaj and many indian who tour in india know this, and as we have already seen from multiple Dominar odysseys. In the end, he is still not convinced at 6:49 if its a tourer? For a 400 CC bike still not considered as touring bike, despite the low cost, despite the added accessories, despite low maintenance cost, and easy upgrades and spare part availability, and despite Dominar doing multiple Odysseys, what do you look for in a Touring bike Zigwheels please tell us , don't keep us hanging, if you have a huge budget then, this comparison is invalid, the next real alternative, is the TRK 502 at 6L on-road, thats more than 2x this bike's cost. and that bike is also heavy. Disappointed with this bias and blind judgement not based on any practical testing or reasoning. Expecting a response or unsubscribing.

I bought the same version of Dominar 400 recently. I've already clocked nearly 1400 kms on the odo till date. Although, it's way too soon to judge the capabilities of the motorcycle. Being an avid rider myself and as person using Duke 390 from the past 2 years, I can confidently tell you that this is a really good bike. I really don't know why the reviews are soo biased. I've used the bike in peak traffic conditions as well as small highway runs. In city yes, the maneuverability is affected due to the weight. But on highways, trust me, the same weight acts as a boon. If you guys don't believe me, I suggest you to go take a test drive. The bike is so much smoother than the Duke 390 I've been using. I'm loving my Ownership Experience so far. Cheers!

I was expecting a much better review from ZigWheels. I personally have toured almost 40,000 Kms on the Dominar. It has its shortcomings in the city, but on the highway the price vs performance ratio is unmatched and it is a very capable touring motorcycle for Indian highways. You have Candida, who took the Dominar to Australia, standing next besides you and the conclusion was that this bike cannot tour. LOL. Even Deepak Kamath sir has taken this bike on multiple Odesseys. Yes, Bajaj did a marketing blunder with this bike, but definitely its not the bike's problem.

He is saying the truth. Bajaj Dominar is a good bike, but it is missing few things that would have made it a great bike. The fundamental problem with Bajaj is it’s top leadership - who just doesn’t understand bikes, and end up creating mediocre bikes. I respect Bajaj’s engineering team, they have done a good job, but the leadership has let it down. For example, if they had used Dominar engine in Avenger bike, it would have been a great cruiser. The V15 was launched with great fanfare, but the final product was underpowered and failed in the market - as the brand messaging did not reflect the bikes true value. Dominar is a city/street performance bike, but positioned as a tourer. It’s a decent tourer, but most owners use this bike in the city and it’s not optimised to be a great city bike, while it’s not a great tourer either! D400 could have been a great tourer if Bajaj had made few changes to suspension and road clearance and reduced its weight. Accessories are good, but make it optional. The lack of leadership vision has plagued Bajaj since the days of Rahul Bajaj and Rajiv Bajaj is no different. The company is doing well only because of its great engineering and manufacturing skills. I have a duke 390 which is made by Bajaj and it’s great city bike. When I tried using Dominar, it felt heavy and under-responsive.

This bike is a beast for its worth. From the sound of the engine to the accelerations. This was a very biased review. It would have been better if you had named some better touring bikes available. People generally say it is too heavy which I think is one of the downside of this bike but not when you are riding it at least for me. That weight gives more confidence as a rider specially at high speeds. The bike can be tricky to handle for people not having a heavy built. You better hit that gym :P. I can say after riding this bike from Delhi to Kanyakumari that I always feel like a king when I push that ignition switch and those 40 horses talk back to me. The downsides this bike has which can obviously be ignored considering its price - poor rear disk brake (front is pretty good), engine heating (it is bound to happen since its a 373 cc engine) and engine knocking at low rpms.

such a biased review from ZigWheels, never expected this. Dominar is a wonderful machine. Even if we remove the price factor, its still a good and worthy machine for touring and everyday use. People are using royal enfields for everyday commutes, so this is anyday better that that in terms of weight. your opinion sees to totally opposite to what the bike community feels.

There is no doubt incase of Dominar it is difficult identify in which category it falls. Whatever fame this bike has got is all because of its users so the credit goes to bikers not the Brand.

I disagree with the verdict and it does not make sense. Indian brand keep on improving day by day by understanding the customer requirement however still i really dont understand why they keep on mocking the product for no reason. This is definitely a head of the competitor.

One minute in and this guy says windscreen is pointless even at 150. You clearly have a non-tourer guy reviewing a tourer bike. And he’s confused about its touring credentials without telling what confuses him. Then there’s PowerDrift, another set of clowns. They find Dominar sluggish for its 40bhp because it is 187 kgs, but find RE a sweet tourer at about half the power and 10 kgs more weight. Is RE actually paying these folks for reputation management?

Look riders its not the bike first its the type first... According to me there should not be any comparisons out of the segments, RE's engine is totally build on different platform with a huge torque and less rev limits makes it a laid black cruiser whereas Dominar engine is on the higher revs limits makes it a fast bike both are good you can't compare. Dominar is really a good tourer for fast km achievement. Himalayan is a different bike it is the best in its off road capabilities so far they have sorted their technical issues as well. See all bikes are good to serve a purpose we all should be enough reasonable to look which bike is suitable according to our requirements. Analysis before purchasing is a must.

These auto journos are always in critical opinion of the Dominar as usual. Well, nothing can be done of them or thier stupid opinion. They didn't even spare KTM adventure 390, just because they love only duke, and want to slap the same image on their video content. Anyways, People are loving the bike and riding hard. Even powerdrift, zigwheels, etc. Are always talking about weight. Suppose a rider of 120 kg weight sits on your duke 390 (lightweight bike) and another rider of 60-75kg sits on Dominar, the total weight is in similar range. Yes the dynamics and rider movement would create difference, but engine loading is same. Don't be much vocal about stupid weight. What about REs then ? 20bhp with 350cc and 200kgs weight of just the bike!!

Rajiv Bajaj should ride dominar bike in Mumbai city and Pune and do few long distance rides from Mumbai to Arunachal to understand what is missing in Dominars. Leadership at Bajaj does not a vision on how to position and build a great bike. Engineering team has built a very good bike, but it’s missing the leadership touch.

It's an advertisement.. every channel has one who rode this bike and they gave input to Bajaj and then Bajaj made this decision! Stating How clever bajaj is.. taking inputs from riders! But you don't need a rider to know that this bike is too heavy! Bajaj - Take inputs from people who investing their hard earned money.. upgrading is not putting accessories which a local shop can do.. upgrade in the core you are the manufacturer!

2:07 yes you need knuckle guards. If you've ever caught a rock off a tire from a car coming in the opposite direction you'd know what im talking about. 30-200 mph pea gravel can wreck your hand for a day or a couple years. Now? Your knuckle isnt the only place you could catch such a rock moving in the opposite direction but it's the most critical besides your face. It's literaly where you come in contact with your steering mechanism ffs! And besides that, it can be q ruthless pain in the ass to find knuckle guards at all, for any motorcycle! I don't know why accessory manufacturers are so myopic but it likely has to do with the opinions of wannabe bikers that never did 50,000 miles combined on a motorcycle in their whole life. Note, its only a matter of time till you die while riding a motorcycle. The trick of it is to get that day to be later than you die of natural causes or in some other way or for some other reason. Srsly, you should feel humiliated right now assuming you have any dignity at all. Any tool, let alone one as functional as knuckle guards, that extends your survivability on a motorcycle, is a tool that should go completely unquestioned. Does it have stock puddle lights? I'd happily put some on a skate board while happily dismissing any doosh bags prejudice about it.
