Oh My God. Seriously. This is sheer eye opening session. I thought, me as a Rider need to just know and care about the bike and that only but it is not the case anymore. I seriously can't go back to any other basic review of a motorcycle at all. You folks have not only changed the bike/car game but you took the bloody format and burnt it crisp. I really really am surprised at how much i have learned about the automotive industry. I am seriously thinking and suggesting shumi and kartik to start a masterclass in how to do motorjournalism and if you do so, let me be the first candidate. I think Bajaj is doing this deliberately so they don't eat into sales of aggressive premium bikes of ktm and truimph a well. They’ve accepted their position of mass market product only appealing to non-passionate buyers through price, who looks forward to talk about the bike to their relatives rather than enjoy and ride it. Although i still enjoy these 2 going about trying to give us all the information, i think there is a bit of disconnect with what the positioning of the bike / target audience is. The price is a big give-away on this front. Its basically a typical pulsar i.e. a sporty looking commuter. It is basically targeted at people who are maturing from a 150-200. So a right comparison for this would ideally be a Duke 250 and not a 390 and thats why when Shumi says its a good 250 not a 400 i think he is bang on. Last standout pulsar was RS200. After that, Pulsars became less of a enthusiast bike and more of a money making machine for Bajaj. I really don't understand why Bajaj is killing this Pulsar brand in the name of low price. Is it to protect KTM sales? Is it due to KTM pressure? What is Bajaj really afraid of when it comes to launching a true Pulsar? I own NS200, and I feel lucky to have one of NS200 or RS200, because these were the last Pulsars which Bajaj made with passion for biking. It hurts to see my favourite Pulsar brand's downfall like this
This was the most interesting 'First' ive watched. I feel like ive been short changed yet i dont feel cheated. I think Bajaj are on to something here. Theek hai, it doesnt behave like a Duke, and is much more mellow, buy theree no replacement for displacement and this really has democracised the power of that engine/displacement. And i really appreciate that. I understand that this seems like Bajaj is doing the Kawasaki thing, and showing a 'Ninja300' down the ignorant Indian consumer's throat, mut maybe theyre really onto something. I think Kawasaki would also do well to price their 300 lower, and form a new segment of sorts, where they compete with the Pulsar 400, Honda 300, Duke 250 ranges(including the race/adventure versions of these platforms if and when they come).

That's very good n all from a PnL & cx footfall perspective it keeps their bottom line revenue stable and flowing which allows them to reinvent, innovate and also push for premium/niche segments as well (KTM/Triumph) and strategically it makes 100% sense. And even though its not like they are losing their own identity but it surely is getting affected and hence, innovation, reinvention, etc. happens at the topline for Bajaj (evidently - KTM) Is the intent with the bike good? Atleast from where I stand - yes. Why? 1) Bajaj is enabling access to powerful and competent motorcycle for the masses who are eager and energetic to reach it. 2) By making the NS400Z a bit mellow they made sure that people look at this as a option in this price range as with a similar demeanor but a more capable motorcycle which would win the spec sheet battle for sure (for some people - which gives footfall - which gives revenue) 3) This gives Bajaj more latitude to explore and introduce variants which again will target the masses and keep the interests high. And Pulsars always were the Thrill for the masses. And Bajaj with their Triumph and KTM's are just doing that along with Pulsars and Dominars. 4) The pricing, feature set and part's sharing clearly suggests that it is meant and made to be a access enabler for the masses. So from a PnL, Strategy and Marketing perspective - everything is nice! The problem: 1) Lacking identity, being distinguishable or aspirational. 2) Lacking the zeal and zest of what the Pulsars initially were and even more so compared to the NS200 and/or KTM's 3) This "PnL" oriented strategy if not done right ... can result in a decline over the years in interest and aspiration - its already showing as except the NS200 (so far).. gone are the times when people discussed or got excited about Pulsars. (THEY DON'T EVEN FEATURE IN THE YT DRAG RACING COMMUNITY ANYMORE 🥲😜) But atleast, Bajaj has a solid topline to keep this going. KTM and now Triumph.

May be true @adrishmajumder9878 but those vehicles will be looked at as KTM and Triumph vehicles, not Bajaj's own. So, it's imperative that Bajaj realizes that and streamlines their offerings.

Ktm and triumph are ktm and triumph, they are not Bajaj, simply building sub 400 cc engines for their bikes don't mean ktm and triumph are Bajaj bikes, CF moto makes ktm's engines, don't mean people look at those bikes as CF moto. Aside from affordable commuters, Bajaj needs to make a good premium bike that looks premium. Look at CF moto, in recent years they have made a name for themselves in the western motorcycle market.
Indians should be thankful to Bajaj for this bike at this price point.

The search for my next motorcycle continues, sigh. Here's the back story. I owned a Yamaha R15 v2 from 2014-2018, went abroad for 4 years and returned in 2022. While the new R15 is great, the riding position is too committed and now I'd like a more powerful bike. The CB300R is beautiful but feels too small, Speed 400, same thing, Scrambler 400X is great and probably the one that I've loved the most so far but the vibes beyond 6k RPM bothers me. I completely agree with Shumi's assessment of this character of the Triumph twins, it's so effortless below 6k but turns into a totally different motorcycle post 6k. Long stroke engines are too 'boring', maybe I'll like them in the future, one day. The Duke 390 is too manic, too aggressive. The Aprilia RS457 is lovely, but the riding position is still too committed. Maybe the Tuono if and when it comes would be the one for me? Time will tell. With the NS400, I probably expected more. I loved riding the BS4 NS200, a bigger more sophisticated version of the same with 90% of Triumph levels of quality was maybe too much to expect at this price point. 2 years in and the search continues. Maybe I'm just too picky 🤷🏻!

Do you think changing rear sprocket bigger or smaller will help with performance and feel ?? Or ecu upgrade ??
Man, what a clear statement "Think of it as a powerful 250 rather than a weak 400". I think it was a very strong perception that the market had about this product, which it is perhaps but only when we get the price in the talks, which is not what a product should be at the end of the day, as "We don't ride value for money home". The product might end up doing great in sales and it could be great for those who really want the 400 tag today when a sporty 150cc comes around the same price. Great breakdown of the product, amazing insights of why the price is so well managed, and a clear perspective of what a customer should expect from this Bajaj. Also I do feel that Bajaj really needs to go all out with atleast one product in their lineup, with max performance and give it the best equipment, but again there is KTM for that and for a better feeling Bajaj we have the Triumph. All this is making Pulsar a commuter brand now rather than an enthusiasts choice. Another great Motorinc First, It's always great watching both of you. It should feel like using an apple smartphone ( simple and easy to adapt ) rather than an android full of bloatware and ads. 3. Both of them should mention the routes they took on videos. Enthusiasts are going to be enthusiasts. They are NEVER satisfied. They always do nitpicking and find negatives in an overall very positive product, like in this case. Here they have talked about this bike in a negative light throughout this conversation. While for the average Indian, this is forever going to be more than enough in every department, be it performance, handling, features, looks, fuel efficiency, etc.. And the fact that it comes at such an incredible price is the deal maker! Indians buy 155cc R15 and MT15 at a higher price that this bike, but this is not good? I always believe that the Indian consumer values "value" for his money more than anything. So it doesn't matter if it's a "Parts Bin Motorcycle" (which they deliberately did to keep the costs low) or a "mild not exciting 400", the fact is that you are getting a brilliant 40bhp 400cc bike at 1.85 lakh, which tbh does not have many cons. So it doesn't matter what someone says, if the overall product is good it is going to sell well👍🏼

Great video, Mİ...👍 Just he suggestion, whenever you put up those texts in the screen (like at 7:20) which explain some form of detail, please let them be there for a few seconds more so that the viewer can read it thoroughly. İ felt like the time it was on the screen for was a bit too fast and quick...but again, just a suggestion. And as always, amazing content guy... loved it. Cheers...🥂✌️ Also, do you think that this bike will have somewhat the same kinda fate as what the KTM's did and have in India, iykwim? ("Chapri's bike" is what I am referring to...not like it matters to a potential buyer, but still...) At 37:30...why does it come to my mind that that is one of the passive reasons why the NS400Z isn't actively being kept on the same level as the 390 Duke, or any other "more" aggressive bike in the segment...so as to not have this (i.e. the NS400Z) have the same fate as the Duke(s)..?🤔
Do u expect honda cb 300r price to come down to 2 to 2.1 lakh and is it lively compared to ns400z.
Can anyone list the hardware differences between this and gen1 390 engine?

So what would be a better proposition N250 or NS400Z, in terms comfortable ride and value for money?
So after watching the review, this is my opinion: For those of your looking for your first bike and have a budget of 2 lakh 50 , (cost of the 400z with Bangalore taxes ) instead go for the 200 learn all the fundamentals and use the remaining money to get good gear .
Not everything depends on ui/ux opinions. Specially in india and especially in vehicle screens. There are multiple considerations from tech marketing business etc etc. Maybe some were ux issue like close throttle. But the shortcut to menu issue is 100% tech and the dot matrix and blue light were 100% business. And not to mention there is always someone from management who will say “just do what i say”
when are we getting Motrinc View for Mavrick 440?
Hey Shumi, I just love the way you review motorcycles by going into details of each aspect. I have 2 queries. 1. You said ns400z is a bike which does every task(commuting, touring etc) reasonably well but as far I remember you said the same thing for Triumph speed 400 too. So, tell me how is Ns400z different from Speed 400 and which one is best interms of performance, refinement, acceleration, feel and rider connection. 2. Which is the exciting product according to you after Duke 390 in this segment?
Triumph Speed 400 should have been Pulsar 400. Its silhouette looks exactly like the first generation Pulsar 150 with round headlights. Maybe we'll get it 12 years from now at Triumph's current price!
The way you review is a masterclass not only in bike review world but also how to articulate your thoughts. I have a question - Could you also please suggest which bike owners can see this as an upgrade? I own a highess, any thoughts? Im asking out if curiosity to place this bike right that's all.
Does Dominar get update as full touring bike?

Very comprehensive review. As always!! I have seen different reviews about the NS 400Z. However, this one covers everything that a person needs to understand to make an informed decision. I think, rather than considering the NS400Z as a 400CC motorcycle or a hardcore competitor (which obviously it is not) in its class, it would be a good all rounder for most of the people who looks for great purchase under a budget. That is, it would be comfortable in cities, decent for short to medium tours, and offers a decent power in the sub 2 lakh segment.
