Yes it's such an important part of the makeup of the city. I hate seeing part of a cities culture and heritage destroyed in the name of development. It's really selling your soul.

Amazing 😍🤍 Manama is my home town, you were actually very close to our grand house! I loved the fact that you walked from Manama souq to the Museum! You can only do that from November to March 😂 otherwise you’ll melt from the summer heat. So beautiful and peaceful vlog showing how actually Bahrain is. I hope you had the chance to visit Riffa and the southern area 😍 anyways, I am happy that you enjoyed Bahrain.

Thank you 🙏 We enjoy exploring the back streets of cities and find walking to distant sights is the best way to do it. You always see a little more than the polished, touristy centre. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of Manama and the people were all friendly and helpful. Great place! ❤️

Hi Mandy / Lee, Despite being a rich country, food seems pretty affordable, at least where you went. Bahrain on a budget? Were you couch surfing or house sitting? Hi Sergio, So sorry, this comment seems to have passed us by. We certainly do know how to root out the bargain food wherever we go. 😊 Yep, we were couchsurfing there and it was a wonderful way to meet the folks who live there and get a feel of residential life. We did notice looking at Booking.com that accommodation prices were a bit cheaper there than in Saudi, Kuwait and Emirates though. Bahrain sure does pack a punch for a small island nation. I'd go back any day! Have a great week. 😍

Great video. Here in the US, I have often come across clothing that says on the label it was made in Bahrain. Just wondering where the factories are and how they handle waste from the manufacturing process, on such a small island. Perhaps those are probably not something a tourist would typically see, but I am curious!

Thank you 🙏 That is interesting to know. We were not aware of a big clothing industry in Bahrain. There didn't seem to be any evidence of it in the places we visited. The petroleum industry is dominant from what we saw. Thanks for the comment. 🙏

We really enjoyed visiting the gulf countries and found the people to be very welcoming and hospitable. We'd recommend Bahrain to anyone. 🙏😍

The atmosphere of the souq looked similar as I remember it. However, 50 years ago, there was nothing modern visible. The food was always good in the souq. Looks like nothings changed there.

I couldn't even imagine how it would look 50 years ago. These Gulf cities have blossomed fast over the last decades. The concept of the souk never really changes though. 😍

That's a great question. I wasn't whole-food plant-based then, as hadn't yet been diagnosed with breast cancer, but our friend Prash is vegetarian, and he found a lot of bean dishes. I hope someone can offer more information 🤗🙏 ~ Mandy
