  Sri Lanka has gotten bit expensive with the financial crisis when compared to neighboring countries like India, but still cheaper when compared to other world counterparts, travelling, always try for tuk tuk or uber, or rent vehicles, normal tuk tuks are scams

  Recipes are different from region to region..as well as to communities to communities..their spice mixture different..Coconut oil is basically used by Sinhalese but never used ghee and gingelly oil ..But Tamils used ghee and gingelly..Dosa , parat, and wade are basiclly Tamil recipes...Hoppers , kiribath (milk rice) strinhopprs, are of Sinhalese..kottu , biriyni are basically of Mulslims...of course one can not make lines of theeals..We have varity of tasty meals...of course sothern province recipes are treated tasitest.....you can experianced the differenc if you eat three consecutive days Matara, Jaffna, and Baticaloa...ie north, south, east....of course colombo is pickel..😊..The way of eating is also different.eg.Green gram is eaten by southern people with greated coconut and lunumiris (chille sambol, where as Jafna peopl eat green gram with either jugaary or sugar)

Fun fact: Negombo is often called "Little Rome" because of its significant Catholic population and the numerous churches in this predominantly Buddhist country. The St. Sebastian Church you visited on Sea Street is architecturally inspired by the Reims Cathedral in France and is built in the Gothic Revival style. Saint Sebastian is the patron saint of Negombo.

  Hello Mandy and Lee! Sri Lankan food looks so wonderful! I may be able to survive the heat as long as i have a healthy dose of ice cream, smoothies, and coconut water. 😊. I wonder if you had any gastronomical issues while there. We americans have sensitive digestive systems. Except for microplastics. We seem to be okay with that! 😆.   As A Sri Lankan who has lived In Australia for 54 years..watching both if you brings tears to my eyes I love the way you travel and the places and eateries you visit..so real and un pretentious.   Wonderful! Yes I recall very well having high tea at the Grand Hotel. I recall the wall with all the teas shown at 7:00 and 15:15. It brings back such wonderful memories. Such a beautiful and unexpected place in Sri Lanka. It was a unique experience but thought the high tea portions were a bit small for me. I am a glutton after all. 😂 BTW-the best scones I ever had were in New Zealand. 🇳🇿

  That's great that you had such a pleasant experience there also. 😊 It certainly is unique and really enjoyable to do. I thought that the portions were rather small too but we'd just eaten a large, late lunch so were still very satisfied. It's all about the ambience of such a historic place. Yay for NZ scones 😋😋. Now we're feeling homesick. 😆

  Thank you very much for come to visit Sri Lanka. You can try our traditional breakfast like Kiribath, Pittu, kurahan roti. As well as you can try Kanda. This is a drink using as breakfast. (This make by using Hubal leaves, coconuts and rice ).Have a nice time in Sri Lanka.

  Try different kottu;fish kottu,egg kottu,prawns kottu,mixes kottu,beef kottu,dolphin kottu and you can have two main types of kottu based on what they made; kottu made out from roti and kottu made out from string hoppers. Moving to Vada.. There are many varities Parippu vade- made from lentils, prawns vada,Uludu vada made out from Undu flour.

  No, we were in Sri Lanka in June-July last year, then had to return to Australia for surgery after I was diagnosed with breast cancer at Asiri Hospital Kandy. ~ Mandy
