Fishing for yellowfin and bluefin tuna in SD in the Pacific the past 7 years I find it interesting to see the difference in styles. We are fishing size 2 hooks frequently and up to 1/0 when live baiting with 40-50’ fluro and do well with 40-80lb fish

Captain Mike thanks for the knowledge we followed your advice for our first Bahamas yellowfin tunas this year. Quick question as for drag how many pounds do you set at strike. We seemed to have pulled a couple of hooks and maybe our drag was set too high. Again thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Its a compromise. Too light of a drag and fight lasts too long and tuna may get sharked so you want to get him in quickly, however too tight and ZING POW....premature tackle failure! @@FloridaSportFishing Hey Captain Mike thanks for the reply. We mainly use 40Lb to 50LB mono on 30 to 50 size lever drag reels, 40LB-50LB 50 feet Flouro and 3/0-4/0 inline 3x Circle hooks.
What Chaos rod is that?
