The bagger 288 bucket wheel excavator was built in 1978 and is the largest in the world. It measures 240 meters, is 96 meters high and weighs an incredible 13,000 tons.
Bucket-wheel excavators are used on large construction sites and for mining raw materials. Bucket wheel excavators like the bagger288, with a size of several hundred meters, are used in lignite mining. The excavatror lifts 240,000 tons of coal or overburden every day.

Where the heck does it go? I mean the dirt that gets dug up? Where do you put it all? You could fill out a thousand football stadiums with the dirt and it still wouldn't be enough space

This video doesn't do a very good job at conveying the size of that thing because most shots don't have anything that you can relate to it. 3:16 is the best shot in that regard due to the excavator in front of it.

Extracting coal doesn't destroy the earth. That entire mine will be terraformed once the whole dig is complete.

And there aren’t several billion cars. Construction sites today also strictly adhere to environmental procedures, mainly ad blue and the practice of maintaining low revs. And as the guy above said, your car doesn’t produce billions in revenue. Does it?
