THen they think they have to scrimp and save forever just to reach that point of their first trade.

Nah, his stop was a bit above, it's the green line. Some traders have a mental stop and a hard stop a bit further from their mental, so maybe that's what's in his plan when he said it's at his stop

Yeah it means if the trade goes back up and hits his stoploss he's not lost any money from the trade. Worst case scenario from this point on is breakeven, so he may as well wait for his upside.

He took a short position. To simplify a short position just means you think the stock is going down and a long position means you think it’s going up. So when you hear people say their long on something it means they’re expecting it go up. When I first got into I thought it meant that they holding on to it for a while or not if it’s long or short. Took me to long to realize other wise
