    This will be the last Russian armor test for awhile. I'm hunting for Russian AP ammo and Western plates to start working on the inverse of this series. If you find any you'd like to donate don't hesitate to email me. So far I've got ESAPI and XSAPI plates on the way.

    @@gamecubekingdevon3 It has back plates, and they are identical on both sides. The plates are sandwiched between 2 layers of aramid each. So 4 total plates & 4 layers of aramid. Nope, a vast majority of Russian troops in Ukraine do not seem to have any night vision capability and its been confounding experts all over for the past two weeks. We still dont know whether this is due to a lack of preparation from their troops being told they were going on exercise right up till the bullets started flying.... or the level of corruption and graft in the Russian armed forces is on a level far beyond even the worst estimates. Suffice to say that all indications point to the Ukrainian special forces and certain foreign 'volunteers' like the Forward Observation Group having been on absolute tear over the past two weeks, just saw a gory aftermath vid of an entire VDV company having been wiped out in an ambush by these guys.

They are defending their homes from oppressive invaders, we can send them life saving info all we want. I hate how idiotic and polar politics has gotten. You can pick from more than just the 2 extreme opinions. "Think Ukraine is in the right? Then you must believe we should go to war with Russia and gift Ukraine our first born children!" "Think spending domestic tax dollars on foreign military forces is not our job? You must think Putin is right and Ukrainian children deserve to be murdered!"

    @@gamecubekingdevon3 its not the weight neccisarily. Its the spalling. In theory yeah we can reach NIJ 3 with thinner steel but the shrapnel that it creates has to go somewhere. When i was putting together blueprints for my patent lawyer i didnt anticipate the general usefulness of steel with a front fiber flak absorbing plate. Even if you do reach 4mm armor, its still gunna need something to absorb shrapnel, which in the video lost its protectiom after 1 shot. Adding anything thicker will make it heavier and weight is your enemy as an infantryman. I can atest to that. However im still gunna mess around wiith different applications of steel because its cheap but steer clear from private use. Ceramic for now is multihit, offers more ballistic protection, and lighter.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if either of their numbers are extremely limited or it was just another lie from the Ukrainians. The Ukrainians lied about the snake Island incident, the Ukrainians lied about the Ghost of Kiev, the Ukrainians lied about the mobile crematoria, the Ukrainians lied about there not being Nazis, the Ukrainians Ukrainians lied about kill ratios, the Ukrainians lies about kills on generals, the Ukrainians lied about Zelensky being on the frontline, the Ukrainians lied about assassimation battalions, the Ukrainians lied about human shields, the Ukrainians lied about missiles, the Ukrainians lied about all that and so much more. About the only thing they haven’t lied about is currently being at war with the Russians.

    These tests seem to be done at nearly point blank range? Have you tried shooting from tens of metres away, up to a hundred metres?

  • @guythik8415

    @guythik8415

    Official testing is mainly done at v0 m or 5m in reality or v50 from you guessed it 50m. Besides you can just calculate the impact force from further away shot and compare that to similar energy and caliber at closer range. Home reloader could even try this by loading 7.62 api bullets into x39 or .300blk case to get desired velocity, as to simulate far away shot with an 308 for example.

    You probably won't see this, but if you do, how do you acquire all this body armor? I want to see how it feels to wear this Russian body armor, and I'd like to have an authentic loadout because it'd be super cool. That, and it would be fun to go shooting with it on and it'd be a nice piece of mind to know that if my gun blows up, I don't have to worry about shrapnel too much.

    @@commieprop Both the FAL and G3 are chambered in the same ammunition, 7.62x51 NATO. As of Feb 27 the Belgian government approved 2000-5000 machine guns as aid to UA(likely MAG(7.62) and Minimi(5.56) or maybe SCAR or FAL rifles) and Portugal approved an unspecified number of G3s to be sent as military aid on the same date. I have no idea when they will get to the UA armed forces but they may already be issued by now.

    @@Eclipserful Yes there is, the most common one used in Ukrainian service for 5.45 from what I can tell from pictures and the current Russian Body armor choices. I believe the Ukrainians are using the 7N22 AP bullet which is capable of piercing level III with relative ease and can pierce LVL 4 with multiple rounds I'd guess somewhere around 5 to 6 rounds. Though they do also have 7N39 from Russian forces but I would wager a very minimal amount of 7N39. 7N22 AP seems way more prolific within Ukrainian forces

Pretty sure that would go viral, and if the Russians somehow see it, it would lower their morale knowing that a common hunting round can still seriously injure them despite the weight of the vest...
