Bafang Motor Problem (Solved)

Knocking, Rattling, Squealing noises plagued my bafang- planetary gear hub motor on my 2019 Volt Yukon 750 after an accumulated 13,000 miles. Of the number of possible issues that could go wrong (motor) internally, I've identified an issue to be a likely a common problem showing these symptoms (knocking, Rattling, Squealing) and a temp Fix (way to prolong motors life) Savings: $Hundreds

pero porqué no sacas el planetario y cambias rodillos y engrasas como es debido? el palnetario sale con los rodillos

It starts with teeth getting broken on one gear and the dislodged one damage the other ones. So as soon as you hear anything abnormal, vibrations or judder. Stop riding, walk back home, open jt and replace the only broken gear. You will save the gears as well as your motor from getting fused due to overheating. Also use good grade grease after cleaning the old one. These are straight type teethed gear, I got the helical kinda and those gears are very rare to find.

I believe starting in pedal assist 5 rips the gears. My owners manual states to put pas at 1 when you stop to alleviate the spinning

Very true. I put a lot of unnecessary stress on my bike. She's held up pretty good, however I do try to go easy on the throttle, these gears aren't cheap anymore 2023.

For $20, why not just replace the gear assembly? My cysum has also crapped out but the gears are perfect. Maybe the clutch.

That's a great idea! I do today. At the time I made this video I just really enjoyed learning and figuring out solutions to problems. I was a new E-bike owner, plenty of problems to come. Ive learned a lot, but I do prefer just replacing parts now.

You can get metal gears for this motor. If you can confirm that the planetary gears are 36 tooth with an outter diameter or each gear is 47.8mm and the thickness is 13.3mm, and also check that the pins that the planetarys spin on are 58mm center to center, I can get metal planetary gears for both our 750w Bafang motors.

No! The noise alone would put me off, and these nylon gears are designed to fail before the motor does. Replacement nylon gears are a few bucks.

I unlocked my ebike with dual 750w bafang hub drives... i went back to original 25km/h settings... things were way too loud. I think if you want speed who cares but if you would rather longer life im talkinnyears and years just stick to factory settings. Im a 6ft 4in dad bod haha i tow 2 of my kids on a trailer and have one in front on school runs... it does the job... i get to ride with my kids with a spinal fusion and i couldnt be happier. But as an ex diesel mechanic... def just run at slower speeds dont wreck your bike just tongo fast... if thats what you really want with minimal issues over time. Buy a motorcycle

Hey there! Thanks! At the time of making this video I believe it was under 3 thousand miles. The grease I prefer and have never switched is Permatex. It's a White Lithium Grease that resists moisture, prevents against rust, and an overall great lubricant, Oh! and prevents friction and heat. You can find it on Amazon.

The best is Molykote PG-75 for nylon/steel contact gears. Every 1000miles or 6 months is recommended to disassemble and clean/grease. Your motor should last years and years.

It’s specifically so they wear out the before the outer housing that laces to your rim does if you think about it it’s way more convenient to replace some plastic gears or just the internals of a motor rather than having it relaced every time there needs to be a replacement
