Lessons on badminton (bulu tangkis, cầu lông, 羽毛球), including how to hit well, smash, serve, basic (backhand) skills, steps, etc. in Full Swing Badminton! 🤔
※ Coach Han usually uses a 3U, stiff racket, thin strings, and 30-32 LBS setting. Please note that we do not mention brands that are not related to Fullswing. ※

So true like Coach has said - each person has to make it work for them. When I change to a different racket, I usually have to go through 3 different combinations of string types and tensions to find the right fit/vibration feedback. As Coach has noted a higher tension or stiffer racket, a player will have to have a "faster" wrist to take advantage of the higher tension/stiffer racket. For example, the new Yonex Nanoflare 1000 ZZ, my wrist is not fast/strong enough to use that racket. In addition, a higher tension will reduce the size of the sweet spot of the racket. If you are playing with feather shuttle, you must hit the sweet spot or the shuttle will just die (or not "fly away" properly). It takes more wrist and lower arm power to play with a higher tension and stiffer racket.

Yes. High tension requires stronger force. Some people often want a higher tension than their strength. No, it's a bit much. However, there are also professional athletes who often use 26 to 27 pounds. You just have to play according to your own needs. Without overdoing it.

Good video! I agree that different people have different preference! But i also think theres some portion of people asking about 'what string tension should i use' because they dont have time to play that much or money to try different style of strings Hence why they try to get recommendation. Just sharing a thought!

if stringer looks this issue, he has different answer. string machine, weather, stringer's skill ETC... so many things can make result. but, we revicieving Question about racket, tension, string.. everyday 5~10. it makes us hard :-) just i want to say "your racket is 2nd good in the world. but, first is other's as you think. hehe" actually, Korean don't like astrox game, tour Label usually. they want just Pro label. Perhaps such tastes are also a characteristic of Koreans. Even brands are very different from country to country. our biggest concern is that our recommendations do not disturb with they experience. always, this issue is difficult :-)

In double and you are front man, it's good to use high tension because you'll need play fast. But, it will cost you more energy when you have to go to back court. That's why, I always use 27lbs tension, it's enough to me 😅 but yet, it's really depends on you and Coach Han is right, you have to try it, feel it, and find your own tension. Terima kasih, Coach!

In general, it is said that high tension rackets are better for control. But there are also people who feel the exact opposite. So I guess it's up to each person to do their own thing.

So if you have more strength then go with higher tension? Or even if you do a full out swing on low tension the result will almost be the same?

And also high tension has the better control power if you play net to net because it can bounce without even swinging it

Excellent video!! Does higher tension ensure more powerful shots like clear or smash?? Suppose we have hit two identical smashes with just different tension(24 and 30). Which smash will go steeper and land faster on the ground?

it is user, racquet and string dependent. It's hard to explain to someone who have little mechanical or physics background. Even if i recommend the right tension and string to clients, their urge to copy the pro is very high, so they ignore good advice and go for pro style set up

they have a video on how to hold a racket. But keep in mind - we all started to hold the racket in certain way. As we play more and get stronger and faster, how we hold the racket will change. My grip on the racket now is different than 5 years ago, certainly different than 15 years ago. When I first started in badminton (40 years ago), I was using the pan grip like all the beginners 😁
