Badly Injured Seal Rescued
At first, the team didn’t know the extent of the seal’s injury until they released him from the rescue net. Despite the severity of his injury, he was ready to put up a good battle. His attitude is good news for us: he is strong and prepared to fight for his life. As so often, we are amazed at how resilient our seals are.

That wound is horrible! No wonder you could smell the infection! Thank you for removing the line and giving him a chance to heal.👏

Poor animals, I feel so sad for their pains
I've said it before & will no doubt say it again, Denzil, but your eyesight is as impressive as your speed 🙌🏻 That poor bull's wound may have stung returning to the sea after the line was removed but I can't imagine the relief all the seals must feel to finally be freed of the snare wrapped around them, that was getting ever tighter & more painful. You save so many lives; I know it's only touching on the problem & what is happening to inhabitants of the sea where we cant see them, but if all the seals you've rescued were gathered together in ine place, that would be an impressive colony of seals that would not be alive without your intervention. Thank you 🙏🏻 🦭

Not only eyesight and speed but also endurance ! Running through sand must be so exhausting. And like that, without catching their breath, they manage to handle heavy animals. Our favorite rescuers sure stay strong and healthy while helping the seals !

Eyes like a hawk and runs like Usain Bolt and his name is Denzil. Well done, the seal now has a chance heal and live his best life.
Those horrible cuts so deep into the flesh, I cannot imagine how painful every minute of their day must be. Bless you, OCN crew, for helping them.
The poor bull was very badly injured by the line, Denzil finally managed to spot him among the herd, and the team helped him to return back to the ocean. Thankyou OCN. 🤗💝🏴

Yes. We always triple-check to ensure we don't leave anything that might cause the seal any harm in the future.
It always makes me worry a bit more when you can't just cut the line and be done. When you have to carefully poke around and decide the best way to remove the entanglement without hurting the seal worse than it already is, I know it's bad ... and it WAS. Thanks, Naude, Tony and Denzil, for the young bull's second chance. OCN is absolutely AMAZING 💙

Amazing job, Denzil! It was quite a challenge to find the targeted seal in that big moving herd, but you did! Now the line is removed, his infected wound can heal. Thanks guys!💕🦭

We are unfortunately not solving the problem, but only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. These videos aim to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.
Hi all! “Oh, man..”, I also groan when I see the seal’s wound. This video should be shown to everyone who is part of the governments of countries that do not want to reduce the leakage of plastic into the oceans.. And if anyone does not react to such a wound, the right decision is to be observed by doctors, as a person who has no empathy..And many thanks to the guys for saving all the seals. Today is March 15, 2024. This amazing channel has 1.88 million subscribers. Subscribe if you haven't already. By subscribing, liking, commenting, donating and reposting, you help save seals.

Good eye Denzil, so happy you found this one who badly needed your help. The wound was horrendous and must have been so painful. Thank you OCN for his rescue.
Denzil and Team OCN have a very hard job to do. Seeing the ones that didn't make it brings tears to my eyes.😢 But thankfully Denzils' great eyes paid off and saved this adult that surely would have not made it as well.

It is sad, yet perfectly normal, in colonies of tens of thousands of pinnipeds to see dead bodies lying on the beach. Natural causes like predation, starvation, and sickness prevent half the Cape fur seal pups from seeing year one. Older animals are also subject to diseases and injuries. We leave the dead bodies to the seabirds, jackals, and hyenas.
That's an awful cut - another one. Thank you for making sure you caught him - well done Denzil.🙂 Thank you all for another desperately needed rescue❤
Great work as always folks. You restore my faith in humanity on a daily basis. 👍👍

We see healthy recaptures every single day, proof that seawater acts as a very efficient wound cleaner and that Cape fur seals are extremely resilient animals. Therefore, it helps to remember that an entanglement will eventually kill them, but if it is removed, then their recovery is quite likely.
I really love watching all your videos and I appreciate your team work. The way you all search the seals with fish net and help those poor creatures is wonderful. Thanks to all the team members for their efforts.
